I don't know if this counts, but I live in Europe and I have 2 American cars from the 1990s. A Lincoln Mark VIII and a Ford Expedition. And yes, I do get question at gas stations and elsewhere, mostly about fuel economy and where I source my spare parts.

It's tricky. I'm as introverted as someone that is comfortable posting meant-to-be-found videos online every week can be, and a 2005 GTO is a weird mix of introverted and extroverted. Among sports cars and modern muscle, it's comparatively plain. It's definitely an extroverted color (Yellow Jacket) but I would have gotten it in blue if I had bought it new. I feel like it is usually overlooked by the general population and people that know what it is will ask questions about it. It's right in the ideal zone for me.

My GTO is black but even when it was Plastic-dipped Red it still went mostly unnoticed, loud exhaust is the only thing that will make people notice it. Most people have no clue what it is and had a few shocked to find out that it came from the factory with a V8. Personal I love having a if you know, you know kind of car.

I’d consider myself a relatively introverted person but I drive a modified Mazda Miata, lowered on coils, exhaust, wheels, etc. It has allowed me to become more sociable as people always ask me about the car and I’ve made a few friends because of it.

I was raised very Protestant and I think my personality is more than what I drive, so I don't bring up the fact I drive a bright-red Miata in a conversation unless asked. When they do, most times the conversation is fun, but it's the ones that aren't fun which are memorable. My coworker didn't just "not approve" of the purchase, she had to bring it up at length each time and lecture me for close to an hour about her feelings. Another thought I was selling government secrets to the Chinese. Another was keeping tabs on my location in time and would constantly remind me on and off-line.

Me being a quiet reserved person who's painfully awkward. I drive a loud rowdy modified corvette and the infamously over the top 10th gen civic it's fun getting comments even if I disapoint everyone that interacts with me. I do ironically like how social the communities for these cars are though like I like waving back at other corvette and type r owners and how they have lots of little events (even if I almost never attend)

I’m an introvert and went to a Corvette car show. Never, ever again. Nothing like getting lectured by an old guy for “modifying your car too much” though I’m fairly sure at this point I qualify as middle aged (urgh) Do you still love your C5 having a CTR? I sold an STi and ended up with a C5 (long story). I like it well enough but find myself missing the import car world and want to go back. I worry if I go back into that arena I won’t ever drive my C5 again.

Love a Corvette wave. Though the C8’s don’t seem to care. Every time I have someone approach me about my torch red C5 or pull up alongside and ask to roll down my window, I cringe expecting the worst. Surprisingly though it’s almost always been the opposite. Teenagers in loud WRX’s don’t want to race they just say “hey man, cool car”. Dudes at gas stations don’t talk my ear off, they just want to know if it’s a Z06 (it’s not) and give a nod. As an introvert I’ve been shocked at the reaction to driving around in a rolling midlife crisis. Now the plain Jane silver M5 on the other hand, that seems to get much more attention in a far more subtle package. Truly the opposite of what I expected from either car.

I don’t drive the supra too much and a large reason is just the amount of attention it gets. It’s usually positive attention and interactions but it gets exhausting quick, especially when pretty much any drive in the car leads to one or more interactions. I’m not a very social person and I typically don’t like having attention on me, so I’ve been tempted to either sell the car and move into something a bit more understated or just grab a cheap normal under the radar daily. I do loving talking about my car, and cars in general but I’m also often driving to and from various doctor’s appointments and I’m just not in the mood during a lot of those drives.

I'm reasonably introverted - not the most introverted person I know, but I definitely have a very limited social battery and prefer to either spend time alone, with my wife, or with my 3 other closest friends. I've owned a JDM MkIV Supra for the past 4 years because it's been my dream car since childhood. It currently makes about 600whp, sounds similar, and looks the part. It's an interesting experience, for sure. I definitely can't help but feel a bit on edge with the attention the car gets, but at the same time it actually serves as such an easy and convenient icebreaker, that often, social interactions get a lot easier to get going. I don't have to try to seek people out, to plug into other conversations. People find me instead, ask me questions, tell me about their own cars or their dream cars or their dreams. It's weird because despite being an introvert, I've never struggled with public speaking while simultaneously struggling massively to contribute to conversations on large social groups. I think it really comes down to the fact that I need to feel like I have the "talking stick", so to speak. I need to feel from the rest of the group/audience that I have the permission to speak, that they want to hear what I have to say and are expecting me to open my mouth. Once I feel justified, I can interact with strangers (albeit still for a limited time) without any real discomfort or anxiety. The MkIV gives me exactly that - it gives me a stage, a voice, a reason to open my mouth. So on most days, it's like a breath of fresh air. I'm never going to be a person that commits to knowing and being friends with or actively staying in touch with a thousand acquaintances. But I am, however, incredibly thankful for the people this car has allowed (pushed?) me to meet and whose stories I now know. I never would have spoken to many of them otherwise.

