What’s the one travel upgrade you occasionally think is actually worth it?

I’m normally as budget-minded as it gets when traveling, but I’ll admit long-haul flights test my limits.
I’m not talking about paying ridiculous money for premium travel, but I recently started comparing prices just to see whether business class ever lands in “reasonable” territory. Surprisingly, there seem to be more options than just airline pricing if you dig around for business class deals.
Made me curious whether anyone here has a personal exception to the budget rule for really long flights, or if the answer is always “save the money and suffer through economy.”

Flying with a better airline, e.g. JAL or Korean - those few extra inches in economy take so much of the pain of longhaul you find on many other airlines away.

Nonstop or as few stops as possible.
Pay to select an aisle seat. If traveling with hubs, pay extra to sit in a 2 seat row if possible (he likes the window, I want the aisle, he gets up 2345234547 times during the flight, I eventually take his window seat).

The occasional really amazing stay stay somewhere special is worth a splurge

I pay for a seat selection sometimes but that is it. I’ll be uncomfortable for 10 hours to save thousands.

Sans some emergency I'm not flying unless I can pick my seat.
I might consider a guaranteed isle or window of that was offered.

You can usually pick it at check in even if you have to pay for a seat, I’ve only ended up in middle seats on very low budget airlines. If it’s under $30 I’ll pay for a guaranteed aisle seat though.

This. I don’t mind paying a little extra for a comfortable seat on a long haul flight. I’m usually fine on a fairly short domestic flight. But international, I’d like to choose the seat I want

Exactly. Sometimes I get close to pushing the button for an upgraded class, but then I translate the cost into the number of extra days I can stay in the location if I squeeze myself into economy.

Why did you use ai to write this

I’d rather pay extra money for a car to pick me up at the airport or early check in or nicer hotel. Money for plane seat doesn’t do it for me. Though I would pay to select my seat if I’m traveling with someone.

I always take economy,as low cost as possible.
I don't mind flying and I don't find even economy too bad.. I'm used to very long overland trips using less comfortable buses, minibuses etc..planes are not a problem.
I'd rather spend the extra money on traveling more, seeing more things, activities and experiences than on upgrading my flying experience.
