Did your parents ever apologize to you for something they did when you were young?

Yeah, they've admitted that they fucked up pretty massively when they sent me to a troubled teen trauma factory at 14. But I had already forgiven them because I saw the brochures and promo video when they did when I was 14 and said I wouldn't fight going. None of us had any clue what those places are *really* like. They didn't know what to do with me. I didn't figure out what the root of all my issues were until 2 years ago. And that's after 20 years of pubmed research on early childhood trauma and development. None of us really could have made better choices. We were just trying to do the best we could with what we had to work with. I probably should have a sit down with them and tell them that it all came down to a medical issue that they did their best to manage, but I was still in incredible pain for the first year of life. No one knew then that kind of thing messes up a kid's brain for life. They had put me in therapy starting at 7. I was diagnosed with ADD and ODD at 9. But since no one could figure out the root of all my issues, we were just playing whack-a-mole with symptoms and behaviors. Mom and dad have been great parents and have done the best they could. But we're all human and can't know everything. They made mistakes. I was an ASS HOLE as a kid. My brain is a little broken. We've all apologized. That said. I've raised my kid differently than I was. I admit when I've made a significantly smaller mistake (like fucking up plans) and apologize. I've also put myself in time out because I was having a hard time managing my emotions. Lead by example and all that.