Oh man. I can only imagine with a MKIV. My friends and I are avid disc golfers. For probably 5 or 6 years we'd all pile into a car and drive the thirty minutes through the city to get to our favorite disc golf park. Halfway along the way there'd be an intersection with a light that was almost always green. If you glanced to the left when you passed the light, you'd sometimes see a MKIV Supra parked in the driveway of a house on the corner there. Every week (sometimes two or three times a week!) we'd be in the car, we'd approach the intersection and everyone would go quiet and crane their necks. "Supra out today?..." then the silence would be broken by either a collective "naaaaahhh not out today" or a gasp of "THERE IT IS! HE HAS IT OUT TODAY!" Finally after years of this, we caught the owner outside washing his car. He was probably slightly sketched out by four dudes rolling up in a tinted GS300, but we all stuck our heads out of the windows and complimented him on his car while excitedly explaining that looking for it had become our game for the past 5 years. It's such a stupid thing to be excited about, but hey. It's the little things in life. Something to keep in mind when you're out there rocking that Supra, you're probably making a ton of people's day just by existing and having that car around.

That's awesome! And yeah, that's another thing I hadn't considered - driving this car around does, as you pointed out, allow you put a smile on someone's face by just being there. And that's a really special feeling. My best buddy knows how to sing very, very well. He's not a professional, but he has performed at the House of Blues in Chicago and on WGN radio a handful of times. He can just start randomly singing some random pop or alternative or indie tune and win a room over. Instantly people start to smile, get excited, start singing along, etc. I've never had a skill that allows me to do that for people. To just light up their face like that. Until this Supra came along, that is. And that's so special to me. On a side note, since you mentioned the Supra game you guys played, my other buddy (a different one of the three close friends mentioned above) and I played a game when we went down to West Palm Beach to drive this car home across the country when I bought it. When we started driving the car up, we'd get primarily one of two questions from people: "Is that (referring to the right hand drive) legal?" And "IS THAT A SUPRAAA?" So we made a bet on which one we'd get more of over the course of the trip. The latter ended up winning narrowly. I think the score was like 15-12 or something.

Oh hell yeah I did. That's the biggest reason I went for an imported car. At that point, USDM manual GTE models were going for probably 80 or 90k, although to be fair, I did see a few heavily modified ones for 50-60. I got mine for 42k. Definitely needed a lot of work, but it made it 1200 miles home and then all the rest of the summer without any serious issues.

im very introverted and pretty socially awkward unless it comes to cars. i can literally talk for hours about anything car related. i used to be very social but ye olde vid-19 screwed that up and i basically lost most of my social skills. i really dont care for the attention i just like seeing people excited or hyped to see one of my cars. ones an over the top clapbox drift car that has no front end and is comically loud which turns heads and it’s definitely something out of the ordinary. the other one is a pretty decent looking and condition daily driver yet still turns heads but attracts much less attention (especially from police) which is extremely nice. it does get annoying when people start frothing and over complimenting over a pos 25-30 year old car. just makes for an extremely awkward situation knowing damn well how not worth any of the compliments either of them are. yea they are cool cars but they really aren’t anything unobtainable or special. once had someone come up to me at a meet and said “broo this car is so clean bro i love it.” completely unironically while standing next to the totaled quarter panel and 15 different spots of extremely obvious sun damage and other general spots of missing paint dents etc. on the other hand just having the people who know abt cars come up and say they love the chassis and enjoy the car for what it is does put a smile on my face. i see so much toxicity in the car community online (yes i have contributed to it here and there) but i really dont see any of it at all in person. most people are extremely nice and cool and are most of the time just like you. some guy or girl that just enjoys cars and take interest in the same hobby as you do.

My MR2 definitely fits the bill. I’ve probably told this story before: One day I was driving my MR2 to an appointment when I come across some 20-somethings in a Hawkeye WRX. I give them a wave since they’re in a kinda cool Japanese car, and they do the same, when I see an overpass in front of me. I downshift from 5th to 4th, then think “nah I’m gonna give them a show” before dropping it into 3rd and planting my foot into the carpet. I fly through the overpass feeling like Senna at Monaco as the V6 screams under load. When I don’t see them in my mirrors afterwards I figured they must have taken the exit. All of a sudden I see a bright orange WRX hauling ass to catch up to me. It gets alongside me and when I look over to them they’re all smiling and giving me more thumbs up than if Margot Robbie was driving! It’s yet another reminder that my favorite part of driving that car is seeing others get happy

I just checked (I was a bit surprised at the weight figures). The 2GR is apparently 174 kilos and the 3SGTE is 143 kilos. Close enough to make little difference I think especially if you're not running a turbo.

It’s usually hard for me to break in and start talking to people in a social situation, if that’s what you define introvert as, people usually have different definitions for the word. I drive a black-on-black-on-black 3 Series with the M-Sport Package but not completely by choice. If I wanted non-runflats from the factory I had to go with the gloss black wheels too. So it’s definitely shouty-er than I’d like it to be.

When my truck is the first year of the new body style and the color and it brought the tacticool tools out of the woodwork the first couple of years I had it. It was pretty bonkers some of the things people felt comfortable saying to complete strangers due to the color of my truck. The car draws some attention, but not much. Mostly smiles, waves and thumbs up. Kinda nice. Prior to the Porsche I had an S2000 that drew considerably more unwanted attention. A lot of people wanting to go light to light. That was weird.

