got a boat in the marina on the next dock over looks just like yours. Not sure I could ever own a boat with that much wood though...
probablyaythrowaway@reddit
I like boat. Is good boat
TheBigLanowski@reddit
What a beauty! I'm so jealous. Do you live on her? I'm saving up for a boat to make it my home and sail the world. Only need to figure out a way to keep money flowing in to stay afloat and fed.
ccgarnaal@reddit (OP)
No, don't live on her permanently. Only when traveling a few weeks at a time.
Many people have this dream. I think if you would want to make it work on smallish boat. Then try to buy a garage first. A place the out all you non sailing stuff and maybe leave your car if you take off for a few months.
Having everything on your boat is very difficult. I take a minimum of tools, clothes etc when I travel. Since space on a 28ft is very hard to find.
Koeke2560@reddit
The struggle is real.
Between deciding which tools you need on location and which in your shop and then also moving spars of 3m+ from and to your boats location.
To think I used to do it by bike and public transport for the first 4 years 🤯

Nice - tell us about her? Year, make, how she sails, where you sail?

1963 van der Stadt trintella 1 with original engine. I bought her for peanuts when I was a overconfident 18 year old student and rebuild her completely Some older photos:

What's her name?
ccgarnaal@reddit (OP)
That's a story on it's own. She is and has always been called Jadyca. It is even in the table in beautifull wood inlay. The name is a combination of the names of the grandchildren of the first owner.
And in 2018 I went back to France where she travelled the first 30-40 years of her existence. To go sailing with these now 70+ year old grandchildren. Emotional day all around. And I got some great pictures and information from the 1960s from them.
Inside_Discipline180@reddit
That is awesome, how did you get in contact with them? Who found who? (Let me try to play guessing the names : Jacques, Dylan and Camille)
ccgarnaal@reddit (OP)
5 names actually. But I will leave them their privacy. I had tried finding the history before but without success. (I had the 1960's racing rating papers with info on them).
But one of them did a cruise and learned what AIS is. And found me via marine traffic.

Bravo to you for preserving her legacy, rekindling the memories of those she touched, and in assuring her future.
Koeke2560@reddit
Aye man, I’ve spotted you here before as a fellow Belgian, lovely boat, can’t wait to spot you on a sail someday!
WatermelonSmashing@reddit
Wow that's amazing! My dad had an old 50s sail boat, and I've seen how much work it is first hand.
Candygramformrmongo@reddit
Superb. Thanks for sharing!
emmobear@reddit
ORIGINAL WOODEN MAST?!?! EESH. Do you have a lifetime supply of Spar Varnish? Amazing.
ccgarnaal@reddit (OP)
Not original, I made it in 2010 when I build the boat. The old one is in pieces in the North sea. But the old did last 50 years.
CommercialFish3081@reddit
A beauty too
Automatic_Put_2960@reddit
Very pretty- typical of these times.
Just-Me-Being-Nosy@reddit

Could be a Cheoy Lee
1959Mason@reddit
Maybe an H-28?
blithetorrent@reddit
it does have a very H-28 looking transom and rudder, from the side
DefectorChris@reddit
What I see here is a beaut.
lentil_soup_24_7@reddit
Because it's perfect. What a beautiful yacht
Same_Detective_7433@reddit
And it looks like the same people who painted my waterline painted yours 😁
ccgarnaal@reddit (OP)
Waterline is perfectly level. But the boat is heeling over to SB due to the weight of me in the hammock on the boom overhanging the water.
bryangcrane@reddit
Obviously. :-)
Great looking vessel! Congrats and kudos to you!
theprotestingmoose@reddit
The boom looks quite large for a masthead. I will have to try the hammock on my boat.
SamDemon8@reddit
She’s a gorgeous ship to be fair
Jimmaplesong@reddit
Love the hammock on the boom. I would sleep there every night.
Bierdaddy@reddit
Nice boat. A lot of time and care needed for all that wood.
Gahouf@reddit
Now that is a pretty boat
justforkinks0131@reddit
