Are you Fearless

I love being Gen X. All the things about drinking from the hose, the half mile away whistle from dad for dinner. They all ring true.
We are the only generation to have a foot in both season; analog and electronic. I remember a teacher showing us a computer in 1980 in 6th grade and the cursor was blinking. Her smile always stuck with me as she showed us the future. My first aol address in 1994. Mine was the last class or two to go through college without email. I remember I’d bar tend and go over to a friends house who would be sleeping but he’d leave his word processor on for me; that yellow syntax on his screen, the only thing glowing in the room.
I had every variation of cell phone starting in 1998. Right around iPhone 10 I started missing features, I couldn’t keep up.
We watched someone land on the moon “allegedly”, rotary phones, computers, cable, MTV, Space shuttle explosion, John Hughes films, the internet, social media, wellness exploration and yes, even aliens (grabbing popcorn for that one). I’m interested to see what form of “college” is around in 9 years when my youngest is 18. She will probably take a job that hasn’t been invented yet. I find myself questioning the Prussian based education system, the work 40 then retire with what you have and die. That sucks.
At 56, (I turn 57 in a couple weeks), I still look at men my age and say “yes sir” like I’m talking to an adult. I feel like I’m just getting started. I’ve taken a job at a start up in AI, basically putting all my eggs in one basket and I love it. I feel alive. I am trying to be in best shape of my life. I dress in a way that is proud of the work I’ve done on my self. I got another tattoo last year on my neck. I wish I didn’t care what other people thought 25 years ago. I’d be a bazillionaire.
Energy is a weirdly fascinating thing. Your aura, manifesting, connecting and resonating, matching frequencies. Anecdotally, I believe we are all CD’s in a CD player; that sound of it accelerating quickly to produce frequencies (music) that affect us emotionally. How fast are you spinning and what music are you making?
Someone recently said “I put the worst of me out there for everyone to see, and it was an epiphany when I realized no one gave two shits either way.” This.

Pertinence to GenX - Posts may be removed if they are not pertinent to Generation X in a specific way.
This includes non-specific ramblings, any sort of conspiracy theories that have nothing to do with GenX, or posts about people who happen to be GenX….and that’s it.
AI videos or articles MUST have the proper flair identifying the content as AI.
Just because an article or video mentions Generation X does not automatically make it pertinent. Moderators will make this determination at their discretion.

The amount of inane back-patting in this subreddit is seriously embarrassing.
