Use a network which offers wifi calling.
Donny-Kong@reddit
Have you tried ee? Just donโt pay ee prices try one of their subsidiaries. That was the only network that sort of worked. Coverage checker stated 3 and voda were both good but found that not to be the case and was only acceptable when outside.
Alternative-Emu2000@reddit
Do you have home broadband? If so, you might get better results by using Wi-Fi calling on your mobile when you're at home.
Bear in mind that VOXI and Smarty are both virtual providers that use the network infrastructure from Vodafone and Three respectively.

Just tested this by calling a relative in the part of our flat which has the worst signal. Worked great! Though I do have to keep my phone in airplane mode as it won't do WiFi calls without it ๐
MillyMcMophead@reddit
I have a terrible mobile signal where I am on all networks but do have full fat fibre internet so I use WiFi calling on my mobile. It'll automatically switch to the mobile signal if WiFi isn't available so for example when you leave the house.

Back in the noughties, you could get a little metal sticker that went under your battery and boosted your phone's aerial signal...
Probably not a thing anymore?ย

Are there any flats above you, or any houses or buildings...?
Maybe ask around if other people have the same problem.
Your best bet is going to be a signal booster on a long pole or mast. Check with the council how high this can be.
UnacceptableUse@reddit
You can buy signal boosters but they're not cheap. You may get better coverage on a different network - have a look at signal coverage maps to see if any of the networks are particularly better than others. Most networks also support WiFi calling which will help if you are in your house and have good WiFi

Didn't know the WiFi calling was a thing! I've toggled it on. Hopefully this helps from now on

Voxi supports WiFi calling. You can turn it on in your device network settings
penny_lab@reddit
As someone who lives rurally, check the settings on your phone (can be tricky to find, sometimes it's in the main settings, sometimes only in quick access links) and make sure you have VoIP or Internet Calling enabled. This lets you use the WiFi instead of signal.
DeapVally@reddit
Welcome to Village life. I've never heard of your network provider, so they won't be any help. Get a new one and hope. As for calls, you need WiFi calling. Or a good old fashioned land line.
MadMixer1198@reddit
This. I'm with VOXI, they're a budget provider piggybacking on the Vodafone network. I have a Pixel 6a which is getting on a bit now but has WiFi calling, and it's worked well enough for me.
geesegoosegeesegoose@reddit
Wifi calling should be available on most networks these days. Look at how to turn it on on your phone and check your provider supports it. It uses wifi to place calls through your regular phone app/number - don't misunderstand it to be the same thing as calling through WhatsApp or another third party app.
geesegoosegeesegoose@reddit
Also, I'd recommend asking local people what network they find works well in the area.
metamongoose@reddit
Get a PAYG sim for each of the four network providers - EE, O2, Vodafone and 3.
One of them might be better than the others.
Aware-Plankton-8711@reddit
Just get a decent internet package ideally ultra fast fibre and turn on WiFi calling problem solved ๐
TedBurns-3@reddit
VOIP? WiFi calls?
Unfortunately it's not cost effective for the telecoms companies to put the infrastructure in when they won't get the return, so I doubt mobile signal is ever going to improve dramatically.
plangant@reddit
Ofcom Signal Map - If you have Wi-Fi, you could turn on wifi calling, which may help?
