A question for the ladies

Do you still shave your legs? I’m finding the younger generation, those about 10 years younger who are solidly millennials, do not. It’s like shaving your legs or pits is a little old fashioned.
Plane_Chance863@reddit
I epilate when I think of it. Though with my autoimmune disease I tend to wear UV clothing so no one can see my leg hair anyway.
Common_Tiger1526@reddit
My leg hair is so thin now I don't see the point. Honestly it's one of the top 5 parts of aging.
monina79@reddit
I want that to hurry up and happen for me. And take the chin hairs with it!
Sufficient_Turn_9209@reddit
For me it seems like some of the leg hairs have gotten confused and migrated to the chin. I legit found like a 3 inch hair on my neck under my chin awhile back. I asked my husband wtf he didn't tell me, and he said he never noticed. 😆
Far-Veterinarian6465@reddit
I have been plucking those suckers for 20 yrs. They are just multiplying 😖
Sufficient_Turn_9209@reddit
You know what? I'm not ashamed to admit I'm just shaving my whole face now, chin hairs and all. It started with dermablading and I loved having all the downy hair gone. Then one day I was just like wtf am I doing with this tiny little thing? and grabbed the Gillette fusion I use on my legs. Shave with the direction of the hair growth so you don't mess up the follicles (supposedly?) and you get baby soft glowy skin! When you wear makeup it looks like skin!
Shoddy-Plate6742@reddit
I have been shaving my whole face for years now and I get compliments left and right about my skin. I used to be embarrassed by it - nahhhhh it’s my beauty hack now
VeniVidiVici_19@reddit
Same - almost no noticeable leg hair anymore, but suddenly facial hair?! Of course unlike your husband, mine decided to point it out on a long flight when I could do nothing about it. Then went on to tell both his mother and my mother than he could see their chin hairs (and I’m pretty sure he hurt my moms feelings 🙄)
K2sX@reddit
My experience thus far...the chin hairs are sticking around. -.-
melanyebaggins@reddit
I got mine in the exact same spot my mom did. Thanks mom! 😄
Puzzleheaded-Ruin302@reddit
I relate to this thread. I once noticed my Grandma had a ton of chin hairs... But she gave me great skin and a cute hourglass figure so... I guess I'll just keep the tweezers handy!
Far-Veterinarian6465@reddit
The best place to pluck hairs is the car. Keep a pair in your cupholder. Some of those red lights are 3 minutes long. I don’t care who sees me.
Caftancatfan@reddit
I thought about that, but I’m so worried I’m going to get rear ended at a stop light and impale my throat!
its_cocktail_oclock@reddit
I immediately pictured Final Destination.
Chemical_Butterfly40@reddit
I buy eyebrow razors and whisk them over my face every couple of days. Also a nice exfoliation
its_cocktail_oclock@reddit
I loathe looking into my visor mirror on a sunny day. Where the hell did all this hair come from?! And didn’t I just pluck all this 2 days ago????
Fine-Platypus-423@reddit
Yes. Car lighting is top tier. Frighteningly illuminating.
Consistent-Ease6070@reddit
Nah, I use my phone’s flashlight and a magnifying mirror. You can move the light around to make sure you don’t miss anything. And no issues of being distracted in the car.
brainvheart143@reddit
I was about to comment this!!! It’s the best lighting for the job for sure.
Puzzleheaded-Ruin302@reddit
Zero shame here. 😂
mia_sara@reddit
I have a matching one with my Grandma.
_hi_plains_drifter_@reddit
Mine too. There are definitely more of them too 😭
brainvheart143@reddit
Yup. And they come out of nowhere too.
monina79@reddit
Aw man! 😤
xxxjessicann00xxx@reddit
I've got bad news about the chin hairs, friend.
moeru_gumi@reddit
Beards are cool again! 🧔🏽♂️
monina79@reddit
Ugh that sucks 😫 But I'm learning a lot here about removal techniques, so thanks y'all!
Burntjellytoast@reddit
My body decided to trade acne for chin hairs. There was a really thin one growing on the top part of my neck, it was over an inch long :/. It grows perfectly flat against my neck at least.
caramelpupcorn@reddit
I used to have noticeable leg and arm hair, but no more. I'm happy. I wish I still had eyebrows though.
mia_sara@reddit
Same although my brows never really recovered from over plucking in the 90s.
mia_sara@reddit
Absolutely, it’s one of those unexpected blessings of aging. My leg hair has never been thick (I’m pale, part Irish) but now it’s even thinner and just in a few patches on my legs. I do shave once a week or so around the ankle.
Maleficent-Box4114@reddit
I have six leg hairs and they’re blonde. Same with the armpits except they are darker so those go when I wear a tank top. Other than that I could not care less.
LopensCouisin@reddit
Lucky…. I’m older than you and it isn’t that thin. I think that might be genetics more than age.
pennylanish@reddit
Same but with armpit hair. It's just 2-3 strands just hanging around.
MappingChick@reddit
Blonde body hair + exfoliating mitts in the shower = easy street
No-Relation4226@reddit
Ooh, that’s an idea! My calves have had the hair rubbed off from pants and I was wondering what I could do for the rest of my legs that wasn’t laser (no good on the tattoo) or depilatory.
lastminutealways@reddit
This is me. I’m down to a few times a year, my hair has always been mostly blond and it’s almost disappeared altogether now. I do shave the pits a little more regularly but I am longer between on that too, especially the 10 months a year I’m wearing sleeves.
