New to construction industry

So after a few years dispatching for OTR, regional and local drayage, I got away from those nightmares and moved into dispatching construction; dumptrucks, mixers, and pumps. Beautiful thing, aside from getting away from sleepers, is that this is a brand new company. So I get to be the one to establish their dispatching operations procedures. Fun stuff. Upside is I get to make it my own. As long as it works, the owners gave me free reign. Downside is I know very little about construction. I know all about DOT, HOS, hazmat and bridge laws. But absolutely nothing about dirt, sand, hotmix ect. How should I structure my process? What do I need to know about dispatching this equipment? What's a good route building software? What should I avoid? Did I screw up?

u didnt screw up until people start thinking u did lmao, confidence is key always. i ran dump trailers for 2 weeks and we'd have a printed out schedule saying "go get sand from this place and bring it to this place" and sometimes we'd go and fill the truck up before the day ended so then itd be ready for tomorrow. we'd have a lil office space where we could go and grab the printed out schedule and the office space also had paper log books & reports we could fill out for broken equipment. idk if ur trucks will be running out of state but if they are then ur gonna need ELD's in the trucks (obviously). get feedback from the drivers to see what u could improve, ur w a startup which is fantastic cuz ur one of their first employees so theyll probably end up treating u well

Try to ask as many questions as you can about what it is they actually need and is there proper access to the dumpsite.any specifics they can give you.You will learn quickly what issues deliveries run into.Such as enough room to get in,level access so the truck isn't in too much of a lean,is there gravel or asphalt so the truck isn't tracking mud back onto the road.
