How to find historical reg

It’s a long shot, but are there any resources to find what plane flew a specific flight many years ago? I was on a Continental DC-10 from EWR-GRU on 1998-03-30 and would love to know if it was the same tail that was involved in the Concorde disaster a few years later. Return flight was 1998-04-11. Anyone know if this exists out there somewhere?

Can't find any flights on the specified dates & airports, are you sure it was those airports & the time was correct?

I appreciate your willingness to look! I am \*pretty sure\* those city pairs are correct...it was a group trip from Detroit to Newark to Sao Paulo and back. 99% sure on Continental...there's a tiny possibility it was a code shared flight my group of friends all seems to think it was CO (the DTW-EWR leg was definitely CO). I've been asking around to try and see if anyone has a ticket or boarding pass but of course it was all pre-internet.

No, the Newark to São Paulo segment was non-stop/direct

Correct- we would’ve left afternoon from DTW, as the EWR to São Paulo segment was evening/ overnight.

then that would be the scheduled 14:59 one, departed 14:54, flight number 0480, tail number N16201, which is a 737-130 currently scrapped, is that correct?

That will be very hard. Do you have a picture of the plane? Maybe something is visible on it that makes it identifiable. I am sure the records exist somewhere at United, but nobody is going to take the effort to look that up for you. You could still try to write to them, who knows?
