Great ingenuity, but I doubt, unless your a felony, the ATF is worried about a single shot shotgun. Of course unless it is kept inside that'll be a pile of rust and mold.

1. Seems like one could use this trick with a sealed bag to prevent rust (just cut a little more space inside the log). 2. Something like this would probably work best as a short-term hiding spot, rather than a long-term cache. 3. Different log shapes and sizes might work better for other weapons. I'm sure none of this is anything you couldn't, or hadn't thought of on your own, I just thought they were interesting points for discussion.

I get that. This is nothing new under sun though. Those in europe have been doing this for centuries. And the rest of the world too, all the way back to swords and bow & arrows. The people wouldn't need to do this, if we had less tyrants. I just thought it was funny he called out the ATF on it, and the example was a single shot shotgun.