I had an cat eye Silverado with 33x12.50 20's on a set of fuels that got a lot more attention than I thought it would and got me a few friends from meeting at stoplights and what not. However I put a brush guard on my 04 LeSabre and I got a bunch of really weird looks and a lot of people coming up to tell me they absolutely loved it. Ended up running the Buick through a mudhole that was a little to deep and it went from being a brush guard to a plow😢

Yes, but what makes it worse is that my previous car, a Subaru Impreza 2.0i hatch, was not an extroverted car. I’m fine with small talk and complements at the gas station, but what’s unsettling is when people pull up to me an roll down their window. There’s just that split second of “OMG, what did I do? This is how it ends, etc.,” but then they’ll just say “Nice Alfa, I’ve never seen one in green before.”

Leasing is probably the smartest way to go as they do *not* hold their value I bought mine CPO with super low miles for just under $40k with tax. The original MRSP was $47k but based on other new listings it probably only sold for $44k. I just got a letter in the mail offer from a dealer offering to buy it for $29k. Your Elantra N is probably worth more than it right now. In hindsight, yes, it would have made more financial sense to buy a new Elantra N or Mazda3 Turbo, but in the end I regret nothing as it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m introverted but I would never go out of my way to talk to someone in a random place about their car or anything for that matter. I have a 2004 Pontiac GTO that seems to get some attention. I’m in college and was driving back to my apartment which is basically still campus housing but just barely off campus when I had a guy follow me into the parking lot just to tell me how much he loved the car. He said he was also a student and that he used to have a red GTO just like mine. We talked for probably about 15 minutes about the car and different car projects we have going on. To me it’s a little strange because like I said it’s something I would never do. But the guy was cool and seemed to have a cool taste in cars.

I've always been introverted and shy, I rarely leave my home, but I like weird quirky cars and with that territory comes attention. I don't really mind it, in fact I kind of like it now, because it's never general small talk - I always get to talk about something I know well and enjoy. I had an '85 Buick Riviera in gorgeous condition, dark red over dark red with a dark red interior, that got a lot of attention from men aged 60+ and the odd younger person, but it was almost always just a quick compliment and nothing else. I only ever got comments on it between the hours of 8AM and 2PM, very rarely after. It was fun being out with a friend and saying "it gets a lot of comments this time of day" just to seconds later have an older man yell out "Nice car!! Glad it's taken care of!!" But the big one is the Autozam AZ-1, I've owned it for a little over a year now. The most attention grabbing car, short of a Reliant Robin I borrowed for a few days, I've ever seen. Oddly it doesn't get a lot of attention in motion, just "weird small car" looks from... well, everyone, but the moment the gullwing door opens it's often a swarm. Counter to the Buick if I want to drive discreetly I need to do it before 2-3PM, I can even go to gas stations and won't be bothered. But after that, when all the 20 and 30 somethings are coming home from work, that's when it's at full mast for attention. I can also usually tell right away whether it's going to get attention wherever I go by the cars in the parking lot. I was driving it to the chiropractor a few months ago (for fun, and to show why I need a chiropractor) and a car slowed down tremendously and flashed the high beams to let me into the left lane. We got off at the same exit and they got alongside me just to go "AUTOZAM?!?" and load me up with questions. It was neat. I've had various people ask me to open the door while at a stop light too, just to show off the gullwings. Never go anywhere in a rush in that thing.

I’m an introvert and I used to drive a lightly modified 2015 WRX in galaxy blue with bronze wheels. I currently drive a 2017 GTI that I’ve kept stock from an appearance perspective. Ended up in a lot of random conversations with Subaru and car enthusiasts driving the WRX. Happens occasionally with the GTI, but not nearly as much. I did make a friend at the gym a few years ago who started up conversation because of the GTI. I kind of miss having those sort of conversations outside of the car in parking lots, etc. I definitely don’t miss many young males in a moderately fast cars pulling up and expecting to race on the highway or at stop lights. I like to get where I’m going without attention.

Before I got my R33 skyline I was exactly this, shy, introverted and didn’t really have any friends. After getting it however it kind of forced me to talk to people at stop lights, gas stations, etc. and it actually really helped me become more outgoing and comfortable with being social. I’ve made some great friends that I wouldn’t have met without this car and I’m very grateful because of that. Getting a car like this can be very scary if you’re also like I am and are naturally shy, but it’s a fantastic way to meet new people and once you take that first step you won’t regret it.

I think people often confuse *lack of experience with other people IRL* with introversion. I mean we, humans, are scared of things we don't know or never did before (like having a small talk with strangers), and having an excuse to get outside of your comfort zone is extremely helpful and allows you to grow - and hobbies are no1 things to do that :)

I drive a really low indigo blue mk4 golf with gold alloys, white wall tyres, a big pirate flag on the back, big pentagram sticker on the back window with a full custom Birch Ply interior and big speakers. It had loads of rust which I sanded away filled, primed and lacquered so you can still the repairs. Yes lol. I hate talking to people and the only public events I actually enjoy are car shows, and even then I take my photos and videos and stay to myself. My camouflaged wrapped Camaro on the other hand just draws attention everywhere. Almost every time I go to the store I get "Hey! Can I take a photo of your car?" which is fine, I love sharing the joy of fun cars but what I don't enjoy is when I am clearly trying to go about my day and people want to start telling me about their uncle who had a mustang in college or their son who has a Mazda and put a cold air intake on it. I don't really care but I still smile and nod. What really never gets old though is when kids stop what they are doing to stare, or yell "HEY LOOK AT THAT!" whenever I drive by. That is what its all about. I don't do it for attention, as hard as that is to believe. I do it because as a kid I always enjoyed watching cool cars go by, and I want to be the driver I would always wish they were. One who gives it a little rev, or waves back, just anything to spark that joy in cars.

