ULPT instead of “hide ad” or “not interested in this ad”, etc-report the ad

I mean just to fuck with whoever paid for the ad and cause them troubles with the platform
thermal_shock@reddit
Why are you guys even allowing ads to show to you? Ublock origin and Firefox, works on mobile also.
WeightZombie@reddit
How do you use it on anything besides a computer though? Cell phone I could probably figure out. But how about an Xbox? Watching YouTube videos on Xbox kills me because I can't block the ads.
thermal_shock@reddit
Do need a computer in this case. Few options to mirror to tv.

A lot of people would rather waste hours watching ads instead of investing like 15 minutes into blocking them.
Complacency, fear of it being illegal (it isn't), and/or a weird moral obligation to deliver payment by watching the ads, there a multiple factors at work.
SuperDan_x@reddit
I show people ad blockers all the time many people still use the dumb apps. I think a lot of folks are just conditioned to accept the ads. I’ve been asking “why do you choose to sit through these when you can turn them off?”
Niniva73@reddit
Brave Browser also autoblocks almost anything vaguely resembling an ad.
AngstyUchiha@reddit
I keep getting ai generated ads, and you can report those for false advertising (because that's what it is), and since it's a legitimate report and not just to cause the ad runners trouble, it's a lot more likely to cause a problem for them!
FeelTall@reddit
I've been getting some saying "if you get into an car accident, don't call the police or a lawyer, download this app and you'll be paid out $20k or more" LOL
yordle_enjoyer@reddit
I reported several ads on instagram with legitimate complaints, like the ad promoting obvious scams, and every report i made got dismissed. The platforms dont give a shit
mystiqophi@reddit
oh yeah, its fact. There was a report on cybernews that talked about how facebook and google promoted scams on their platforms. Sad, but true 😔
Alissinarr@reddit
Watched any YouTube lately? They have ads for dick pills.
CarismaMike@reddit
Firefox + Ublock origin for browser access or revanced for app access = no more ads
Able_Swordfish_3788@reddit
The only times I had ads was when YouTube only put 1 ad per video, and only when it ended (or started I forgot). Since then I used adblocks, these ads are now waaay too fucking agressive
jaxxon@reddit
Rave browser
Alissinarr@reddit
Has revanced added a dark mode yet? I honestly couldn't stand how bright it was last time I used it.
CarismaMike@reddit
Yes, they have dark mode and I totally agree with you: light mode is unusable
GuestStarr@reddit
In my opinion they are shooting themselves in the leg by not reacting to complaints. These days when (if) I see ads on any platform I already presume they are scams. So if most of us come to the same conclusion the more legit ads will disappear because nobody clicks them any more.. then it's just the scams left.
JasonStatesUs@reddit
I believe this. I don’t care if it doesn’t go against your “community guidelines”, it’s clearly a scam and illegal
akulowaty@reddit
some famous polish entrepreneur sued meta for showing fake ads claiming he killed his wife (who was absolutely still alive) after facebook completely ignored these reports and still ran these ads.
Gooooomi@reddit
Instagram has dismissed my reports of blatant racism, many times even after a rereview
Roxy175@reddit
Everything I’ve ever reported ever on social media even when it’s very obviously valid comes back with “no violation found”. I don’t trust the report system at all.
madgoat@reddit
I report all ads as offensive and I still see the same ones appearing. I’m even blocked the accounts and they still show (Reddit is the only place I see promoted posts)
No-Understanding4968@reddit
Me too!
ConfirmationBiasTape@reddit
unlock origin extension will block reddit ads
madgoat@reddit
It works great on my desktop/laptop, but iOS with Brave is disappointing. Might go back to Safari, and andguard.
-_--__---___----____@reddit
completely unrelated but have you heard about https://revanced.app/ReVanced?
iSniffMyPooper@reddit
Morphe is so much better
-_--__---___----____@reddit
Kinda feels like dumbed down ReVanced
Responsible_Milk_421@reddit
Please elaborate
YaMongrelDog@reddit
I ended up switching to morphe cause I'm not smart enough to figure out the new ui. Both absolute gamechangers and I would not be using reddit if those apps didnt exist
jakemyork@reddit
I report them as low quality. Never get the same trash twice
Tao-of-Mars@reddit
I’m similar - maybe less aggressive
Meli_Melo_@reddit
I used to do this to every single ad shown to me, then realized they're not even worth my time reporting them.
Savagehenryuk@reddit
Most platforms just ignore spammy reports and it won’t “cause them trouble” unless the ad is actually breaking a policy.
Southern_Skill_7209@reddit
Or each time you see the same ad, click on the ad’s CTA button. Then once you’re on that offer/landing page don’t complete whatever objective they are trying for. (Just exit out)
They will technically be charged more for this and it will also fuck with their analytics thus making it more difficult to zone in on their “target audience” and decrease their conversion rate.
Pinkalicious100@reddit
This is a good one
Southern_Skill_7209@reddit
Thanks friend. Many wasted years of managing way too much money for lead gen advertising. Aka devils work.
iSniffMyPooper@reddit
You guys get ads?
Niniva73@reddit
Nah, most of us don't. The rest of us can either figure it out or deal with ads.
FirebirdWriter@reddit
Yeahhh this is just to make you feel better. You will still see the scams even
xwt-timster@reddit
... Or just use an adblocker, Revanced or Morphe
lordkoba@reddit
it’s probably safe but don’t risk this of your google account is important for you
any weird behavior could be misinterpreted by ai and your account could be nuked
