Interesting how we are only hearing about all the crumbling schools. What about the hospitals, tower blocks, police stations, council offices etc?

We're not hearing about *all* the crumbling schools. We're hearing about schools in areas where councils have completed their checks. That's why loads from Essex are listed and none from Kent, for example. There will be lots more schools to add to the list later, along with other buildings, once they're checked. The current list is about 150 schools long but some estimates for the true total are as high as 7,000 buildings. Two important points: \- in most cases examined so far, only parts of the school are affected, not the whole school. So lessons will be able to resume once classrooms are reorganised. \- in many cases there will be no need for *urgent* repair. Once the problem is assessed, repairs can be scheduled for a more convenient time. So in many cases the problem will not be as disruptive as it seems at first glance.
