Why are they stupid? Because they're popular? Have you worn them? Betting not. I grew up dirt poor. Greatest sneaker generation? Sure, if you had money. I had Keds or whatever the fuck else was on sale. Never a pair of Nike. No Addidas. No Reebok. Keds... or whatever was on sale. Didn't give a single fuck about sneakers. Were you a jock? A lot of us weren't. 🤷‍♂️. And I've always hated wearing socks in the summer. So now, for the past 30+ summers or so, I'm usually wearing Chaco sandals. And a pair of Skechers tennis shoes. I don't even like the word "Sneakers". Are you 12? Shit, my 12 year old doesn't call them... sneakers. So one day, 3 years ago, my old ass was on a Caribbean cruise and this young guy with his girlfriend gets on our elevator. A couple floors later, another young dude gets on the elevator with his girlfriend. He says to the other guy "Oh, are those Hey Dudes?" "Yea!" And they proceeded to have a conversation about how great these shoes are. Shoes that are great without socks? 🤔 So when I got home, I promptly ordered a pair. And they're fucking fantastic for those of us not hung up on labels and those of us that prefer not wearing socks. And yea, 3 years later I'm looking like a trendsetter as my generation does what it always does: co-opts the younger generations thing. Yea, my 75 year old father in law just got a pair...(not a cool pair either...🙄). Just like we co-opted Facebook. I'm sure the kids have moved on now. So yea, I have 3 pairs today, my Chacos, and my 1 pair of Skechers. My wife loves that I don't wear my Chacos nearly as much, the shoes are comfortable AF and can be thrown in the washing machine. And you can buy replacement soles. They're actually kind of brilliant. You should try them.

No I wasn't a jock and I also grew up poor. My shoes either came from Kmart or a place called shoe carnival, which at the time was where all the shoes went that couldn't be sold in normal stores before outlets. As far as the word sneakers goes, you should hop over to r/sneakers and let them know how you feel, or let Nike know they need to rename their sneaker app. Complex, GOAT, StockX, SneakersNStuff and sneakernews.com are all going to be devistated they have been using the wrong term.

I had to google them. If I can buy them in black, I don't care much about the appearance of my footwear. What's the quality like? Comfort? Durability or price point makes it fair that they aren't durable? Then I'm all for them making their way to Denmark. I'm (for political reasons we're not getting into here) upset with Danish ECCO which I've been life-long loyal to - with the exception of those years in the 90s where I lived in CA. Right now I've got two of New Balance's cheapest women's models and some Rieker shoes, which I think is my new brand (or I'll buy Tamaris) - but I made mine better by replacing the insoles with insoles from my old ECCO shoes.🤷🏽‍♀️I'm keeping my old ECCO winter boots, I expect them to last the rest of my life.

I have always hated that particular shoe design. It dates from the 70s at least, probably earlier. They were typically suede in the 70s. Now at 55 I just don't wear shoes if I can avoid it. I wear flip-flops from March through November. Luckily I live in Japan where flip-flops made from materials like straw, bamboo, cloth, and leather, called *Setta* (雪駄), are considered traditional dress and were actually originally intended for walking in *snow* (the Chinese character for snow is contained in the name). So I can get away with entering almost any business but a very high class restaurant when wearing them. And I can even get into the latter if I also wear a formal kimono and tabi sox.
