What's the most you've ever spent on a single mod for your car and was it actually worth it?

Just dropped $1,300 on a front bumper for my Bronco. Starting to question my life choices. Curious what other people have spent and whether they'd do it again.

I spent $500 for a Goodwin Racing Miata exhaust and it was 10,000,000/10 worth it.

A Nice Steering Wheel and coding Equipment ist always the First thing I look out for

Wiring kit for my 1981 f150 ranger. And yes it was worth it. At first I bought a painless kit and if you know what you're doing it might be fine but for me it wasn't. Then I bought an American Auto Wire kit for it and it's been a lot easier now. I'm still stalling on it because I'm scared of it not going right and who knows but that's not the kits fault.

Wheels
Yes.

Fuel Injection conversion was about $2k after buying new fuel tanks and the other stuff I needed. Definitely worth it. A close second is the 4 wheel disc brake conversion. I was able to do all of the install work on both, but it meant learning a couple new things I'd never done.

Just under $3000 for a Vintage Air system in my Squarebody after some previous owner gutted the factory system. Worth every penny.

OP, if the paint matches, $1300 for a new front bumper isn't crazy.

I spent $2000 on a lightly used set of KW V3 Clubsport coilovers.
They are really nice and I'm sure worth it to the right person. I love how my car looks lowered, and that it keeps a good damper underneath.
Hard to say whether $2000 was worth the mental health benefit of feeling I have a cool car.

$500 for a tune on my MK4 Jetta 1.8T. totally worth it
No_Yogurtcloset_9605@reddit
About $7k for a forged short block for my track car. Yes it was worth it.
jointdawg@reddit
20k for a supercharger
Smedum@reddit
Does PPF/ceramic count? $6,000 for full car 10 year Xpel PPF….:if not then $2,000 on a. Eventuri intake for my M2. The PPF was definitely worth it. The intake I think I could have gone for something less expensive and been happy.

$1200 on coilovers for a toyota echo haha.
AvarethTaika@reddit
single part, probably the kaaz diff or turbo, both were around $1300. If we count sets of parts, either the te37s or rocket bunny kit. each was in the $4k range.

$4500 for a GM crate zz350 for a 73 RS Z28. Was sweet

$8k twinscrew supercharger for my $6k wagon.
Yeah, it was worth it. 400hp, manual, LSD, mostly stock looking wagon.
Auto_update@reddit
~$800-900 on a tuner x like 3-4 tuners over the years.
Factory fuel mapping is lean to meet regulations. Run cooler, bump in hp and maybe even mpg, tell myself it will eventually pay for itself… eventually maybe I’m sure of it.
peteroast@reddit
$1000 for a performance software upgrade that chopped off .5 secs off of my 0-60 (now 3.9).
gabgab33@reddit
New 8.8 Rear end on my RX7 for about 5k total. Best mod I did ! the car drive way better now.
Other one was a widebody kit at about 8k total. Not really worth it, but I don't regret it at all.
Poil336@reddit
A lot more than that lol
daver456@reddit
I’m about $4500 into some Bride racing buckets + seat rails for my S2000.
The seats are awesome but man that wasn’t cheap. I’m not sure if my OCD could handle it but if I ever do this again I would probably only do the driver’s seat and save a ton of money.

I was all ready to replace my 2016 Tacoma with a new 2025 but they no longer offer a version I was interested in. Decided to spend like 10k on front end parts. Rides like a dream and is a configuration that works for me
hawgs911@reddit
$6k for custom forged wheels and tires. Yes.
daniel-rhys@reddit
$5000 on a performance engine rebuild for a 1979 Triumph Spitfire. All the machine work and goodies to turn 48hp at the crank to hopefully 90-110hp..
jimbojonesFA@reddit
not really a mod per se, but i spent about 1200 in parts to rebuild the entire a/c system which had been left gutted (bc sports car! thx prev owner).
saved a ton on labour doing it myself and my God was it worth it though.
cactusjakal@reddit
About $2k for BC coilovers and a full front end rebuild on my b8.
Absolute ton of work and took almost two weeks after breaking a steering knuckle and wheel bearing. But oh my god it feels like a new car, it rides better than stock, handles like an actual performance car should handle.
e36@reddit
I spent about $2,000 on new wheels and tires and Ford Racing suspension for my 110hp first gen Ford Focus. Strangely enough it ended up being a great idea.
cactusjakal@reddit
If you can't really do much in terms of power you might as well do handling mods
tasfalen@reddit
Probably about $500 for a Volumex supercharger for a Lancia beta coupe. Totally worth it for the sound and it was a blast to drive! Unfortunately, it was already an old car with rust issues, and hadn't had the best life; it did not survive long after the transplant!! 😞

I’m 10k into a car I bought for $600 ten years ago and is now worth maybe 6k if I’m lucky. I think the most expensive thing was the turbo itself. Was about $1300 for a genuine Garret gt3076r
Maybe my intake manifold. I think that was like $1500 because I bought all the accessories with it.

86 VW Jetta with a vr6 turbo swap. Recaro interior and every little OEM plus thing I could find for it.
S7alker@reddit
Can’t remember the full cost it was long ago but took my stock 3.27 rear to 3.73 and it was worth it for city driving but I did feel 3.55 would have been better since I was pretty 50/50 city/highway driving and it felt too much for highway.

Prices before tax:
KW V3 coilovers \~$3300
Brembo GT 380mm front brake kit \~$4000
GeneralKosmosa@reddit
About 1100 on a 2 inch lift for my Nissan Frontier, it came with UCAs and new shocks so I’d say it was well worth the price, although it does ride a bit rougher now
zyberteq@reddit
€1500 for a Atomic Teal and dark grey metallic two-tone wrap for my Smart Roadster 6 years ago. Definitely worth it.
