I have a question does anyone know who this voice belongs to? Is it a real person or AI I hear to in a lot of videosmand stories. https://youtu.be/sRv-D4JGCHg?si=X8BrsD_kmcYH6sla

It's just an AI voice.

Yes hello, anything yet? 😩

I feel like the only way this could be possible is if this app was pulling from a database of commercials and animated series. It wouldn’t just be able to pull the actor out of thin air… I wish this existed ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

Here because I googled the SAME THING. We'd need some good AI for that.
Naive_Original_3961@reddit
Is it an app yet?
Donkeyducker@reddit
was wondering the same thing...

How bout now?
Donkeyducker@reddit
Is there now an app that does that?
fujiapple73@reddit
That’s what I want to know.

I’m a time traveller from 2132. You guys get that app in 2029.

Also, let me say that I know that there are very many out there of which whom do there own impersonations of actors or actors in different roles however, I have ideas about compilations databases. Broken down from the most popular of movies, tv shows/streaming seires limited programs and stand up comedy specials which would specifically be the foundations of a catalog for finding the voice the real voice over actors in that role and potentially to tie them to new (upcoming) or previous roles.

I was just thinking about the very same thing. As I'm watching an animated series on Netflix called Inside Job. They have a character half man half dolphin which sounds just like the voice of Bender from Futurama. Light bulb moment occureoccurred, course that set in motion my question "is there an app for that?"

This is an active area of research! I studied the was the early Shazam algorithm worked, and unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to recognize voice actors using the same algorithm. Here's why:
The Shazam algorithm is really a search: you give it the input, it says, "oh, I've heard that exact same section in this song!" and it tells you the name of the song.
Recognizing something your system has never seen before is a little bit different: you'd want an algorithm that says, "well, I haven't ever heard these words before, but given [list of qualities about the audio] I'm fairly certain it's [voice actor]."
Image you're looking for a face, but you've only got a picture of the nose. The Shazam algorithm will say, "I've seen this nose before, so I'll try to line up the nose on every single picture I have until it's a perfect match".
Your algorithm would be, "well, I've never seen this nose before, but given my other pictures, who is it most likely to belong to?" You're never going to get a perfect match, but you can look at other qualities the pictures to try to make the best guess.
Edit: of course the algorithms are more complicated than that, but that should give you the jist

Any chance you kept up with this idea of an app and what's the current research on the topic? Considering how much AI has advanced in the last 7 years, would be interesting to hear if there's been any progress in this direction.
