Fun looking vs functionally fun?

I know it's first world problems. How do you balance the financial cost of fun/fast vs looks boring but is fast. Or if you get a boring car... FBO vs saving hardcore to invest or spend more later?

I prefer a fast car with a rather boring appearance. It makes the car actually faster as it get's less unwanted attention. No clue what you mean by FBO.

I mean, what's your budget? A lot of the ST, Si, GTi, WRX, and N's can be had cheap. Camaro SS and Mustang GT are high in power and relatively cheap if a few years old. Older M's, RS, and AMGs can be reasonably priced, but will have high maintenance costs. A Miata isn't fast, but very fun, with lots of aftermarket for power, handling, and looks. There's always more to cars than just the power. A civic sport can be tuned, but will have different gearing, no LSD, etc. So it really depends on what you want, and what your goals are. Fun can be had at every price point.

If you want something fun/fast it’s not worth doing modifications to a boring car to make it into what you actually wanted in the first place Just get a car fun from factory so that it comes stock as “fun”, and it will be reliable as you wouldn’t need to modify it to make it fun in the first place

You're much better off saving to get a performance car vs. doing bolt on mods to a boring car.

I can't think of a modern 2-door fun car that looks boring, not sure what you're asking here. Always a good idea to invest first and spend what you're comfortable with, but at the same time you only live once. Theres a balance for everything, and the balance for you might be different than for me. Anyways, a miata or brz/86 looks pretty nice, won't break the bank, and is pretty good fun. The used market has plenty of mustangs/camaros which are a tad bit faster on the track as well. Just gotta look around a bit.
