That seems like the obvious first step It’s very surprising that they’re still trying to enforce that mandate, especially since afaik the current government wasn’t a supporter of it, but you also can’t really blame them for not proactively reaching out to everyone first to ask if they got shots abroad, since that’s an edge case.

I do not -but then I tend not to speed. (my wife and I have an agreement - if i get a fine - she gets that amount too for 'shopping purposes' - effectively doubling the cost of any fine) In 30 years - i got 1 parking ticket (sign obscured and not paying attention) and 1 speeding ticket (but from my own country).. I know that some parking and 'wrong way' violations do get shared between the Schengen countries.

This could be a nightmare for his ability to travel and could cause issues with his visas and living in the UK. Depends on where in the government issued the fine, what it's tied to, etc. I know that some governments ABSOLUTELY decline to issue travel documents & identification to people who are delinquent on obligations - and the consequences can be dire.

Has he told his local comune that he is living abroad or that he had. And if he is now living in italy has he told the anagrafe sanitaria that he has had vaccines. We now live in italy but when my partner who is italian lived in the uk she didn't tell the comune she was living in the uk. This sparked a few issues with her tax residency.

Yeah italian bureaucracy is like that. They will never ask for anything but God help you if you didn't tell them. Call the centro vecchini at his registered hospital. I needed to provide proof of a tetanus vaccination and bossters for work here in italy. They were able to add my uk vaccinations to my medical history here using a doctors note provided by my old UK GP. This may help if you wish to get the fine dismissed.

Ok so here is the breakdown: -Yes it is law of the land and you have to abide by it. (Plz don’t ask me why or anything, too tired after work just need a pint or a city bus to hit me straight) -ask your nearest consulate regarding approval of your UK vaccines (100% they are approved but Italian system might have flagged coz well Italy) -MOST IMPORTANT STEP: get in touch with issuing ASL for exemption or deferral with the corresponding forms and proof which the consulate asks you to. If you can’t find it or contact them please let me know, il dig up the required ones for you all. THIS HAS TO BE DONE within 10 days of you receiving the notice. -once you provide them the same irrespective of they update the info or act on it, you will be forever on the right side and not under any issues. TLDR: red tapes and its associated consequences. Could be resolved with a form or two contesting it. And NO they cannot withdraw penalty directly from your home account. That’s just associated BS by the agency.

I would contact the consulate via their email or the Comitas and request assistance as he was complaint and the UK vaccine was recognised fron the Italian government. I appreciate your desdain for the process but if you break a law and are fined you need to pay it regardless of where your residency is. Otherwise you could travel, no pay a train ticket get a fine and not be requested to pay, the system simply wouldn't work. This is no difference as that is the law, granted the law in itself is questionable however the legislative purpose of the fine still stand. I hope you guys can get it sorted.

That's not a comparison. When you go a country you respect the legislation there. Just because you don't reside there that doesn't automatically grants you immunity from their legislative proceeding. That is just how it works. That is why you are invited to read about law, local regulations and such when travelling. The UK government does an excellent job at prepping you for travel in almost all Europe with pages dedicated exactly to highlight things that may catch you out.

In literally two minutes of searching I found multiple ASLs with a form to fill out. In your husbands case he needs to state that his foreign vaccination wasn’t recognized (with documentation of the same) and the fine should be cancelled. Have him check the ASL where he has (or had) residency.

I remember having to show a COVID passport to be allowed to be at work in late 2021 and early 2022, but after that the restrictions ended. They ultimately stopped the mass vaccinations after 3rd shots, though they are doing 5th shots now for some of the high risk groups, but they are just for extra protection, nobody’s running around checking COVID passports anymore.