Pretty introverted guy here (at least when I'm sober). I've owned a fair share of extroverted cars over the years including a McLaren MP412C, SRT Viper, SL63 AMG, '65 Mustang, Mustang GT with roush catbacks, etc, and currently drive a Range Rover SVR with an AMG GTR on the way. Then again my dailies have always been neutral colour BMWs or big family SUVs. Having turned 30 this year I've toned it down with the colours at least. On the flipside there's extroverts I know who drive everything from Kia Picantos to Bentley Mulsannes. Honestly I don't think the kind of car someone drives says a lot about their personality unless they're really trying hard to make a statement with their vehicle.

People in seemingly every parking lot had questions; how far it goes, how long it takes to charge, what am I gonna do when it catches fire. Mustangs wanted to race, pickup trucks were coal rolling me or trying to run me off the road, tweens wanted to take selfies with it. Thankfully they’re about as common as a Camry now so a lot of that has subsided. It’s only once a month or so that a rando will approach me with questions. The real question now is do I punish myself like this all over again when the Cybertruck comes out…

I'm an introverted guy too, but I drive an Hyundai Ls Pony 1993. It's a very small and unknown car, so most don't care about giving it a glance.

Definitely an introvert, and my rigs are usually loud, currently that's a Honda shadow with mismatched exhaust and a jetting issue, so it's cold-blooded and likes to backfire, used to have an 84 Subaru 4x4 dd and offroad rig, one of the headers cracked at the flange, and eventually broke off completely, but it was a $200 car so I never fixed it lol, live in a small town so the people who already hated me would just seethe, and the people who hated those people love me haha.

I'm a quiet guy who dresses plainly to blend in, and I've got the bigger brother of your car in bright blue! I thought getting it over a Huracan will draw less attention but it's still been pretty relentless. I think people see our cars as "attainable" desirable cars and so feel they can relate to you more. Whereas someone who drives a Bugatti for example people will probably be more hesitant to approach and bother thinking they're someone really important.

Had a 2021 Supra and currently an M4. The Supra was red and got a lot of attention. Had to learn how to respond to “nice car” other than just a simple thanks to make things less awkward. The M4 gets much less attention, but when I do get a compliment it’s from a car enthusiast who knows what an M car is, which I like a lot more because it’s easier to talk cars with them.

I’ve always been an introverted person. I generally spend money on my wife and daughter first, not myself - with the exception of cars. That is my splurge area. I’ve had a variety of head turners - Cadillac Seville STS, then the refreshed Cadillac STS, more recently moved to Mercedes S Class models… we also had a CLK convertible that was a head turner and now the Mrs has a Range Rover. All in all, I’ll get stare, sometimes a “nice car” comment. As others have said, I worked in retail leadership for 25 years so I can have a surface conversation with almost anyone. I commuted A LOT and while these weren’t the best for gas mileage, I loved the cars and the comfort - so I figured I deserved them.

I guess I'm introverted. I'm not sure what an "extroverted" car would be but I've owned a lot of oddball things (especially for Texas). 500 Abarth, 124 Abarth, Veloster Turbo with matte blue paint, Buick Regal TourX, and now a bright blue Wrangler with top down and a Borla exhaust. The vehicle I've owned that got the most attention by a landslide, I shit ye not, was my Nissan Frontier. Just a bone-stock 4x4. Constantly bombarded with compliments about it. I don't get it. I had friends and family upset that I sold it.

It’s good to know I’m not the only introverted person in sales, I’m in a sales unsettled than cars though. Of all the attention the car gets, it’s pretty much all positive so that not a problem, as long as I’m not a rush to be somewhere it’s usually fine but professionally I work for a German company and the attention I get with the car from my colleagues and management in Germany is something that I absolutely don’t want lol considering that our biggest competitor in sales is an Italian company. It shouldn’t be a big deal but they could make an issue if they wanted to

I’m a pretty quiet and introverted guy, but I have a 92 Celica GT4. I live in the states, so the GT4 is rare af over here and you never see them. It’s not *loud* but it makes some noise, and certainly looks unique compared to what’s on the road. It turns some heads occasionally, but most people just see an old celica (if they even know what a celica is) and think nothing of it and move on with their day. The ones who actually know what it is though are all over me about it like “is that a real GT4?? That’s so cool do you go to meets?” and all that. I’m socially inept, but I still enjoy the rare attention it gets and someone asking me about my car usually pulls me right out of my shell.

I absolutely don't want attention. But I love cruising around in my '75 Oldsmobile Convertible. It's way too huge for narrow German streets and gets alot of attention. Bad stories are people breaking down on my speed on the Autobahn to make pictures while driving without considering whats behind them. Once i made a trip on a early saturday morning, around 6:30 am. Driving trough a small village when a semi truck was in oncoming traffic. The driver became so excited, waved and honked, with his air horns. I think people were awake after that and I lost a bit of hearing.