SunFlwrPwr@reddit
Religiously. I cant imagine not. I was also teased in middle school swim class so maybe thats why but, I still cant imagine not. I will let it go about 3-4 days but that's it. My daughter (who is 20) will go all winter without shaving her legs but generally keeps up with armpits. My other daughter (who is 18) never shaves. I just cant.....to me its just something that would have left me a social outcast. It doesn't help that she doesn't wear deodorant most of the time so she kind of does it to herself but.... I do find it interesting that the younger generations dont seem to care at all. I do wonder what significant others think of the generational shift...is it just accepted or is there any level of opinions about it? Hmm....
Shoddy-Plate6742@reddit
I haven’t done either for years and I will not be going back. Lots of men are into it
Dry-Nobody6798@reddit
Looks down at my - yet again - unshaven legs as I literally just lamented about MAYBR shaving my legs in I dont know how many months... 😭😂 I'm barely hairy so it's something I always have gotten away with.
After_Match_5165@reddit
I get legs and pits waxed once in the fall, once in the winter, and every 6-8 weeks in the summer. As others have commented, I hate the "kelp forest" feeling when I get in the water and find the blowing wind through my leg hairs jarring. But if I hadn't been conditioned to think shaven bodies were normal for women, who knows how I'd feel. I'm in Toronto and every woman I know has a slightly different perspective.
Chemical-Scarcity964@reddit
Yes, but only when those parts will be visible. Tank tops, skirts & shorts require shaving of legs/pits. Jeans & t-shirts, no need.
chattelcattle@reddit
I honestly don’t shave anything.
MetalAna666@reddit
I haven’t shaved in probably 10+ years. I Hate it!
SanPadrigo@reddit
One of the simple pleasures in life is putting leggings on with freshly shaven legs.
Snowpant@reddit (OP)
Or getting in fresh sheets with the fresh legs
Searchlights@reddit
That's what my wife says. She shaves her legs every time she showers because she likes how her smooth legs feel especially under bed sheets.
genx_meshugana@reddit
Omg one of the best sensations, clean sheets and softie legs!
Feisty-Comfort-3967@reddit
I consider my legs fresh after bathing only.
firesticks@reddit
This is really the main reason to shave your legs these days.
Alternative-Light514@reddit
If you don’t, do the hairs poke through? My wife is sleeping and she’d either think me waking her up to ask her that would be hilarious or super annoying. Either way, I’m pretty sure she’d prefer neither. Figured it’s safer to just ask here lol
moonstruck523@reddit
Mine never have, even with stubble.
Illustrious-Low3948@reddit
Only when it’s in the stubble stage
Feisty-Comfort-3967@reddit
Nope
Alternative-Light514@reddit
I figured that was that case, unless a perfect leg hair length-to-legging thickness ratio was achieved. I also can’t recall my wife’s legs ever looking or feeling like fuzzy caterpillars through her leggings when she shaves her legs less frequently in the winter.
username__0000@reddit
Climbing in a bed with clean sheets and no pj pants and moving your legs like a cricket. lol
2plankerr@reddit
Getting home from work, taking your work boots/shoes off, and rubbing your feet on the carpet. Chefs kiss!
lindentea@reddit
make fists with your toes!
HumanTelevision@reddit
Yessss cricket feet!
kymreadsreddit@reddit
I don't like armpit hair - it bugs me. But I am absolutely not shaving my legs. It's too much work for nothing.
annapurnah@reddit
I haven't since the early aughts.
Appropriate-Iron3204@reddit
Never liked razors so always used Nair. I mostly do it in the summer when I’m going to the pool, beach, or when I get pedicures. It’s a full on jungle in the fall and winter, lol. It’s nice to have smooth legs from time to time.
Motor_Run6170@reddit
I still shave my armpits because I think I smell worse, but I quit shaving my sparse, blonde leg hair about 4 years ago. It's fantastic
Zero_Imacat@reddit
I shave once in a while. I rarely show my legs anyway, but if I do decide to wear something that shows them, then I'll shave.
frenchrangoon@reddit
My legs itch so badly that I will scratch to the point of bleeding if I don't shave them, so yes, I do.
vermilion-chartreuse@reddit
Idk why I was suggested this post but just hopping in to say all my millennial friends (I'm '86) still shave their legs. I shave below the knee bc my thighs just grow wispies.
dutch_emdub@reddit
I shave my legs in summer. My leg hair is long and dark and I'd feel uncomfortable not shaving it. That said, I love the new trend of young women not shaving! Good for them!
jen_esse@reddit
All the time. I have very thick, stubbly leg hair. I'm lucky if a shave gives me 24 hours of smooth legs. But I'm a kayaker and I can't stand looking at my stubbly legs when I'm kayaking. Plus, I can't stand the feeling of stubble against my clothes and sheets.
ClashBandicootie@reddit
Yes, the internalized misogyny in me that I'm still combating at 41 tells me to say "it's because I find it more comfortable" but in all reality it's habit and I can't stand looking at my leg hairs 😿
Fair-Flower6907@reddit
legs only in the summer, when I'm wearing shorts/dress/skirts
pits, trimmed short w/ hair trimmer occasionally but not clean shaven (I'm less of a sweaty lady beast this way and my hair is really thin and pale anyway)
BUT, I live in a hippy college town and anything from shaving your whole body (eyebrows and all) to full hairy sasquatch or rainbow twists are acceptable
brittanytobiason@reddit
I'll say it: shaving legs, like bleaching hair and a variety of fashion classics, make a woman appear to be a child. We're at a point in time where it might be most responsible to "do whatever," just try not to reinforce the weird idea children are sexy with the overall effect.
