All metal monoplane from WWI? That’s pretty uncommon

Junkers cl.1
Feeling_Pair_7143@reddit
why all forgot about Bristol M.1?
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Who forgot about it? Its just not made of metal
bake_gatari@reddit
The rear gunner looks awfully young.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Looks a little stiff too if you ask me
bake_gatari@reddit
It's a dummy?
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Don’t call him dumb but yes 🤪
bake_gatari@reddit
Ah sorry, I believe mannequin is the socially acceptable term.
Arrius@reddit
“I prefer‘Artificial Person’ myself.”
Guess where I lifted that line from.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Alien???
Arrius@reddit
Close. The sequel, Aliens. Bishop says it in the mess hall on the Sulaco
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Ahhh I was forgetting which of the two had that line. Nice callback 👌🏼
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Yeah they get a little upset over these things
Fowti@reddit
Yeah the plane is cool and all but I just want to real quick appreciate the seamless transition between the two images
efhucebucwjbxwbu@reddit
I was more impressed by the transition
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Thanks! It’s definitely my favourite one that I’ve made and makes the single original image more interesting. Thanks once again :)
scratchresistor@reddit
I didn't even notice, it was so seamless! Thanks for your work, very cool.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Thanks man! I appreciate it :)
KeeganY_SR-UVB76@reddit
Unfortunately, only works on mobile.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
That’s disappointing. Do you just see a black line through it or something?
Fwort@reddit
In desktop when you click to the next image it just instantly switches, it doesn't slide
pope1701@reddit
In RIF I just see it as a list of pictures (and the tail is missing)
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
The tail isn’t in the original photo so it’s not missing. It’s one picture which I then halved to make two portrait photos
pope1701@reddit
I love your idea with the seamless swipe.
Just doesn't work on all platforms...
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Yeah it’s a real shame. I was thinking about making some more but wish there was a way to make it work for non mobile users too
pope1701@reddit
Maybe do your thing in the first few photos and put the whole pic in the album last?
Would be a nice compromise...
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Actually yeah why didn’t I think of that? Nice idea! :)
Redbaron2242@reddit
It's a one seat aircraft and the "gunner" moves when the pilot turns the rudder. For some reason, just watched a YouTube on this aircraft.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
For the fly baby replica you mean? That’s really cool! I had no idea. I’ll look back at my other photos of them mock dogfighting and see if I can catch the dummy in a different position
Redbaron2242@reddit
Yes the fly baby. I was looking up the 2 seater and found the youtube about it.
Sikuq@reddit
wow that's a field of view improvement over a bi-plane!
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Definitely! I imagine pilots would have very much enjoyed that back in these days
mostlikelynotarobot@reddit
why would you post it like this
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Because it looks cool on mobile
Algaean@reddit
What a brilliant photo, stitched perfectly on mobile!
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it :)
StringerBell420@reddit
No offense, but this is not all metal. It is fabric covered.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
It’s a replica of an all metal plane. I realise that in my comment I didn’t actually state what plane it’s a replica of which is my bad but I do say it’s a replica
Luso_26@reddit
No, but it's a replica of an all metal Junkers Cl.I using a Bowers Flybaby as op already knows
ImJustReallyAngry@reddit
I don't know enough about this to agree or disagree, but as far as I understand, the Junkers J 1 was a proper all-metal monowing
They only ever made the one, but it's certainly got an aesthetic to it
FlyMachine79@reddit
This is a Bowers Flybaby - fabric-covered wooden airframe - the engine is all metal though, what they are replicating here is possibly the Junkers D1 which was technically all-metal but only appeared in limited numbers at the very end of the war - the Junkers J1 - a monoplane but quite distinctive not really looking much like the FlyBaby was incidentally the first all-metal aircraft to be produced
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Yeah that’s what I meant. I said in my comment this was a replica but I don’t actually think I said it was a replica of the D1 so I’ll edit that now. Thanks for the reminder :)
zevonyumaxray@reddit
This is a vague memory so I'm not sure, but in "The Blue Max", is this the aircraft type that was up for a demo flight that crashed???
particlegun@reddit
No it was a high-wing monoplane, I think it was meant to be a Fokker D.VIII. In the movie, they used a Morane-Saulnier MS.230
zevonyumaxray@reddit
Thanks for the info. It's been a long time since I saw that film.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
I haven’t seen the film so I’m not sure but if you can link me a scene where this happens I’d be happy to check
Teooooooo@reddit
The transition between images is so satisfying
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
I definitely agree. Was very pleased with the result
RinShimizu@reddit
Nah. Can’t be from WWI. They didn’t have GoPros until at least WWII.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
Oh yeah of course. Completely forgot

affix_custard@reddit
Great post. Thx for sharing.
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
No problem! Happy to share here
Glittering-Jello-935@reddit
Checkout the Bristol M1, she was a real looker
IntrepidTension@reddit (OP)
I used to be obsessed with that plane and the 1915 moraine saulnier N. I wish corgi came out with models of these two
