Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
NYAJohnny@reddit
Yes but play the first game first!
SpeedWag00n@reddit
I dont agree with that, the first one has so many issues compared to the second that many people will just drop it after a few hours and forget about KCD, watching a youtube video about the story is enough to enjoy the masterpiece KCD2 is

I loved RDR2 - I love detailed open-world games. You might enjoy the Assassin's Creeds if you haven't already played them. The later ones (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, Mirage and Shadows) apparently deviated from the spirit of the earlier ones (which I haven't played), but as standalone open-world RPGs they are great. You can still enjoy them without knowing all the backstory and lore from the earlier games.
Witcher III is similar, as someone else recommended, as is Ghost of Tsushima/Ghost of Yotei.
I just played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at the recommendation of someone. I probably wouldn't have picked it myself, but it ended up being one of the best games I've played. A beautiful game and soundtrack, great story and some good gameplay mechanics.

I loved Black Flag. Bought Odyssey but haven't started it yet...

How long have you been out of gaming and what platforms are available to you?

I have a reasonable pc but not played much since gta 5 really
ShabbatShalom666@reddit
Far Cry 5
eggs_and_ham_i_am@reddit
Start at 3, it's the best of them all.
COYSBannedagain@reddit
3 is the most popular but something about 5 is just so fun, I mean you can literally have a cheeseburger eating grizzly bear and a mountain lion for a pet.
Jennyjuke@reddit
Fallout 76 it's update day! New season starting 😁
WeDoALittleHRT@reddit
Disco Elysium. It's quite different to the action of red dead and cyberpunk, but it has incredible storytelling. it's a beautiful game and my all time favourite.
SherbetHot5168@reddit
Dying light 2

Elden ring. All others are irrelevant once you've played that.....until GTA6 I hope.
Ok-Rain6295@reddit
Outer Wilds- including the DLC. It might make you cry though.

If you want something a bit different to those may I suggest Project Zomboid
Just try not to toss the computer out the window with the learning curve

Id recommend subscribing to something like Xbox Game Pass, there are a ton of games on there for honestly not that much a month.

Pretty much anything from Remedy on that note.
Control, Quantum Break, Alan Wake 1&2, Max Payne 1&2 which they're currently doing remakes of!

Ghost of Yoti
VolcanicBear@reddit
I would say Tsushima over Yotei. Yotei hasn't grabbed me at all in the same way Tsushima did.
UnderstandingSmall66@reddit
I don’t disagree at all. I just didn’t want to recommend an old game. But I agree, GoTis possibly the best game I’ve ever played.
UltimaJay5@reddit
They're literally playing "old" games (by your odd standard) with 2077 and RDR2.
UnderstandingSmall66@reddit
lol on Reddit people always have to be so antagonistic. Chill mate.

Elden Ring

I absolutely loved Star Wars Outlaws.
I quite liked the Indiana Jones and the magic circle. It was fun enough to enjoy to the end.

musicallymotivated93@reddit
Final Fantasy VII. Ideally the PS1 version, but any will do. Just don't use the boosters in the modern ports.
ARobertNotABob@reddit
If you liked the open world of RDR2, try NoMansSky.
Not an auspicious release, but it's had so many updates recently and is rising in popularity.
Dr-Moth@reddit
I went from Cyberpunk to Baulders Gate 3 and was amazed by the amount of freedom I had to make plot choices compared to Cyberpunk.
Apsalar28@reddit
Came here to say Baulders Gate 3. It can take a while to wrap your head around as there is so much freedom but it's well worth the effort
PerLin107@reddit
Oblivion Remastered.
fulthrottlejazzhands@reddit
I'd say if you played the original there's no need to play with he Remastered. Yeah, it's pretty (looks glorious in 4k on my 5090), and bugs are fixed, and it let's you revisit Tamriel yadda, Yadda. But it's still the same game as a its core. There are more new, more monumental recent experiences out there worth your time e.g.
Baldur's Gate 3 Eldeb Ring Kingdom Come 1 & 2 Expedition 33 ...and others mentiones in this thread.
PerLin107@reddit
I was assuming OP did not play the original but you are quite correct if they did.
Less_Local_1727@reddit
Bioshock then Bioshock 2 then all the Fallout games (bar the ‘76 waste of energy).
redspike77@reddit
As a long time Warframe player I'm tempted to advise you avoid it, especially if you have a job or family. Or a life of any sort come to think of it...
L-0-T-H-0-S@reddit
Atom Fall, Far Cry 5, - currently on a replaythough of Atomic Heart, that's oodles of fun right there not even including the extra DLC.
Far Cry 6, I really enjoyed, no idea why people moan about that game it's a seriously fun romp.
Atom Fall I can highly recommend, largely because I'm old enough to get all the 50's and 60's british sci-fi references plus - if you get the DLC, specifically The Red Strain - all weapons and gizmo upgrades you can use in the main game, plus The Red Strain literally feels like a Jon Pertwee era episode of Doctor Who, its got that itchy/scratch Ron Grainer inspired music, plus the story's funny in a typically ghastly sort of way.
Same deal works with weapons in The Wicked Isle DLC. They all transfer and are usable in the main game, DLC integrates as more story in the main narrative.
If you like open world - Days Gone - definitely worth the price of admission, especially second hand. fighting a Horde single handed certainly gets the blood pumping and the story and vice active are excellent - the lead character loosely based on a younger Tommy lee Jones, they chap playing him does a really good job.
Should keep you busy for a bit.

After having played both those games in the last year, I then moved on to Expedition 33, then Kingdom Come Deliverance & now I'm currently playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
I'd recommend them all.
