Visiting Budva as a Black tourist

Hello everyone,
I am Black man and I live in France. I came across some TikTok videos of Budva, its beaches, and its beautiful scenery, and they made me want to visit your country.
Montenegro looks like a wonderful place, but it is not a destination that many people around me usually visit, so I do not really know what to expect.
This would be my first time visiting Montenegro, and I would be traveling alone.
I would like to ask an honest question: as a Black tourist, do you think I would be welcomed in Budva?
Are there any areas or neighborhoods you would recommend avoiding, especially at night? Is there anything in particular that I should know before visiting?
I would be very grateful to hear from locals and people who know the city well.
Thank you very much for your help

When some EU countries in 20th century had human zoos with black people in them, ex Yugoslavia had student exchange with African countries... You're most welcome sir

Hello, time traveller.
pumpasklitas@reddit
is Tito still alive?

The problem with that is human rights and bigotry arent on a constant decline as time goes on, they wax and wane. Just because people were welcoming at one point, doesn't men they will always be. People note that France was less racist before the whole migration thing. Right wing has been spreading its toxicity all over the world, so while I wouldn't say POC are unwelcome here, its not impossible for that to happen.

Right, certainly ex YU declined since then, but I'd say it's still less likely he'll face racism here

Balkans is not like the France. People would welcome you.

I mean, they will be casually racist all the time, but also generally friendly. That's the Balkan way.

Always love it when westerners ask questions about specific countries here instead of country-specific subs so we can all participate and spectate the discussion.

I dont think you'd run into many problems, but black people a REALLY uncommon on the Balkan peninsula, so its possible you might get more stares that normal and someone might say something offensive on accident.
emuu1@reddit
You may be met with some longer stares from people that may have not encountered too many black people in their life, but I think people will you treat you the same as any tourist: rip off your wallet :)
PersimmonTall8157@reddit
You won’t get any kind of hostility or harassment against you, but black people are a rare sight in Montenegro so you will attract attention.

You would be more welcome to Budva than me walking around Paris with a cross tattoo on my forearm 😂
