I'd stuff the Bush CD into my garbage disposal, but otherwise fairly solid.
rutgersftw@reddit
Not before the Candlebox.
be_more_gooder@reddit
Bush and Silverchair? No thanks.
Candlebox was good. 5+ minute songs (GOOD songs) all over that CD.
Searchlights@reddit
I liked that Candlebox album a lot too. Lucy too.
rutgersftw@reddit
I’ve got a soft spot for Silverchair. I never gave Candlebox a try after listening to an MTV VJ gas them up as “Madonna’s favorite grunge band” before what I felt at the time was an underwhelming song. I could be wrong.
be_more_gooder@reddit
I was the only one in our friend group who liked Blind Melon and I caught so much shit because that idiot Riki Rachtman called them heavy metal.
username__0000@reddit
Change is so damn good and it’s crazy that was not a bigger hit.
Ill_Tour_7294@reddit
One of my favorite albums from that era
palmburntblue@reddit
I would never stuff any Albini record into my garbage disposal, but that’s just a personal preference.
Rip king
NoContextCarl@reddit
I'll agree, Albini was great. He was a producer first, but also a human being and a businessman. I can't necessarily fault him, but that album was more or less a business transaction based on "Yeah, we heard In Utero and it was great. Here's some money".
I'd happily listen to his work with Jesus Lizard, Pixies, Breeders, PJ Harvey or virtually anyone else first...
SemataryPolka@reddit
Albini liked kiddie p*rn
Look it up if you don't believe me
Grandeftw@reddit
If it was sixteen stone we'd be in business
burnmp3s@reddit
Bush is overhated. I think the general dislike of Gavin Rossdale overshadows how good some of the songs are on those first few albums.
LackingUtility@reddit
STP's Core still holds up as a great album.
Searchlights@reddit
I feel that way about Purple for that matter
Solid-Hedgehog9623@reddit
every STP album up through no. 4 still holds up. Each one a completely different experience.
Bookofdrewsus@reddit
sTP’s Jane’s Addiction album.
JohnnyCanuck133@reddit
Holy shit... Never really clicked before but apparently I was into grunge.
Long_Advertising_737@reddit
Staples to any 90s teen cd folder
redcurrantevents@reddit
I had those as cassettes…
Adrasteia-One@reddit
I would have been good friends with that person's dad. Core and Versus were the two albums there that I listened to most that first year I got into alternative.
I'll be one of those that say the Candlebox album is seriously underappreciated. Everything on it is top notch. They really crushed it at Woodstock '94.
junto80@reddit
🎵Now maybe (sick as guitar riff) I didn’t mean to treat you oh so bad🎵
Still slaps
Agreeable-Chart-5561@reddit
Silverchair always gets overlooked, cool to see that in this collection
be_more_gooder@reddit
Two of those things are not like the others in my CD collection. And I did own Candlebox.
Soulforge411@reddit
Bush and silverchair
Asleep-Range1456@reddit
Silverchair > Bush + Candlebox
Esternaefil@reddit
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.
kabbage_with_hair@reddit
I'm seeing way too many comments hating on silverchair.
They were kids when their first two albums came out, which I think is pretty amazing. I'm also biased because I may have been a little obsessed back in the day. 🐸
aweedl@reddit
First album is still a lot of fun. I never bothered following them beyond that. I think the singles off the follow-up were just kind of… ‘meh’ for me.
Still listen to my Frogstomp tape, though.
aweedl@reddit
I still have most of these on tape. All but the Bush and Silverchair (although I still have ‘Frogstomp’ and ‘Sixteen Stone’).
Curious-Basket-7934@reddit
No Hole? No Veruca salt
Quackoverride@reddit
Or Liz goddamn Phair.
bransanon@reddit
Freak Show is a way underrated record
Whitworth_73@reddit
You need Alice in Chains to round out the collection. Maybe Filter too.
GenghisConnieChung@reddit
The red CD with no case is Dirt.
Whitworth_73@reddit
so that's where the rooster is hiding, thanks!
mistegirl@reddit
Oh man... Ten is like an all time top 5 album overall
Emannuelle-in-space@reddit
Freak Show was the perfect soundtrack for my 7th grade “I hate the popular kids” phase. I used to daydream about getting up in front of the whole class to scream the lyrics of No Association at them. Weird phase that thankfully didn’t last long.
metmerc@reddit
Great CDs to be sure, but umm, is that all? Because that's a pretty small collection, even if it's just the Grunge selection.
LooksLikeAWookie@reddit
Got them all for 1 cent each!
mrs_hippiequeen@reddit
i traded in maybe 5 cd's to get that candlebox and it reeked of ciggies
Forsetie@reddit
Had almost all of those. Pearl Jam - Ten was my very first CD
RedSix2447@reddit
You found my collection?! lol
bargman@reddit
All bangers ... then I saw the bottom left ...
Puzzleheaded-Fold799@reddit
I still own all these except for Bush and that Silverchair album. I will admit to once owning Frogstomp, but I tired of it quickly and made a frisbee of it.
ResurgentClusterfuck@reddit
Candlebox omg
I wore out at least 2 of that CD
HeywoodJaBlessMe@reddit
Soundgarden > Alice In Chains > Stone Temple Pilots > Nirvana > Pearl Jam > Silverchair > Candlebox > Bush
Ordinary_Scar_8076@reddit
Alice in chains and Nirvana are probably my favorite to come from the 90s.
RickZebra@reddit
Seeing those bare cds shinny side down is making me cring. Flip them bitches over dude or put a paper towl down first!
Funkdamentalist@reddit
Hopefully their Dad teaches them not to lay them face down on the table 😬
Remarkable_Major7710@reddit
Bad Motorfinger! Ten and Versus rounds out the top three.
But that Soundgarden album (and Dino Jr) set me on the path
chawrawbeef@reddit
Badmotorfinger, Dirt, Ten are the top three there for sure. Don’t get me wrong, I wore out my Nevermind cd back in the day as well, both those three along with Temple of the Dog and maybe Siamese Dream were my most listened to in my formative music years
ShineNShrooms@reddit
Yeah thats some damn good music right there.. my mid and late teens probably
MutantLeader@reddit
I had almost all of these
suspicious_hyperlink@reddit
I wonder if the person on the silver chair cover is the “fat boy” who gone away too
AmputeeHandModel@reddit
Fuck yeah, every one of those is amazing.