Sapiophile23@reddit
Maybe every other month. It depends on how much I care when I plan my outfit for the day, (pits & legs).
Alchia79@reddit
Only once or twice a month now. More during swim season. My 21 year old daughter rarely shaves, which was CRAZY to me as someone who shaved daily at that age. I’m used to it now.
silversunshinestares@reddit
I don't really need to -- I was blessed with very fine, blonde leg hair, so I only have to shave once in a while. I do shave my underarms, though.
PuppyJakeKhakiCollar@reddit
My leg hair has really thinned out and only grows on the lower part of my legs so I only shave the occasionally. Arm pits still get shaved regularly, otherwise I get sweaty and stinky, even though I shower daily and wear deodorant.
AnyAngle7212@reddit
I absolutely shave my legs and pits, but only twice a week. If I shave more than that, I’m not as smooth after the shave.
Whatchab@reddit
It's far too uncomfortable for me not to shave my pits, but I am lax on the legs, especially above the knees. I shave my ankles most as it's darker hair down there.
Also about 6 years ago I was backpacking around Central America and had little water and also IDGAF since I knew I'd never see anyone I encountered again. It was freeing to not shave, but also weird. It blows in the wind! Lotion is a bummer. A small child pet my leg! I took pics of it to prove it happened!
phoenix0r@reddit
West coaster here, I’ve never seen anyone around me skip shaving legs or pits. Haven’t seen that since I visited France!
Feisty-Comfort-3967@reddit
You gotta get out more.
phoenix0r@reddit
Very possible lol
beautifulcheat@reddit
Really? I'm in Southern California and I can think of at least two people off the top of my head who don't shave their legs at least... 🤔
walksonbeaches@reddit
Also SoCal here and can report that within my own peer group and slightly younger friends it’s maybe 50/50. And I have friends from the middle of the country who do not shave either.
I break from the pack in that I shave my legs (albeit nowhere near daily, even in summer) but I get sweatier if I shave under my arms than if I don’t. I find a little hair there keeps me much cooler and more comfortable. and I know even fewer women who are still shaving their armpits than legs.
sleepy_unicorn40@reddit
Now you can say 4. My adult daughter and i dont shave (I do like once or twice a year) and we are in Southern CA.
helicopter_corgi_mom@reddit
California? I live in the PNW, and I see it daily, usually multiple times a day on a number of femme presenting people. I have quite a few friends as well that don't shave
Ok-Concert-6475@reddit
I'm PNW as well. My take is that culture around here has an unwritten rule that if you work in corporate America and are a female, you should be shaving (at least your armpits). But outside of those settings, it's much more optional. I shave my armpits year round, but my legs only in the summer. I know many, many women who don't shave at all.
Feisty-Comfort-3967@reddit
Not the California in USA.
Ohshithereiamagain@reddit
Tell me more about this Central American trip.
PlausibleAuspice@reddit
lol the few times I’ve let it grow long enough to waft in the wind, I did not like it at all!
aprillikesthings@reddit
Oh see I love that feeling. It's not really summer until I feel the breeze in my leg hairs lolol
MadLucy@reddit
See also: getting into a swimming pool with leg hair. Swishing around like a dang kelp forest!
melanyebaggins@reddit
That's when I finally get around to shaving it 😄
Far-Implement-818@reddit
KdawgEdog@reddit
As a man who tried shaving one leg, it felt weird af, water ran down my leg fast! I honestly don't care if my female partner shaved or not though
Possible_Management4@reddit
West coast of Canada.. I shave like 1x / week for my legs so my hair doesn’t drag inside my pants. Pits are more rare. Downstairs. I get waxed every 4 -5 weeks because I like it
roxylikeahurricane@reddit
I feel like “a small child pet my leg!” Should be a tag on here hahahaha
Whatchab@reddit
Legit LOL
Danny-Wah@reddit
A small child pet your legs!? XD
Whatchab@reddit
Yes! She was a toddler next to me on a bus and who just kept staring at my legs (and arms). Her mom then told me the kid had never seen arm or leg hair before. It was very cute. 😆
HeyPrettyLadyMaam@reddit
I made a new year resolution in 2024 to give myself a year off shaving my legs (got so tired of shaving 3+ times a week, especially in my house where the ac and heat blow in extreme temps. Always got goosebumps so bad on shaving day I had stubble before I was dry). I spent the year in jeans, didnt shave once, saved money on razors and shaving cream.....still shaved my pits regularly. But the legs? I haven't shaved them since 2024. And being tired of our species backwards gender roles (all of nature the MALES have to be pretty and try to land a mate. Females do nothing but wait for her choice of the many pretty men trying to catch her eye. I'm tired of shaving, doing my hair and makeup just so others fins me OK to look at. And no clue why I care really. I just wanna put as much effort into it as men. They shave their face. Thats it. Why can't I just shave my pits? We would be even.
Far-Implement-818@reddit
CO_Livn@reddit
Had laser hair removal. Best money ever spent. Some people with very thin and/or light colored hair can get away with it shaving. Not this chica.
bokatan778@reddit
I always shave my legs and underarms! I just enjoy the way they feel smooth, but more power to the younger ladies if they don’t want to!
I feel like if may be time to invest in laser hair removal.
MeatAndBourbon@reddit
I've done / am doing laser and it's fantastic. Full body, no more shaving. If you're light skinned with darker hair it works great. Do it before you go grey!