One of my Vehicles is a CCSB "Cat Eye" Duramax. Custom Paint (Derived from Summit White, Painted Black Roof). Only has a 2 inch drop shackle w/ the keys turned down, four inch exhaust, and 20" GMT900 Denali HD wheels. Overall pretty stock. It's an absolute dude magnet. Turns a lot of heads being rust free up in the Midwest, gets a lot of hate at gas stations from dudes in lifted sloppy jalopies.

I Had a GT86, a 370z and a MX5. The 86 got more Attention from my coworkers because they thought it was an expensive sportscar .... The 370z got Attention from an old Vice leutenant when i was still in my countries armed forces. Was Walking towards my Car at nicht when the Guy came strolling towards me and wanted to talk about it. The MX5 while being the funniest to Drive only drew negative attention, got flipped Off for No reason by some crazy nutjobs, a Guy with a Pickup Rode my bumper so much that when i got onto the Highway Exit and He still Rode it He almost flew Out of the corner and Had to Brake hard...man i would have Loved to See this moron end Up in the field.

I'm a rather introverted person, but I recently bought a red '22 Mustang GT that I absolutely adore. Tasteful black accents because I've been a sucker for the red/black combo since I was a kid. I guess that makes it stand out a little bit. I didn't realize how much enjoyment other people would get from it! I dunno, I guess I figured most people would be annoyed at another loud Mustang driving around (and they probably are), but I'll usually have a few people a month who strike up conversations and offer compliments. Lots of kids seem to enjoy it, most of the conversations have been with teens, but there have even been a few guys at work I hadn't talked to previously who tracked me down to compliment the car. 10/10 would purchase a "loud-ish" car again. It's like a built-in ice breaker 👍 Also, side note, I had no idea what "spinning" was until a teen at a gas station asked me "do you spin it". Turns out I'm old and out of touch, and I'm okay with that. I'll leave the spinning to the Hellcats 😂

I would have actually preferred a more subtle color but there wasn't much choice on the used market. I am introverted, ADHD and Aspergers, a few years back I got an 04 Lexus LS 430. I called the dealership to make sure they had all the records and took it out for a test drive before purchase. As I waited for the paperwork to be processed the sales manager at the Porsche dealership took me into his office to geek out with me about how cool the car was. I have never regretted that purchase and smile as I approach it and turn to look back as I am walking away still, four years later. Amazing road trip car and I am lucky enough to drive through mountain passes to and from work every day, the environment the car was designed for.

Surprisingly I get this a lot. I drive a stock gen 6 RS Camaro (fully loaded - but, it’s just the V6). Often they are driving a vehicle that cost 2x more - like a brand new Toyota 4Runner or loaded F150 for example. I think it’s simply that there aren’t a lot of camaros on the road. Whereas BMW’s, Audi’s, Dodge, and Mustangs are everywhere.

Yeah. Like top comment here, I had a Skyline in the US. R32 chassis. Absolute sausage magnet everywhere I went. I literally got some dude's phone number once as he wanted to hang out and shoot the car on film. Craziness. I'm a pretty reserved homebody and prefer to be alone but man I almost didn't have a choice any time I brought the Skyline out. Made lots of friends in that scene and it helped me open up a bit more.

I didn't expect my Sky to get the attention that it did. Plenty of Roadsters out in the supper up here in MN. Proved myself wrong, I guess. Non car people almost never know what it is, and are intrigued by the styling. Kids lose their minds when they see it, like it's some sort of super car or something. Car enthusiasts enjoy seeing it because there aren't too many Sky's (yes that's the right way to spell plural for this car) on the road at all. I consider myself pretty introverted, but I'm pretty fluent in conversation nowadays, especially with cars.

As an introvert female that drives some very extrovert cars, I felt I'm pretty trained at it already, I'm also lucky people in my area doesn't seem to care much. But the one time I drove a friend's aventador and tried to park it in a regular parking lot with alot of traffic around... the thing has terrible visibility and way overly sensitive sensors, with how low and wide it was... backing in was a nightmare. I could feel every eye on me laughing at dumbass doing 8 back and forth trying to get it right. There's probably some video some where titled 'idiot in lambo can't drive'. Oh and accidentally revving it while shifting gears down when entering parking didn't help at all. I think you can picture the scenario already :(

I can relate to your parking difficulty. I drive a convertible and that happens to me all the time. [My car](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/63/2c/09/632c09508771672f03eae63d480fbebf.jpg) isn't anywhere near as loud (visually or aurally) as an Aventador and of course doesn't get as many looks, but you attract attention in a convertible just because everyone can see you. You'd think visibility would be great but I feel like I'm sitting in a bathtub. I've decided to embrace the "idiot showoff can't drive" reputation I probably have by now.

