Friend using my boat - what insurance

I would like to allow a friend, an experienced sailor, to use my boat without me. The boat itself is insured. This is in the US, and I couldn’t find a skipper insurance for US citizens for him.

Any tips on how to best do this so we both are protected best we can?

Check your policy wording, on mine anyone using my boat with my permission is covered.

Have you called your agent to ask if a friend is covered borrowing your boat?

Where are you? In the USA most boat policies provide the same coverage for a friend that they would for the owner, as long as the activity isn't commercial in nature (e.g. a rental or swap).