Chance-Glove1589@reddit
Every day. I shave both legs and pits. I tried laser before my wedding twenty years ago. My hair was too light and it didn’t work.
So even if I don’t leave the house, I’m still going to shave my legs and shave under my arms. I have two boys so I can’t pass on the anal retentiveness about shaving everyday to a daughter (to be fair, my mom does not shave everyday - it’s just me).
But they have taken a shower/bath almost every day of their entire lives. Especially now in puberty - nobody goes to bed without a shower.
swaggering_yak@reddit
Yup, one of my favorite things is clean sheet night with freshly shaved legs
Auntie_Venom@reddit
This is me so much! There’s nothing like that feeling!
I shave my pits every time I shower… Swipe swipe done. I feel cleaner with them shaved. The hair holds the funk too much especially after a day of sweating in the garden.
saltybruise@reddit
Do it, it's worth every penny. I too am on team I don't like the feel of leg hair on myself, who cares what men think.
Arisyd1751244@reddit
Same! I love having smooth skin
Snowpant@reddit (OP)
Yes same!!! I’m like good for you, but I just prefer the feel of no hair. Most of my friends are in that age range and none of them shave, I don’t care at all but after I got out of the shower today it got me thinking
dopestofdopesoap@reddit
Ever since going through chemo, my leg hair has pretty much gone away. It only mainly grows on my knees now?? Even there, it's very fine/light-colored. Add to that that I simply don't care anymore. I really hope it becomes less and less of "a thing", or at least stops being something women are expected to do. I can think of a million better ways to spend my time.
Extra_Shirt5843@reddit
Yes, but I've never had to shave more than once a week so it's not a big deal.
Erisedstorm@reddit
Pits yes. Legs rarely
sunsetandporches@reddit
I stopped at like 19. I hated shaving. Iin college I did some waxing which I loved but uh money. When I turned 21 my friends from my conservative hometown decided to shave my pits for me while I was drunk. Funny till i realized that was kinda violating. All in all I don’t shave and my kid let me know I have more hair than her dad on my pits. Don’t care. My value does not come from how little hair I have.
JoyOswin945@reddit
Leg and armpit hair is a sensory nightmare for me. So yes, I shave daily. I’m not super meticulous about it, but I am wildly uncomfortable with even a day’s growth.
Thatbcanstitch@reddit
I shave my pits fairly often... at least every other day in the summer and at least once a week in the winter.
Now the legs, lol. In the winter, I'll shave to the knee like once a month. Mostly because it feels like the hairs get stuck in my socks. In the summer, I'll do every week or two, unless we are going to a gathering where I think people might notice
Peg_pond_gem@reddit
Fuck no
floofyragdollcat@reddit
I haven’t shaved in probably a decade.
I use an epilator, but honestly because of that, or my aging, I haven’t had to use the thing in a year.
I have sparse long hairs randomly growing out of my legs, and another benefit of getting older is that I really don’t care anymore what someone might think.
BeaniePole1792@reddit
I shave my arms but now my legs are hit or miss. The issue is that I have fair skin and my head hair is blonde/gray(not dyed) but my leg hair is dark.
My daughter who is 14 doesn’t see a point in shaving but her hair is light blonde on her legs so you don’t see it. And I say good for her for being her own person.
CurlsintheClouds@reddit
I noticed that my daughter and my nieces don't shave as often as I used to. I have one niece who doesn't shave anything. I myself don't care as much as I used to. I'll shave below the knee in warm weather when I'm wearing a skirt or shorts...but only maybe a couple times a week. In the winter, barely at all. I woman-scape and shave my armpits on the regular.
Special_Aardvark8317@reddit
I shave my armpits probably every two weeks and my legs maybe quarterly. I definitely kept up with it through my 20s, but just stopped caring about it around 30.
Smartal3ck@reddit
If I were in a relationship I would. But I haven’t been for quite some time so I just don’t care.
Popculture-VIP@reddit
Lol here I was assuming all the married women are letting it grow out. I'm still dating.
Snowpant@reddit (OP)
Yeah I’m not married but in a solid long term relationship…. If I stopped I don’t think he would care, I just do it for me really!
Ok-Concert-6475@reddit
Doing it for yourself is honestly the best reason.
Notabagofdrugs@reddit
My wife doesn’t anymore and I don’t care at all. I don’t think most guys would care now.
Get_Breakfast_Done@reddit
My wife does (well, waxes) and I’m glad she does, but we both have expectations of each other in this general area so I think it’s fair.
Notabagofdrugs@reddit
No, I’m saying mine doesn’t shave anymore and k don’t care at all. She also has very fine hair, and you can’t even see it.
Get_Breakfast_Done@reddit
Nah I’m just disagreeing with the “most guys don’t care” part. I believe you that you don’t but I think plenty of us still do
Notabagofdrugs@reddit
Ahhh, I hear you. Makes sense.
Popculture-VIP@reddit
Except if they are single, unfortunately..
Oraistesu@reddit
Like anything, just depends on the person. I've never given a hoot about whether my girlfriend shaves and I still don't. They either have or haven't for their own reasons, but I've always made a point to say that I don't care either way.