I'm the opposite a bit. Extroverted (I can talk to pretty much anyone, especially about cars), but I try to drive quite reserved cars on the street. I'm the guy that tells you "nice car!" at a gas station or a thumbs up on the freeway though. Even if it's a car I personally wouldn't own, but appreciate the styling or mods, I'll still give kudos. The cars I have that attract a lot of attention tend to stay off the streets. Conversations usually end up being long because I can't stop talking. Haha

FBO E92 335i. I love wrenching on cars but I used to fear the attention from strangers that came with it. The casual “that’s a nice car” or “rev it” that I’d hear at stoplights made me incredibly anxious. I’m a pretty paranoid person, so I always worried the next step was getting carjacked or something. After owning my car for two years, I’ve definitely flipped to the other side of the coin socially. Now I’m the one who’s complimenting other cars at stoplights or at the gas station. I’m glad that my car was able to get me out of my shell and make me fear people less.

It feels good, and I can hold a conversation when I need to but it can be draining. However I love being able to answer questions or making someones day by just driving my dream car.

Actually, a non-professional "psychological observation" from me... a *lot* of introverted people drive extroverted cars. It's an indirect way of grabbing attention & feeling attraction under the guise of "transportation". Even some of the kids with loud exhausts (who rev the piss out of them) end up being otherwise pretty introverted kids, who don't have the personal extroversion to match the car. It's kind of like a "cry for help" or an outlet of extroversion they otherwise wouldn't have.

I have a 2021 Bentley Continental GT Speed, tuned by a local shop, it’s loud, has a tiny wing, and the license plate is my horse’s name. It’s all Black so maybe not super extroverted, but I will not lie, everytime people talk to me about it I’m super awkward. Like the car is nice and I get that. But I got it for myself, and like I love it for me. It just makes me happy everytime other people like it too, cause I’m like “wow I’m glad someone else got joy from what brings me so much” 😆 I just feel silly and bubbly cause I don’t generally like going out of my shell. Every now and again someone will ask me about it when I’m getting gas, and I just grin and tell them all about it lol! I even had someone ask to take pics of it, and I was so happy, I didn’t even get their email or something, cause I was just in the moment happy 😅 idk it’s a weird feeling, but I like that people like cars 🤷

Anyways, in 2009 I decided to buy a Porsche 964 C2 Carrera on Ebay. Got an amazing deal on it. Its put on almost $75k in value. I'm okay with talking to people, but I'm awkward and prefer 1-on-1 communication with people I know. I have a bright blue 1989 Chevrolet Sprint wagon and a bright red 1990 Chevrolet Sprint Turbo convertible, which lost all of its badging at one point. 4/5 times I'm filling up the red Sprint, someone asks about it, as it's usually the smallest convertible they've seen, and there's nothing to say what it is. I'm always happy to take a few minutes and talk about the car, even popping the hood and/or letting them sit in the seats to see how much room there is. So far, everyone loves it. It has a custom cam, giving it a lopey idle, which classic muscle guys like. It has a turbo and very noticeable BOV, which import guys like. And it's a very small, almost cute bright red convertible, which makes many people smile - Even ones who aren't into cars. It's the best $2,500 I've ever spent on a vehicle.

Not the shoutiest car, but with the big FMIC, exhaust and burble tune I get other guys commenting/asking about it from time to time. I handle it OK. It's a topic I'm passionate and knowledgeable about and the conversations rarely last more than a minute, so it's not normally too bothersome. Sometimes they'll say something out of left field I don't have a rehearsed response too, so I end up beating myself up for the rest of the day over my awkwardness, but it's rare. I am definitely an introverted person and for years I drove anonymous sedans. I've always been a car guy though so a little while ago I bought an F-Type. I wanted the coupe initially but after test driving a convertible because that's all that was available in my city I fell in love with the sound and experience of the convertible. So, I ended up driving a flashy convertible with one of the loudest shoutiest stock exhaust systems. I got catcalled by a woman, for the first time in my life, in the drive home. I started getting nods from people driving supercars that I can only dream of owning. People started taking pictures of me driving. So many strangers started talking to me about the car when I got in and out of it. It took some getting used to, and I'd rather not have the attention, but damn did I ever love driving that car. The experience was well worth the extra attention it brought.

My Cayman is a daily driver, and I got it in aventurine green to avoid extra attention .\_\_. Still get a plenty. Though, thankfully, people in Estonia are quite reserved and interactions are usually limited to waves and thumbs up. Never got approached at gas stations or parking lots. I drive a Mustang and Kona Blue isn’t a *rare* colour, but where I’m at it definitely isn’t as common as Oxford White, Black, or Race Red for certain. I pretty regularly clock people in the oncoming lane or on the street giving the car a double take as they pass by. Customers at work see the car in the lot and when they get inside they ask “hey, do you guys know who’s Mustang is outside” and they’ll say they like the colour etc. Older folks handing me coffee in the drive through will sometimes ask “what year” while they wait for my order to come up and I tell them and they tell me about their 65 or 68 or 71 they had when it was new and how much they loved it and how fun it was. Occasionally someone in a turbo accord or challenger or Camaro will rev at me at the lights. But mostly other Mustang drivers give me a wave or a nod and we drive beside each other for a moment before someone turns or speeds up and overtakes the other. Far and away though my favourite is kids in cars or kids walking with their parents down the street. If I catch them going “oooh” or the kid or their parent look at the car or acknowledge it in someway, I’ll accelerate from the light a little quicker or give the gas a quick tap and watch them smile and have fun. It brings me a little bit of joy watching a kid enjoy a car making vroom vroom noises, because even in my mid 20’s I’m a kid that enjoys a car making vroom vroom noises.

