Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon but I hate crap like that and feel embarrassed for them, especially if it's in a ticket. We're coworkers at work not role playing in some DnD campaign.

Nah everyone just has different tastes. I personally love when people decide to get a little creative and silly instead of the monotone world of business dialect all day long. But I have colleagues who would roast this guy to oblivion

Its been a rubbish week, shits on fire yo, we've all had enough, lets have some fun. Lets have a laugh. Some of my (very minor) outage emails have ended up being poems. You've got to pick your time of course. Middle of a huge business outage isn't the time or the place, but if its a very minor thing with a small group of people, yeah, lets all have a bit of a laugh.

Lol after ChatGPT debuted, I solely used it to write haikus that I appended to every help desk ticket close. I'm not doing that on serious change tickets, but it made my day with the normies.

It depends if you know the person. Having friends at work or friend-like exchanges is really a bonus for me. I couldn’t laugh with every one nor every time and best feeling is doing the needful but having some fun with some cool colleagues is great.

I would prefer official correspondence remain factual and impersonal. That request had a lot of unnecessary text if you have to filter through those messages at length. I don't hate fun, I just like efficiency.

I also am a professional and very blunt when I talk to others. However if I see this I usually play back, gotta keep in mind being casual at work can sometimes be a good way to blow off stress so don't be so hard on others for doing it. You don't need to engage in it but just know that the person on the other side probably is like "that person is no fun".

Not my genre, but enjoyed it anyway. 9/10 would not ignore this user's tickets. People who have fun with their work are usually a lot more productive than people who hate their jobs.

Honestly? I would hate to receive this. We are professionals, in the work place. You can ask for standard requests like a normal person in plain language. I get way too many tickets calling us IT wizards or gurus or any other word that basically says "you don't work hard you're just magic." You wouldn't ask your boss for a raise like that. Or time off. Or describe your requirements for a new location to the Facilities team. So why ask me for access to systems like that? Sure know your audience. Someone might like it.

I get this occasionally. As others said, you have to read the room, and there are times when it should be skipped. But I like to have fun and this is an innocuous way to do it. To those going of about professionalism, I deal with enough of that, and as long as it's not distasteful I welcome the break in the monotony. If I worked somewhere that this was truly frowned upon, I probably wouldn't want to work there.

I sometimes get fun responses in tickets, I would love one like this. And to those saying “i would hate this or this is not professional.” I get it. This really boils down to, reading the room, knowing your co-workers well enough that you can joke around while working. I wouldn’t do this with everyone. Not everyone is as receptive to being silly at work understandably. When and when not to be silly boils down to: -is this the time and place? -what kind of rapport you have with the person -are they your supervisor or in the C suite Use those as your judgement and have fun.

NGL, I did this in a few MMO's during my "Pizza & Dew" years, usually got a positive response from GM's reading my tickets. Ended up in a few F&F beta tests, too! A little lighthearted comedy can go a looong way for the poor souls who deal with as much b!tching and whining as a helpdesk team.