OneJarOfPeanutButter@reddit
My wife regularly is like “sorry I don’t shave more” and I always tell her I don’t care one way or another. Hair or no hair, I love her the same
Sufficient_Turn_9209@reddit
Same. I slack off in the winter and can't stand the way it feels after so long. I've been known to jump out of bed after uncomfortably tossing and shave my legs to be more comfortable. 😆
ilikecats415@reddit
I'm married but I shave for me. I shave daily and always have because I like the feel of smooth skin. I shave my arms as well as my legs.
phoenix0r@reddit
I’m married and don’t let it grow out
username__0000@reddit
25 year relationship - I don’t shave all winter and only in the summer if I’m wearing shorts (not often) or swimming.
I felt weird about it when I 1st stopped. But he does not care.
Just makes it like “oOoOo something different!” The few times I do shave lol
OhSoSolipsistic@reddit
Same, hardly ever. Once covid started I’m like… why? idgaf (but always pits, I sweat a lot so ew)
Electronic_World_894@reddit
Same!
BeBopBarr@reddit
Are you me? 😅
melanyebaggins@reddit
My partner doesn't care at all, or if he does he's never said or did anything to indicate it.
Smartal3ck@reddit
I was just really into shaving and lotion hygiene when I used to date. But then realized dating wasnt worth it and then realized shaving wasn’t worth it either.
forgetfulsue@reddit
In a relationship and my husband doesn’t care. I only shave when I’m going to the beach. Even then it’s usually just my pits.
seche314@reddit
Same, husband doesn’t care one way or another. My leg hair has gone completely blonde (or white??) so I can’t see it anymore anyway and don’t care myself
Smartal3ck@reddit
Yah I’m not married and have no desire to be.
SilverAsparagus2985@reddit
I do in the summer because I prefer it for myself but i certainly don’t do it for anybody else because I could not GAF about that.
And I applaud the women that don’t center a man’s experience by doing whatever the fuck they want.
fidgety_sloth@reddit
We have a pool and live within easy driving distance of the beach. Definitely shaving daily and throughly from May through August. The rest of the year, daily below the knees but once a week for the rest of the leg is fine. Pits are daily. Also worth noting though that I’m very fair with dark hair.
AsparagusOverall8454@reddit
Since having hit peri, I rarely shave my legs in the summer. Maybe once a month. Armpits I trim but same thing. Ain’t nobody looking that close anyways.
Typical-Human-Thing@reddit
Only on an as needed basis: if I'm wearing a dress or shorts or going to the gym a lot or it's summer. In winter, I let it be.
DisDev@reddit
I quit shaving legs and pits about a decade ago now, haven't looked back. Although I do shave my legs (knees to ankles) on occasion. I've gone full hippie dippie, haha. I just figured "who am I shaving for" and if the answer isn't "for me" then what's the point.
besufern@reddit
I don’t like the feeling of long leg hair, but I don’t bother with it until it starts to bug me. I can go a lot longer without shaving my pits because I don’t really notice it. I feel like if I had never started shaving, I would be used to the feeling of hair, and it might not bother me, but alas.
CheerfullyCursed@reddit
I still shave all the places. I have fair skin and dark hair (on my legs anyway, on my head it’s grey 🙄) It makes me feel better to shave.
PM_ME_CORGI_BUTTS@reddit
Only because I like to wear leggings and when I don't shave the feeling of long leg hairs rubbing inside the fabric drives me nuts
PickledPixie83@reddit
I do. I just don’t like the feeling of hair.
pdx_via_dtw@reddit
I despise female hairy pit. im not a huge fan of hairy legs but whatever. personally, i shave my legs once a month, maybe. my leg hair has also kind of lessened by half in the last 10 years.
PresentationThick341@reddit
I've only ever done it occasionally. Raised by hippies.
Fine_time@reddit
I’ve been shaving my legs less, not because the hair is less visible (didn’t know that could happen!) but being more tired after work, and my boyfriend who lives with me has no opinion on the matter but I hate having hairy legs. I do shave my armpits every shower, crucial. Right now I skipped too many days between leg shaving but will still go out for errands in shorts today.
The thing that changed is that I don’t care what I look like in public, like there’s no reason to care if anyone thinks anything or knows my legs exist. I just like the feeling of shaved legs.
JoshDunkley@reddit
Daughter is 13. We have left it up to her. So far, she doesn't give a fuck.
My son's 16 and he says girls shave. So.
Some do some don't?
hairballcouture@reddit
I let it grow until my leg hairs catch the breeze, then I shave.
Spare-Actual@reddit
I have grown to love the feeling of my leg hair in the breeze lol! I get sad when I shave it to wear shorts.
alarson1985@reddit
I have just recently in the last year stopped shaving. The first couple of times out in shorts I was so uncomfortable, I kept waiting for someone to yell look at her hairy legs! But no one did and I've gotten used to it. I also am not extremely hairy, so that helps.
Fuck the patriarchy and capitalism
Spare-Actual@reddit
I let my leg and armpit hair grow out during Covid. I had this kind of emotional moment looking at myself in the mirror, realizing that it had taken me over 40 years to see my body in its natural state—what I actually look like without men’s beauty standards being pushed on me. Since then, I shave my armpits about 4x per year, and I only shave my legs in the summer. Im a lesbian, and my wife couldn’t care less whether I shave or not. I wish I could quit shaving my legs entirely, but I work in a parks dept with a bunch of guys and I don’t feel like dealing with their bs every time I wear shorts.
ROXSTR80@reddit
My body hair on my thighs is blonde and fairly space. So I haven't shaved there in years. I do my calves about once a week in the summer since it's slightly more course and light brown & my armpits every few days. I do a bit of landscaping on the bush every couple of weeks when it starts to annoy me (or if I'll be in a swimsuit). I get itchy when anything gets too long or I probably wouldn't shave at all.
