striker for me. Hammer a lot of guns don't like the cold for some reason. pistols are less of a problem because they are usually up against your body. I haven't tried hammer fired rifles or shotguns in the cold but I imagine they have similar problems and are more likely to get tossed in an heated trunk or leaned up against something while you are waiting outside.
-but then again pumps get sluggish in the cold and I use those so
Unfortunately, it's that DA first pull I'm looking for. I vastly prefer it over a manual safety, and I've never been a trigger dingus lover.
The P365 trigger is perfectly adequate for what it is. I don't really notice it. And, with the safety, it's essentially the same setup. If I were buying now, I very well might go with the FN, but it's not different enough to take a bath selling the 365 and then buy something new. Plus holsters are easy with the 365.
TBH, it's the DA/SA I'm after more than the hammer itself. I'd be okay with a DA/SA striker fired micro - if Walther ever decided to make a micro P99 (Pico99?)
I do also like being able to feel the hammer when I holster, but plenty of striker fired guns have a firing pin extension you can feel.
What I really want is a 9mm Beretta the size of the 80x. For the days when my centurian is too much.
I agree with everything you said. I got the fn first so I have no reason to get a 365, but I harbor no bad feelings towards it. I would absolutely love a proper da/sa subcompact. Personally I wish there was a cz p07 that was smaller and slimmer instead of being as wide as a 2x4. Or perhaps some species of beretta. The cz rami is probably the closest we're gonna get I imagine, but unfortunately its still kind of chunky and heavy from what I've heard, not to mention it being discontinued and not well supported these days.
I just got a suggestion for the P250 SC which is only 0.1" wider than the P365. But, it's also discontinued.
I've only ever heard good things about the rami, but I live in the sticks so pretty much anything that isn't a glock or S&W needs to be ordered before handling it.
I like the P07 for what it is (hammer fired glock 19, lol) but, it's a bit thick to take over from a 1" micro - even if they cut it down to a G26 size.
I had a p250 for a while and kinda hated it ngl. I don't really like dao guns. The trigger on it was smooth enough but way too heavy. It felt like lifting a full grocery bag with one finger and I struggled to get through more than a couple mags before my form would start to degrade from strain. I swear it was a 20lb trigger and it made my zastava m83 look well polished lol.
Imo if they figured out how to make a p07 20% skinnier and chopped half to 3/4" off the slide and grip it would sell fantastic these days with how the market seems to have swung back towards subcompacts
Hammer, partly nostalgia, partly because I enjoy the mechanical feedback. I like to see and feel the what's going on with the gun leading up to, during, and prior shooting, and enjoy physically controlling the cocking / de-cocking.
My 3 favorites in order are my:
• Browning Hi-Power T-Series 9mm
• Walther PPK .32
• Sig P938 High Polish 9mm
That's not to say I don't like or use striker fired pistols, hell my daily carry rotation has a G26 in heavy rotation, but my T-Series will always be my winter carry, and my PPK & P938 my formal/deep concealment options before any striker fired pistols.
I don’t necessarily think hammer-fired guns are better. I just enjoy the mechanical nature of them more. There’s something satisfying about seeing and feeling the action work rather than having everything happen inside the slide.

Y’all can have that polymer striker crap. Metal and hammers for me.

There are so many good DA/SA polymer guns though

striker fired, much more reliable. parts are more accessible. also more cost efficient. both are wonderful tho.

Hammer is always my preference. DA/SA.

Hammer. 1. SIG P210 (Swiss). 2. CZ-75. 3. Browning High Power.

Hammer fired Da/sa with a decocker. Favorites are the CZ 75 pcr, IWI Jericho, and my edc the Bersa tpr9c.

I have a p365 that’s my only striker fired pistol. And they ever make a similar size/capacity DA/SA I’ll ditch the 365.

The fn reflex is hammer fired but unfortunately only sa and no da. Trigger is pretty nice compared to a lot of duty striker guns I've used

get a p250 sc
DayManFOTNightMan@reddit
I didn't realise the SC was so much narrower than the F/C models.
That's a great suggestion.
For anyone else who was unaware, the width of the p365 is 1" the SC p250 is 1.1", and then the full/compact sizes are 1.4" wide.
Now I just gotta find a 250.
