Switch problems after power outage

Hi there fellow sysadmins, I currently have a dell N1524 switch which seems to not working right. After an power outage some PCs connected to this switch cant access the terminal servers in the internal network, but ping/dns is working. Some other connected to the same switch don’t have this problem. A nas is connected and running, but i cant even ping - it seems offline. Rebooting all network devices (switches + fw) didn’t help. Since I am offsite I cant change ports for the devices. How would you try to find the issue/fix this? Thanks in advance!

It's not Netgear bad, but yeah Dell makes pretty terrible networking equipment.

The datacenter switches is actually pretty good, and now you can just do sonic os on them.

Have any vlans on that switch? If so check them.

Already did, everything how it should be. Today the problems started even before the uplink to the said switch. My guess is that this switch is fine, and maybe the Gateway or main Switch have an issue. Thanks for your comment!

Just a quick 1st check…were changes made and not written? Also, sometimes a power outage can corrupt the config. Maybe pull a recent backup prior to the outage and see if that fixes things. How are the environment variables i.e, CPU, memory, power, etc? Have you checked the logs? Just some quick things to verify before digging deeper.

>Just a quick 1st check…were changes made and not written? There was a guy at a prior job who would constantly do this. He also failed to do config backups before and after doing his work. Often it was not an issue as I did most of the config changes and always did a backup before I started work and one after I completed and uploaded them to SharePoint. I left the job and about a year later one of my Co-Workers told me they had to restore back to my switch config backups because a site rebooted and no one had any configuration backups, and no config changes were written to disk. It took them a significant amount of time to fix the issues and get them running again.

Jeez. copy run start is ingrained in my muscle memory. No excuse for not having backups. I can imagine that was a terrible time dealing with that mess.

Support told me to update the firmware, will try that while out of office times.