RiotPurrrl@reddit
Yup! I like to be smooth like a dolphin. Add in some freshly washed sheets and I’m in heaven
Jubilies@reddit
I do when I show my bare legs. I always shave my pits. Just a personally preference.
toomuchtv987@reddit
I don’t during the winter. In the summer I do once a week. Pits also get shaved once a week with the legs and in the winter I shave them when I remember to.
Affectionate_Ask_769@reddit
I see a lot of twenty something’s who don’t shave their pits or legs.
I shave. I’ve shaved for so long that the sensation of long hair feels weird. I conditioned myself for shaved to feel normal and now unshaven feels uncomfortable.
oaksso7880@reddit
This is how I feel. I shave my legs every time I shower so if I skip a shave, my brain tells me I haven't showered. As soon as I feel a little stubble, my immediate urge is to shower. It takes all of 45 seconds to shave, I see no reason not to.
Sea-Star8753@reddit
Same! It's been a habit since I was a teenager so now that I'm in my 40's, I don't like how it feels if I don't shave.
moonstruck523@reddit
I grew up in Florida but now live in the northeast, and I usually only shave my legs regularly in the summer when I have to wear shorts and swimsuits. The rest of year I let it go and shave occasionally, or if I plan to wear a skirt. Armpits I shave all year round though. I’m sure if I still lived in Florida I’d shave more often the rest of the year since it’s warmer there, but if I’m not showing leg it’s not on my priority list 😂
min_mus@reddit
My 18 year old Gen Z daughter doesn't shave.
Beck316@reddit
Well, it's getting to be shorts weather here so leg shaving will start up again soon.
RedSolez@reddit
Best money I've ever spent has been laser hair removal. I removed it for ME. I don't like the sensation of body hair rubbing against my clothes. I am active in a swimsuit all summer and don't want to see or feel pubes nor do I want to wear boy shorts or something that would cover the entire region. I think even if I were a man I'd want to remove my body hair 😂 My husband is seriously considering it for his beard. He has no desire to actually sport a beard but his face is in a permanent 5:00 shadow starting just a few hours after he shaves.
NeroliRose@reddit
I’m in the same boat. I have pili multigemini, which is a condition where one hair follicle sprouts multiple hairs and it’s concentrated on my legs. Shaving was always an exercise in futility because thick and dark leg stubble would show up after a few hours, whereas the other hair on my body and head has always been light brown. Ingrown hairs and the subsequent scars were a constant issue. In 2016, I earned a good bonus at work and promptly slapped down the money for laser. Never looked back. I haven’t shaved my legs in ten years.
HugeTheWall@reddit
I have this too, even my head hair is like this. I thought it was the norm actually. Maybe that explains why laser hurt so much!
It never got rid of everything even after many sessions over a year - maybe like 10% is left? I still shave it like once a week because it annoys me but at least it's way thinner and the hairs that are left seem kind of softer and single hairs instead of like 2 or 3 wires coming out of one follicle.
RedSolez@reddit
I've been doing laser hair removal for 5 years at this point but I'm at the stage where I need a spot treatment every 6 months. One year is certainly not enough time to have caught every follicle because they grow in cycles.
Express_Signal_8828@reddit
Oh, I never heard of piling multigemini but I must have it --or in my case it's called Mediterranean genes 🥲, but yeah, my legs stay nice and soft for like 12 hours after shaving. I do like not having to draw my eyebrows.
isharoulette@reddit
I switched to IPL treatments at home so I only have to shave like once every 3 weeks. shave smarter not harder! 😉
Miriyum1031@reddit
Ooooh, please tell more about these treatments you speak of! 😍
Crunchy_Neuron@reddit
I use the ULike IPL device though a lot of folks like the Braun version. I used as instructed for about three months, then was able to ease back to every other week and eventually to once a month. Over a year later I do touch ups for a few strays that pop up but I’m pretty smooth everywhere I’ve treated, including bikini area. 10/10 highly recommend.
isharoulette@reddit
yep I got the Braun one and I've had the same one for like 3 years now and still going!
WendyPortledge@reddit
Twice a week. I do it for myself. Though, I am curious to let it go someday.
Delic10u5Bra1n5@reddit
Every couple of weeks. As I’ve gotten older, I have less body hair to start with (except for those random neck pubes). However I do shave my armpits.
My teenager (who admittedly doesn’t GAF about what other people think/do) only occasionally hits the armpits with an electric razor and doesn’t even bother with her legs.
Gamecockgirl79@reddit
I'm regularly part of the no shave November - May club but once it gets warmer, I have to shave them. Now I will say, I only shave them when I'm wearing something that's going to show them. If it's a jeans and tshirt kinda day, it ain't happening.
Green_Conclusion3443@reddit
Yes, but not regularly. Leg hair doesn't bother me so I rarely address it. Whether or not there's any basis to it, I feel cleaner without armpit hair.
smcivor1982@reddit
I still do both, if I don’t, it actually irritates me, especially my legs. I have super sensitive skin and for some reason, when my leg hair gets longer, it makes me itchy while wearing pants. Makes me crazy. I wouldn’t bother shaving if this didn’t happen.
uhhhhhhhh_nope@reddit
This is where I'm at too tbh but I taught myself how to wax instead so I could do it at home.
GrumpyKaeKae@reddit
What product or kit do you use for waxing?
uhhhhhhhh_nope@reddit
I got a wax-at-home kit from Amazon (I think the brand is called Lifestance) in 2021 but once I used up the wax beads that came with the kit I just bought other wax beads, not necessarily the same brand as the wax warmer. There's a hair removal subreddit that's been pretty useful.
