Why do teenage schoolgirls dress inappropriately?

Is there a short supply of knee length skirts? These are children, not adults.

Due to the exceptionally dry weather last year resulting in clothes material not growing fast enough, there is a short supply of knee length skirts this year along with shorts and sleeveless t- shirts. This rainy weather is now helping supplies as clothes are growing at their normal rate. Too much rain though and you'll see people wearing clothes that are way too big for them.

Why are teens dressing inappropriately.... Wasn't it aways thus - it's called rebellion. I recall having to wear a tie at school, but there was nothing about how, so the tie got knotted so that the thin end was out and the thick was in, or the thick end was out by 50mm only and the rest tucked away. Skirts have always been a bone of contention, and I can safely say that "they never looked like that when I was at school." I have cousins whose daughters got sent home for inappropriate dress (skirt length) only last week, and it was as simple as dress code says not above the knee, and they were 200mm above. Open and closed case. Summary - teens will teen

Oof, just seen that your original post asked why they "look like prostitutes" and it got removed. I think you might want to ask yourself a few questions.

Take your pick ; - Pushing boundaries - Trying to distinguish themselves from their childhood selves - Following fashion. - Internalising society's idea that a woman's worth is tied to her attractiveness/sex appeal - Any combination of the above Like all the generations before them.

they are teens.... teens like to push the boundaries. its always been this way. was like that when i went to secondary school in the late 90s and i see no reason why teens would of changed since then.. let em chill and maybe dont come over quite as....intrested bud

Because they can get away with it. When I was at secondary school in the late 90s we had certain standards which we had to conform to. Skirts had to reach the knee. Make-up was banned. Boys' hair had to be short. Shirts were tucked in. When I drive past my old school *now* during release-time it's sad to see the state of the dishevelled kids.

What exactly is "inappropriate" about the way teenage schoolgirls dress? I'll wait....

Why are you taking such close notice in what teenage school girls are wearing?
View on Reddit #9429247

heliskinki@reddit

\^\^ totally this. Adults aren't supposed to approve of what kids wear, they're kids. OP sounds creepy AF to me.

Why are you so interested in teenaged girls?

Self-expression. If you're not the one wearing the skirt, why do you care?

bro we've just had a 30 degree heatwave, what do you want them to wear?
View on Reddit #9429411

Because their mothers also dress like that.
View on Reddit #9429378

VisaTemp@reddit

Why do adults worry about what young girls are wearing? They wear what they want to wear. Whether something is "inappropriate" is up to them, their parents, and maybe the school.

Lol OK grandpa, you tell girls what they're allowed to wear like it's the 18th Century. If you're having a problem with girls and what they wear the problem is you not them.

Because teenage boys love it.

Teenage schoolgirls dressed like that when I was at school and I left in 1993. They dress like that because that's how they want to dress. It it offends you, then perhaps you should stop looking.

PharaohOfWhitestone@reddit

Exactly, girls have always pushed the boundaries of what's acceptable to wear. Boys too, but people get less offended by boys attire I guess. So long as it's not gone nuts and you can't see too much just stop creeping on them.

Because they can. Youth is more innocent (in attitude, anyway, not necessarily in deed). If people want to express themselves in this way, whether to be rebellious or feel daring or whatever, I'm OK with it.

The skirts are fine in theory but they roll them up to make them shorter.

This was asked when I was a child. Teenagers like to test boundaries and succumb to social pressure like all of us. Plus they want to fit in with their friends.
