Is a VA monitor generally better at lower brightness than IPS?

I bought a new fast IPS MSI monitor and when I make it dimmer I can't see things and compared to my old VA monitor I have to have it on a much higher brightness to see well. It just loses the colors and clarity when I make the brightness lower
Would a new VA (rapid VA but idk if that matters) be better at a low brightness than the fast IPS and resemble more of my old VA MSI monitor? The old one is g27c2.

It's hard to say objectively. But I personally prefer VA panels and I always run at low brightness. So... perhaps there's something to this?

Yeah this is pretty normal honestly. VA panels usually keep blacks/contrast looking better at lower brightness, so they feel “clearer” in darker rooms even when dim.
IPS can start looking kinda washed once brightness drops too much, especially if you were already used to VA contrast before. Rapid VA would probably feel closer to your old monitor yeah