GrumpyKaeKae@reddit
Man there is a sub for everything. Thanks! Ill look for it.
mistegirl@reddit
Ya if I let my pits go too long I stink, so I handle that. Leg hair? Hahah my 13 year old niece, who takes after me way more than her mom and I have a contest going on who has the harriest legs. Sadly we're both part bigfoot, so it's basically a tie
Alarming_Fun_7246@reddit
Yes and I will die on this hill. My body hair is light in color and fine; but I hate the feeling of leg hair rubbing against my clothes. That said, I don’t get much of it above the knees, so I stop at the knees.
I started doing laser hair removal a few months ago when my chin hairs became intolerable and the consultant offered me a package that included underarms. I’m SO GLAD that I went for the upsell, it’s been money very well spent. I think I’ll eventually do my legs as well, but I may wait a few years and see if I start sprouting hair anywhere else on my face that I want removed, as it makes sense to do it at the same time as another area.
Ohshithereiamagain@reddit
I switched from razors to trimmers. I do it for me, and I do it where I can reach.
AggressiveSherbetty@reddit
Yes, but it’s a lot thinner and lighter than it used to be so I don’t have to as often. It’s an age thing, my grandma was nearly hairless when she died.
carrot8080@reddit
the growth rate on my leg hair has slowed down a lot over the past 6-8 years. Now I only shave a few times per summer. I do still shave my pits once a week. My teen kid never shaves her legs! She will do her pits if she’s wearing a sleeveless top, but not otherwise.
ShakeItUpNowSugaree@reddit
I started using an at-home IPL device last year and it's greatly reduced how often I have to shave.
LatinBotPointTwo@reddit
I know it's silly, but I'm a product of my time. I tried going razor free but couldn't stand it. However, the beaver now roams free. Shaving off all the short and curlies was hellish. I trim the bush, but that's it.
ponytailsandaviators@reddit
I still do a few times a week in warm weather, about once a week in cold weather. I like feeling like a dolphin.
alwaystheocean@reddit
I don't, but only because I'm disabled. If I had the energy and it wouldn't hurt so much, I would do it right now. I miss bare legs.
Writeforwhiskey@reddit
I shave my legs once a year because I barely get hair on my legs. Sometimes I'll go 2 or 3 years no shaving because its so fine I dont see or feel it.
We_are_ok_right@reddit
Ok so, we moved into a house with one bathtub, and whenever I shaved, all the hairs came back up in my small children’s bath 😭 we’re adding a second full bath to the basement, so I was like, eff it, it’s almost done I’ll wait for the new shower. My husband doesn’t care.
It’s been months of delays on the basement and now I’m fully hairy on legs and arms and my Gen Z coworkers told me they thought it was cool. I guess I’m cool now.
lordskulldragon@reddit
...and the younger generation is wondering why they're still single.
nighteyes_fitz@reddit
I will occasionally wax. If my underarm hair gets too long and caught in my bra it goes. Even living in Australia and it being hot I don't smell any different with or without hair 🤷🏾♀️ just lucky I guess. I can definitely understand if it does change your smell why you would.
My daughter and I often compare leg hair growth 😂 she's 24.
Classic_Breadfruit18@reddit
I still shave my pits and legs weekly (I don't mind a little stubble), but have been going full bush for a while.
Poisonous_Periwinkle@reddit
2-3 times a week with the grain. My skin can't handle more than that.
LNSU78@reddit
I have a skin condition known as kp. I’ve tried everything to stop the tiny scabs. The only thing that works is not shaving.
JDeedee21@reddit
Sometimes ? Like not regularly, being over 40 has enlightened me on things I find important, so I see leg hair on myself but may take days to address it . This drives my older personal trainer crazy because she’s kind of a boomer but super fit , so I just wear longer leggings when I see her 😂
jackytheripper1@reddit
Not really. Only for special occasions

tasi671@reddit
I'm a millenial and I still shave my legs everyday (armpits everyday as well). Even though I almost never have my legs out. I just like the way it feels.
birdieponderinglife@reddit
I don’t shave my pits. Legs I’ll shave for special occasions. I love how soft and smooth they feel but the amount of work to keep it up daily is way too much. Sometimes I’ll use a trimmers I like them long enough to feel soft but not so long my legs are a jungle.
Snugglebunny1983@reddit
When I remember to do it. Most of the time, I just let it be.
cervezamonkey@reddit
Not shaved my legs in literally years and not at all bothered about doing it. Pits yes, but not regularly. More at this time of year as I feel like I get smelly if they get too long!
Resident_Pomelo_1337@reddit
Yep.
Invested in a home laser thing and religiously used it weekly for about 6 months so I don’t have to do much anymore, but I still do a quick shave weekly or so or before events.
I much prefer the feel of smooth legs and moisturiser works better, so even if it’s winter and no one is seeing them I prefer it. I live in Aust near the beach and I can’t say I’ve seen many non-smooth female legs around, maybe it’s the surf lifestyle.
ADHDFeeshie@reddit
I'm semi-reformed. I shave occasionally in shorts season but not nearly as regularly as I used to. I'm in a kind of mental war with "fuck your bullshit beauty standards!" on one side and "why is my leg hair SO DARK???" on the other 😬.
