Russian attack kills at least 18 in Ukraine, some of them children buried under rubble

You know it’s bad when even the tankies who supported Russian imperialism against evil NATO have gone quiet.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
No "tankies" are supporting Russian imperialism.
You're also giving up the bag here by calling Ukraine "They totally aren't being used against Russia" part of NATO.
We have always been against Russian imperialism, but we also just don't deny that Ukraine is fucking evil, has been under the control of fascists for over a decade, and has been allowing fascists to murder people. Ukraine is corrupt as fuck and allowing Nazis to thrive, and Western media was constantly reporting on that until Russia invaded. Funny how that works.
Russia is imperialist and evil, but their actions do much more 'good' than NATO, because they support countries who are oppressed by NATO, and there are a lot more of them than countries getting aid from NATO against Russian nonsense.
So while Russia continues their invasion that has resulted in so much death and destruction, and Ukraine continues to be fascist simps for NATO and kidnap their people off the street to go die in the meat grinder, I've opted to just not bother speaking on the matter, because both sides are just straight up awful.
The same cannot be said for Palestine and Israel, or Iran and the US/Israel.
Stormeve@reddit
What about Iran lets you give them a pass? The government is a hyper religious government that are just ass backwards in every single which way. If that’s your view of Ukraine then no communist with actual principles should be giving Iran a pass either
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
What does that even mean?
Their government isn't great, but it certainly isn't the worst in 'every way'. They have beliefs I don't agree with but they're steadfast on those beliefs and they don't allow themselves to be corrupt, and they're at least honest, unlike our governments that lie about not serving the interests of Capital and nothing more.
Much of what our media tells us about Iran is bullshit, anyway.
Stormeve@reddit
About your recent edit, I don’t disagree. There is a prominent historical quote by a Filipino politician during our struggle for independence which basically says the same thing. But that’s kind of besides the point. They are religious reactionaries, and if Ukraine doesn’t get a pass then Iran shouldn’t get one either
Stormeve@reddit
You remarked that you’ve opted to not speak on the Ukrainian conflict because both sides are awful, but then in the next statement said that the same cannot be said for Iran and the US/Israel.
I doubt you were trying to say that US/Israel isn’t awful, so the implication here is you saying Iran isn’t awful. CMIIW as English is not my first language.
Saying the Iranian government is not corrupt or dishonest is certainly a take. The prevailing order of reactionaries has always been about exploiting the common man, woman, and child, so I don’t think I agree there.

They have yet to receive their talking points
TheTumbleweed60@reddit
Something something collateral damage
Something something Western imperialism
Something something both sides bad
Something something Donbas genocide
sakezaf123@reddit
Yeah, it's always 12-24 hours after something real heinous happens, when they come out of the woodwork. Trumpists follow the same cadence, when dear leader says or does something truly vile.
YourFuture2000@reddit
A supporter of Russia Imperialism wouldn't be quite but justifying.
Prosthemadera@reddit
But I was wondering how these attacks have anything to do with repelling NATO. Who will come up with justifications now?
esjb11@reddit
Yeah. Russia really escalated it since that school in Luhansk. Those casultiy numbers are significantly higher than they used to be.
_Kiith_Naabal_@reddit
Why you said that? I was just at work.
TrizzyG@reddit
The Moscow regime is lashing out yet again, with the goal of terrorizing civilians in Ukraine. It's unfortunate but from what family back there have said there is basically no reconciliation to be had with Russians (as a people) for the foreseeable future.
Not only is their intelligence largely pretty awful so that they target areas that arent even related to military matters (Ukraine is also not great at this), but the practical results are that after 4.5 years manufacturing is so decentralized and a good chunk just happens in Europe that these strikes do nothing except damage critical civilian infrastructure.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
FIRMS data from NASA actually shows that everything hit was non-residential, debris fell near residential areas and Ukrainian interceptors failed to intercept incoming missiles and detonated into residential buildings.
Ukrainian mayors/officals made the same statements, you comment isn't based in reality.
Prosthemadera@reddit
Even if it is "just" debris it changes nothing. It's at best a technical detail that does not change the barbarous cruelty of Russia.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
So if Russia not meaning to hit civilians is barbaric, what does that make Ukraine intentionally hitting a dorm last week?
Prosthemadera@reddit
I didn't say that. I said Russia is barbaric.
How convenient. Russia kills at least 18 people and it's just a little oopsie while Ukraine defending itself gets twisted into an intentional attack on innocent dorms.
Ukraine is defending itself from an aggressor. Don't want dorms to get hit? Then don't attack, rape, and murder innocent people. It's very simple.
Instead of complaining about Ukraine you should spend your time talking about how Russia should stop and give Ukraine its land back. But you won't because you support the Russian invasion.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Ukraine admitted to intentionally targeting the dorm, claiming it was a drone headquarters yet only students were pulled from the rubble.
In fact it was Ukrainian controlled territory before it was liberated by Russia, so they were Ukrainians killed by Ukraine.
eelsandpeels@reddit
FIRMS data isn't reliable enough to say that no residential was hit. FIRMS does not pick up everything.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Sure but logically, Russia isnt using 10m+ missiles to hit residential buildings.. if they wanted to glide bomb every city to rubble they could.
Putin is much more measured than his western counterparts
sakezaf123@reddit
That's a hilarious thing to say. The reason Putin isn't striking like this everyday, is that their production can't keep up. It's clear, because after ceasefires they always conduct larger bombing campaigns, involving roughly the number of bombs/drones/missiles that they would have fired without the ceasefire.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Russia out produced all of NATO before the invasion, let alone now after increasing production. Dont be silly.
Putin was waiting for Ukraine to get desperate and start attacking civilians, history will not remember NATO kindly for helping Ukraine with their terroristic acts
sakezaf123@reddit
You're being silly here if you actually believe what you're saying. In certain categories it's true, but definitely not when it comes to missiles or say sahed drones, which they were buying from Iran until Trump attacked them. They've ramped up domestic production both for drones and everything else, but a lot of high tech equipment relied on western parts, so they had to set up entire supply chains.
Look, just as an academic question, when was the last time you've seen footage of russian tanks in Ukraine? But you can also just look at the freeze in deliveries of russian military export equipment, or how they've bought back a decent amount of what was delivered. Or you can just look at how incredibly indebted Russia became to China.
It's clear that you're all the way down in propaganda, so I'm not continuing this conversation, but just consider the things I've mentioned.
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Russia is producing 44k drones from a single factory since 2022, the only drones from Iran that came were the first prototypes they used to design Gerans.
Yesterday/today on /r/UkraineRussiaReport
I suggest you follow that sub for unbiased reporting.
When was the last time you saw Ukraine use western vehicles? Don't worry Ill wait for a video from this year that doesnt have snow
eelsandpeels@reddit
Most of Ukraine including Kyiv is outside of glide bomb range.
If Russia could have turned every Ukrainian city to ruble they would have by now.
TrizzyG@reddit
Not based in reality is claiming everything hit was non residential on an article that states at least 18 civilians got murdered for existing.
Just because Russia also targets military enterprises (mostly defunct and decentralized) doesnt wash away their responsibility for firing missiles that deviate off course or are preprogrammed to the wrong coordinates.
Good try tho champ
PurpleMclaren@reddit
Theres multiple videos out of patriots slamming into high rises, you can hate russia but at least be factual.
Prosthemadera@reddit
That doesn't show that no Russian attacks hit buildings. We just haven't seen videos of it.