I bought a 350Z when they were new back in 2006 and I remember it being really obnoxious until they were "played out" a few years later. I drove it as my only car for 14 years, it was kinda fun seeing opinions come back around on them again. The M2 is relatively introverted for what it is, so I don't usually get compliments unless i'm at a place where enthusiasts gather. I value comments from those people much more to be honest. If you've spent 20+ years refining your automotive tastes and tell me you like my car, it does kinda mean something to me.

I'm a pretty big introvert, but man do I love seeing a stupid car. It was probably the fact that my dad ran his own bodyshop when I was growing up and always had stupid projects on the side, the most memorable was definitely a Smart car with a Hayabusa swap. I drive a lime green charger. It's actually my second lime green car with the previous being a Challenger. I've always loved sublime green since I was little but classic mopars aren't cheap so I went with newer. I get people asking if it's a wrap all the time. Lots of compliments. I've actually talked myself out of several cars to avoid attention. I rented a grabber blue Mustang GT for a week and the amount of people wanting to race, revving at red lights, and following you was enough for me to avoid muscle/pony cars. I nearly got a WRX STI when I was first getting into cars before realizing how...social the Subaru community. A few car meets and the young guys at the dealership all in WRXs and BRZs were enough to put me off. But nothing compares to my buddy's 10th gen Civic Type R, which is very rare in the poor Deep South filled with 4x4 lifted trucks. He got it within months of them coming out, so a lot of people that was the first time they ever saw one in real life. Every gas stop and road trip was eventful in that thing. I've mostly owned sporty trims of regular cars and I still get comments just because I like nice paint jobs in eye-catching colors. Every car I've owned has been blue, orange, or purple. I'm still very introverted but I'm not anti-social or awkward anynore, I think I'm going to finally cave in and get a Corvette and paint it a dark green.

I've never minded light attention but don't care for the "how much was that?" conversations with follow up questions. I've learned to say "Too much but I got a great deal" even if I didn't. I've considered mid engine Ferraris and even had a deposit on a Huracan because I love everything about them for my enjoyment of the car (aside from the lack of a manual transmission option), but ultimately decided to stick to Porsche for the more subtle approach to high end sports cars.

I drive a 1.4 liter Chevrolet Cruze and no one ever notices me 🤣 Love it except for it's slow as hell. I used to have a Camaro and a Trans Am. Crashed the Camaro and overheated the Trans Am. Oh also I had a straight-piped 5.9 liter Cummins and a straight piped Taurus SHO which were both loud AF. I've grown more conservative in my 30s. But the 34 MPG really makes me happy.

I get comments and people wanting to talk about it about every time I take it out. The most common ones are "they don't make em' like this anymore" "Do you know how to work on it?" and usually vaguely racist comments about foreign cars \*sigh.

Only a little bit extroverted, more like "exposed". My weekend-funcar is a first-gen MX5, which brings two challenges: 1. It's a convertible. You can't really "hide in the car". Also the window line is somewhere stomach-level-ish. And it does stick out among the sea of compact-crossover-cucumbers. 1. Also pop-up headlights. 2. I got involved in the community of the car, attend meets, which helps to "thaw out" a bit and actually talk to people irl for fun.

I realized I'm cool with having extended conversations with random people at gas stations and self-washes due to my AE86 and S2000. Unexpected 1-3 hour long conversations often turned into acquaintanceships or friendships from pulling up for a quick wash near midnight. Still surprising when someone initiates conversation since you don't see your own car as out of the norm. 86 is easier to make friends with, because weebcar and that means other shared weeb interests. People are genuinely happy to see one when they know what it is, and the enthusiasm is contagious. S2k related interactions can be... interesting. Those are not always easy conversations, especially lately when everyone's a JDM speculator and is trying to get a deal. Had a guy get mad at me for what I thought was a normal lightly self-deprecating joke about my own car which is a daily with some wear and tear and a questionable history (e.g. "you wouldn't want this specific shitbox, bro") and saying I should sell it to them if I don't respect it. Like, damn, didn't know this was a religion. I can't relate to people who take cars too seriously, so s2k interactions can be a minefield.

I'm relatively introverted and prefer not to stick out with my vehicles, but I *had to* buy my 05 STi when the opportunity came up. The world rally blue paint, gold wheels and big ass wing scream "look at me", but I like the car because of its motorsports history and the livery reference. It is the only car I've owned where people come up to you at a gas station or take pictures while you're driving. So far, everybody has been respectful and I appreciate that. More than once, kids on the side of the street have waved at the car and just me beeping the horn made them go crazy. The car doesn't hide in plain sight at all lol.

