Trailer mechanic here! A few months back we had a potential customer come in from two states away missing his door, all 5 hinges were broken, he had the door in the back of his trailer and essentially what he needed was to purchase the 5 hinges (which we didn’t have the right ones) and for us to re-hang his door. This was on the weekend and most shops are closed my shop is 24/7 and it would’ve been an easy job for me to do if we had the parts, but did not. I felt awful sending dude on his way still with the door sitting in the back of his trailer but had no choice!

I bet the trailer was A: broken into B: getting decommissioned and they needed the door for another trailer that was vandalized or broken into

A company I worked for sent me to a DC out of town to bring a damaged trailer back to the company yard/shop. The amazon DC had somehow managed to rip off one of the trailer doors. They just threw it in the back of the trailer and left it in their drop lot after unloading. Company wanted me to drive it 60miles back to our lot past two very active scale houses. No thanks

I've had forklifts do that twice to a trailer I was pulling. One was an honest mistake and the driver clipped nothing but the bottom hinge with the bull guard and the whole door popped off. The other, was an inexperienced operator lifting pallets out from ground level. Genius only opened one door and when his pallet got stuck on the closed door he just kept lifting and pulling until the door came with him. I was less happy.

Wasn’t me, I’m governed at 65, not nearly fast enough to have blown the doors off.

Door probably got broken off while pulling in or out of a dock. Those hinges are made to snap away. I’ve picked up several trailers just like that to be brought back to our shop for repairs.

Yep, I had one snap off when forklift with a 12000lbs paper roll drove a bit too fast. The trailer suspension bottomed out and the edge of the door hit the concrete ledge under the ramp. Worst part I lost that load and the shipper was like "yep, not our problem goodby!".

The trailer is in ventilation mode. This is used when there is a strong odor in the trailer and the trailer needs to be aired out before the next pick-up.
