Are other people noticing a trend for deliberately backfiring cars?

It’s the usual modified cars, but I’ve definitely noticed a semi-recent fashion for cars that rumble and pop and backfire loudly.
Maybe I’m just getting old

I laugh at how someone deliberately does this mod to their cars and they actually think its cool. lol
Its annoying as hell driving behind idiots like these on the road, tbh.

What’s with the deliberate backfiring of car exhausts today? Don’t these people know that it makes their cars sound like an old beater and piece of shit.
