Bro bought a controller then doesn't play any games on a controller
SoupaMayo@reddit
As a big fan of the previous version of the Steam Controller, I look forward for this one, the old one had some problems like the fucking lack of a right stick
gleeble@reddit
The old one was basically a Civilization playing device for me. I could never get the feel right for the 3rd person games or mouse games that required speed and accuracy.
SoupaMayo@reddit
that's the shit. 3rd person games ? I need that controler. 1st person games ? I use a mouse.
emrednz07@reddit
I feel like it could work now with the gyro aiming. There are some maniacs playing CS or TF2 absurdly well with gyro controls.
Shootemout@reddit
it was also pretty decent for racing games and using that bigass right puck as a miniature steering wheel
nitonitonii@reddit
I beated every souls with them, not braggin, just saying they are decent, I personally like them and got 2 more
Maar7en@reddit
The old one was a unique controller with quirks. I have both it and the fancy xbox controller and depending on which game I am playing I use one or the other. I much prefer the trackpad over a stick for camera controls for some reason and the two stage triggers are neat. The trackpad is also confortable to use, thumb just kinda goes there, which is great for doing pc things when not at a desk.
The new one desperately wants to be both a conventional controller and a steam controller and what you get is neither. The trackpads can no longer be used for more than a few minutes without destroying your thumb and the two analog sticks are so close together your thumbs touch if you move them both towards the center. It was also super telling that one of the selling points was that you could change the way it behaves on a per game basis. A feature that steam has had for a decade for all common controllers.
Just buy an xbox or playstation controller

Maybe I’m regarded but I don’t understand the hate for this controller. It’s a controller if you need one buy it and you’ll use it. If you don’t need it don’t buy it.
Also people are complaining about the price. For $100 you’re hitting the middle ground between your standard ps5 and Xbox controller retailing $60-$85 and the $130-$150 elite controllers.
My brother only buys elite controllers because of the back paddles that are lacking on the base Xbox and ps5 versions. So if that’s the only reason you need the more expensive controllers than the steam controller seems like a great option.
SoupaMayo@reddit
we're both regarded then
Saliiim@reddit
I'm looking forward to it, having a trackpad on the controller might finally make connecting my pc to the TV less of a pain in the arse.
down_vote_magnet@reddit
Yeah I used to have the same problem before I finally got my prosthetic leg.
TheDwiin@reddit
I'm in the queue waiting for my number to be called.
PeggingIsPoggers@reddit
I like the Steam Controller, I'm just waiting for either my Snowrunner, ATS, or Dirt Rally 2.0 mood to come along to get some mileage out of it.
Bostolm@reddit
Considering i now have zero input lag on a docked steam deck, this things a godsend
AWildAthena@reddit
This thing gave me a controller that does not disconnect because of bluetooth shenanigans or front ports struggling (my pc is just old). And it feels nice in the hands too
splashtext@reddit
anon opens his steam library, scrolls his 1k+ library, sighs when none of them sound fun, goes on 4chan, and then blames it on gaming accessory
ZaidCharades@reddit
I feel bad fomo buys like OP took away a steam controller from someone who would actually use it. Literally the best controller I've ever used and I use it every day my only worries are about durability with how much I use it
thr33beggars@reddit
As my mother once said, “There is only one thing that is thick and black that you can hold in your hands that won’t disappoint you, and it’s not a video game controller.”
It was an odd thing to tell a fourth grader but looking at the guys she brought home behind my dad’s back, it was a creed she lived by.

If your controller is gathering dust it's not really a controller issue
Shootemout@reddit
fr my last one was a ps4 controller i needed to replace cuz the buttons were beginning to stick like crazy. love this controller. i dont use the trackpads or gyro shit but i could say the same thing about the ps4 controller itself. only complaint i have is i wish there was more feedback on triggers, like a click when they're full pulled or something but that's it
sillius-dickus@reddit
I haven't opened mine yet because I am waiting for my regular steam controller to die. 6 years now it has worked compared to my first one that lasted 3 years.
En-TitY_@reddit
Used this thing everyday since I bought it; exactly what I wanted. Then again, I thought it through before I purchased it, not just bought it on a whim and then moan because I don't have critical thinking abilities to take enough responsibility for my poor choices.
wjcvn@reddit
Op realized their 14 other controllers worked just fine with Steam
BionisGuy@reddit
I got this controller, it's an amazing controller. I do own a deck as well and i LOVE how the controller feel on it with the trackpads and everything. And this controller is exactly like that, the steamdeck without the entire deck part.
SonicTh66@reddit
So it’s only steam?
Indianlookalike@reddit
People who bought it are idiots. A controller is a device you buy out of necessity not for luxury. You didn't use it because you already had a controller you were content with.
RaoulLaila@reddit
yup. I have a switch 2 pro controller. It is the best controller I have and my stupid ass bought some cool looking third party controllers for the switch that I never use. Why would I use the objectively shitty controller just because it looks cool? Though in this case I can imagine the steam controller being a significant upgrade. But if you are a keyboard and mouse player, or use your xbox controller actively, why buy it?
comasxx@reddit
"you are"
