How can I get Zopiclone?

Posted by Excellent-Produce-49@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 11 comments

Do I need a prescription? If so, what should I ask my doctor. Thanks!

It's by prescription, but GPs are very hesitant to prescribe any sleeping tablets as they're not suitable for long-term use, don't give great sleep quality, and have severe side effects during the day.

>And, sadly, they're often the tool of choice for spiking people. Fuck, did I just give some unethical tips to a date-raper? In my defence, I thought I was giving some unethical tips to someone trying to get high...

I’ve had a couple of courses of them but the doctor wouldn’t give me more than seven at a time. I couldn’t sleep due to anxiety, but at least some of the anxiety was being caused by lack of sleep. They’re only available on prescription though I had no noticeable side effects. Although they knocked me out pretty quickly, I didn’t ever feel fully rested after a night on them. More like that kind of coma you fall into after a drinking session. They did help me sort out my sleeping patterns though.

It depends. Zopiclone is addictive, so GPs are hesitant to prescribe it, and if you have a history of depression, suicide ideation etc then you've got next to no chance of being prescribed sleeping pills.

My Dr gave me these as soon as i mentioned my terrible sleep patterns. I can lie awake til 3-4a.m no problem and be awake again by 7. To be honest i only tried a couple of tablets. Not keen if am honest. It kinda scared me when he said to take them in bed. Had visions of myself falling STRAIGHT to sleep, thanks to the joys of a very over active imagination. I prefer a herbal smoke instead....ssshhh!

Zopiclone can give a nasty metallic taste in your mouth as a side effect, it makes eating and drinking anything completely awful for me so just bear that in mind.

If you have any documented history of addiction, you're probably not getting any. Otherwise, if you're just looking to 'game' your appointment, these are the big points I'd hit: - problem with falling asleep, not with sleeping - once you get over, you're fine all night - you think the reason for that is due to anxiety - maybe about the amount of time you have until you wake up - this isn't every night - maybe twice a week - but you think it's fucking up your sleep patterns enough that even a fortnight of solid, good sleep would get you back on track - research sleep hygiene and mention a bunch of healthy things you've already 'tried'. Be passionate about how much they've helped you in the past.

Speak to your GP, they’re pretty hesitant to give it out these days unless you’ve been prescribed them before
