What was your A level results day like?

I took the morning off from my work, soni was at home, phoned my school, got told that people from abroad were phoning and to call back in an hour, called back. No-one expected me to make the Oxbridge offer I'd got (after I was told not to apply), including me, so I just needed CCC. Woman reads out string of As. It then occurs to me that's the key bit of my main offer done. S-level, one distinction, one fail, so I assume that's that. Woman points out I needed STEP not S level, where I have one distinction and a... can't read it, it's not a Fail... Can you hold while I make a phone call? Ten minutes later I'm told I've exceeded my Oxbridge grades - I didn't even know an Outstanding grade existed! So I have to readjust my head to a different uni. Went back to my work with 'disadvantaged youth' - the staff were all lovely, half the kids went 'what's a university?' Couldn't have been more of a contrast!
