Note that AAOptics get new shipments of refurbs once very few weeks or more likely one every month or two. The popular items that are also very competitively priced may sell out in a hour or two. They may not have many in stock. Get on your mailing list and use an address and app that will sound off on your phone. I use Proton Mail address and app on my phone only for such in stock notifications.
Some refurb items at AAOptics may only cost a little more new and others items like Defender ST red dots were cheaper new during Black Friday sales.

They sell both new and refurbished but there's no reason to buy new. I've bought 5 refurbished Vortex items from them and can't tell the difference from new. Plus, Vortex warranty covers everything for a lifetime so no issues getting anything fixed/replaced if something does go wrong.

The Ranger 1800 is definitely mispriced at $230. The Diamondback HD 2000 is the replacement for the Ranger and better in everyway, it's priced well at $200
Maybe out to couple hundred yards. More so looking for something that will be good enough for messing around with on hikes. Not really familiar with all the diff functions that viewfinders have
Vortex Optics Crossfire HD 1400 has more features than you need and it's the least expensive rangefinder that Vortex has in their current lineup.
You'll see the Impact 1000 listed for $120 on this deal which is what the Crossfire HD 1400 replaced and it's a big upgrade. The Impact will be fine for what you want it for but don't buy it unless you find it cheaper someplace else. If you're buying from the link in the OP, pay the extra $10 and get the Crossfire.