I feel like the STis get more attention now since there’s less of them and the WRB / gold is way more iconic than the other color combos. I miss mine immensely now. I am fairly young and drive a 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet I love/hate the attention, I only really drive top down during the Florida sunsets or with my few friends I have/trust I feel like if i were ever to sell it I would miss it a ton with how fun it is to drive, however it does lack alot of important safety features in todays vehicles (no rear view camera, no nav system, and no blind spot monitoring)

I am introverted and drive a bright red BMW M Roadster as my weekend summer car. I thought I would not like having a convertible but I do love it. Not for the attention but for the sense of speed and visceral feeling it gives you with the top down. I sort of hate being in stop and go traffic in it but I just look straight ahead and pretend I have a roof. I have had a few people shout nice car while driving and I just wave and say thanks. I have not had anyone say anything other than "nice car" a few times at the gas station and those short conversations are perfect for me!

I kind of hate some of the attention. I drive an NC Miata, and if I see someone coming in the opposite direction frantically waving, flashing the lights, or popping the headlights up and down I’ll do my best to acknowledge them then put as much distance between us. Mainly because that person wants to do one of three things: 1) talk about lug nuts or gear knobs or sone other weird thing, 2) get me to join a Miata club, or 3) chastise me because my car is dirty or because I drive it year round or sone other behavior that means I don’t deserve to own a car that I purchased with my own money. These people are ducking weird and I don’t particularly like dealing with them. I have less of an issue in our MGB, generally you get a lot of kids oohing about it, or old men trying to tell you about the car they had back in 1966, and fewer of the nerds who are angry because you drove the thing around and you’re missing a bit of trim on the grille or something

I had a camaro ss with the factory dual mode exhaust. I really miss that sound and v8 feel somedays. But a big reason why i traded it in was because it was too loud. I personally didn’t mind it at all and it was actually nice and quiet on the inside, but i felt bad because whenever i started that car in the morning, i swear that car wakes the gods - and that’s inside my closed garage. My gf’s neighbours actually made a comment about it making their dogs bark when i left late nights. I would compare the stealth mode to shooting a glock instead of a 50 cal. I always loved to rev the crap out of it on the on ramps but sometimes felt like i had to quickly drive away because i was embarrassed that people would see lol

Introverted dude, drove a lime green slammed riced out Honda Civic in a town of 200,000+ people. Wasn't another car that looked remotely like it in the city, and people either loved or hated it. People gathered around it in parking lots, I got yelled at at gas stations, extreme tailgating (mostly by jacked up trucks), people wanting to race all the time, got silly stringed in a parking lot, got thumbs up out of car windows, discussions... It was weird, I didn't enjoy a lot of that but I kept wanting to drive it anyway.

I do and it actually pisses me off. I have a 1979 Buick and a 2005 CTS-V. Both of them have built engines with noticably cammed idles. I'm all the time at gas stations and drive thrus getting harassed by people. I don't have them for attention I have them for my own personal enjoyment. Yup - I had a blue C7 with racing stripes, and a red LS-swapped Miata at one point - both seemed to attract attention whether I wanted it or not. At least the Miata was sorta stealthy when not running, the C7 was straight up a "witness me!" kind of car. I've never really been a fan of loud cars - literally or figuratively. Nowadays I'm really liking this new BEV "silent speed" thing, where I can have a plain looking and quiet car that's actually quite fast.

I'm a very introverted person and I've always liked fast cars. I've had several Trans-Ams, a 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 and a 1980 Turbo TA that smoked like James bond was driving it and trying to get away from Jaws (lol for parts only, I hated driving that thing in public). I would be afraid to drive one now because they are so expensive, probably get stolen. Now I drive a 2008 Accord V6 Coupe, looking to replace it with a big Toyota or maybe a Lincoln Town Car.

My cars are pretty plain but I ride sport bikes. When I was younger and didn't like cutting people off I did get stuck a few times having my ear chewed off by guys who all had the same story about how they used to have all these crazy bikes and were a bit of a legend around here and were faster than anyone around the hills and a bunch of other shit, but don't ride anymore because their wife made them sell the bikes or something. Now I'm fine just politely shutting them down, and it is kind of nice occasionally running into someone who actually knows what they're talking about so it's all good.

Pretty introverted but prone to comedy when I get into conversations. My Z3M Coupe definitely gets the most attention. I've had people chat with me about it at gas stations and when I lived in an apartment. I've had 3 notes left on the car from people wanting to buy it. The C3 Corvette, I've gotten some thumbs up while driving before, and it's the only car where I've had women compliment it and ask about it.

Out of all the vehicles I've owned, the one that got the most attention initially was my '86 Isuzu P'up, until people found out it wasn't the diesel model. Same convo everytime; "Diesel or gas? Gas... Oh, ok." The other two would be a beat up '86 Trans Am, and a 370Z. Neither got a lot of attention at the pump, just a lot of rednecks wanting to race. That just got annoying because jfc, I'm just trying to get to work, plus my job relies on my license, so no thanks.

At a track day, then I love talking to some of the people there since I can always just talk about cars and driving techniques. I drive a 2023 Camaro SS 1LE in radiant red metallic tint coat. I say that over "red" because the normal red looks meh while the GM dark metallic reds stand out a ton. Seems like a flashy car to me lol

I think it's possible to be an introvert but also like to attract the attention you want. I've had a couple classic cars, nothing special really but unique (76 Mg Midget and 76 El Camino) I'd get a lot of looks and comments. They came from people who appreciated them like me, so it was welcome attention. Even with my current car, Buick Regal TourX, it's so rare that I'll occasionally get some attention with it, but it's welcome.