I shave my armpits a little more often than my legs, even in winter, because I feel like it's harder to get good deodorant coverage when they're hairy. I know that's not the case for everybody's pits but I get smelly fast if I'm not careful. It's still not really constant, maybe every couple weeks if I remember
Disastrous_Living890@reddit
Nope. Not for over a decade. My leg hair has thinned out/disappeared to where it's mostly only noticeable on my shins. I don't even notice my armpit hair anymore.
Astrazigniferi@reddit
I have fair skin, dark hair, and an Italian bloodline that makes my hair plentiful and curly. I shave my armpits and my legs from ankle to bikini line at every shower. Even in winter. I live in the PNW and don’t want anyone to tranq me and bring me in as a Sasquatch. Everything my one-piece middle-aged-mom swimsuit covers grows wild and free, though, because forget dealing with pube stubble.
SuCzar@reddit
Only if I'm bein fancy
IvenaDarcy@reddit
Old fashioned to not want hairy arm pits and to want smooth hairless legs? Call me old fashioned!
I guess it’s same as hippies in the 60’s who didn’t shave so some youth don’t shave? All the women I know young and old shave minus a lesbian I know. She grooms but doesn’t like to be smooth for whatever reason.
japhia_aurantia@reddit
I last shaved my legs for a wedding in 2016, and just now realized it's been almost exactly a decade. I still shave my pits about once a week because I find it more comfortable.
olduglysweater@reddit
I get more hair on my face and neck than legs sadly. I wax or shave more up there than anything.
Wonderful_Mango_5395@reddit
Always. Legs, pits, down there. I am very pale but with thick black hair soo..it's not a good look if it grows out lol, not going around looking like Sasquatch lol.
I also happen to like it when guys shave pits and chest but spouse is way too lazy lol so I let him be

Not as often but if someone is going to see them yes.
Not seen anyone not shaving... more people shaving pits, arms and legs.
Down-In-The-Weeds@reddit
I do. That said, I’m not too hairy so I don’t have to too often.
DrJaneIPresume@reddit
I do, but to be fair I've just started recently.
PumpkinSpice2Nice@reddit
Yes but not as often as I should. My pits mainly as I like them better shaved. My leg hair is fair and fine so only I notice when I’m hairy.
Afootinafieldofmen@reddit
I live in the Pacific Northwest where this has always been optional. I hate shaving but once or twice a year I’ll get a leg/bikini wax just to feel civilized and appropriate for the neighborhood pool
farie_princess@reddit
Maybe if I am getting dressed up or for things like family photos. Otherwise nah not worth the time or effort.
brainvheart143@reddit
Yes I do. But some of my younger friends stopped shaving their pits. I don’t get it.
SurlySuz@reddit
I cannot be bothered. No man I’ve ever been with has cared. I will shave my legs the odd time I wear a dress or skirt… or I guess shorts. But I rarely wear any of those things so don’t bother. I do generally keep my pits shaved in the summer and sporadically through the winter. Have always been a bit alt and a tomboy anyway haha
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
Being a bit of a tomboy comment reminded me of my tomboy teenage self refusing to pluck or wax my eyebrows if the boys didn't have to. On the plus size I never lost my eyebrows to the super thin fashions of those times.
SurlySuz@reddit
Me too! And I have quite thick natural eyebrows. I used to tidy them up a bit in my early 20s but never plucked them thin. Had such a laugh when the thin brows went out of style again
Dr_Alexis@reddit
I removed the hair with laser
Omgkimwtf@reddit
Pits daily, I can't handle the feeling of pit stubble.
Legs is less often. In warm months, I'll shave every few days, depending on how visible leg stubble is and if I'm showing my legs or not. Cold months, upwards of over a week between grooming.
My older sister doesn't shave anymore. One difference between us is that I have pale skin and dark hair whereas she has more tan skin and lighter hair; ie, leg hair isn't as visible on her as it is on me.
-LeoKnowz-@reddit
Not since the late 90s.
Ditzy_Davros@reddit
Il shave my pits regularly. Legs maybe once every two weeks. If I let it go too long and then shave, boy do I regret it. Itchy itchy!
CloseButNoChicory@reddit
Haven't shaved armpits in over a decade... Because I started getting them professionally waxed instead and the repeated pulls have weaked the filaments so much that the hair is now really sparse. Very cheap as beauty treatments go because it takes so little time. Hot wax moulds to the irregularly-shaped crevice so it's about 2 pulls on each side rather than several strips. I get it done maybe every three months. Right now it's been six weeks yet it's as short and light as the hair on my arms.
Stopped shaving legs because I couldn't be bothered.
AuntieBubba23@reddit
I shave the legs but only once a week as they don't grow as fast. I don't shave my pits. I was having skin issues when I would shave so I stop and have no issues since. But if I have a doc appointment they get shaved.
MinnieCastavets@reddit
I hardly grow any hair but yeah I shave.
loquacious541@reddit
My Gen Alpha daughter does.
Cai_x2_ne@reddit
I'll shave my legs if I'm wearing shorts, skirts, swimsuit, or such. If I'm wearing pants, I usually don't bother. My armpit hair only grows back very short, thin, and soft due to lasering, so I can get away with running a razor over it only 1-2 times a week.
PsychologicalAsk4455@reddit
For legs, I don’t shave above the knee
LopensCouisin@reddit
Absolutely and on a regular basis. Hair on my legs makes my skin crawl.
PRN_Lexington@reddit
I shave my legs about 6 to 10 times a year. I shave my pits maybe a little bit more….. but in frequently enough that my kids often comment on how long my armpit hair is.
Dainethewildmage@reddit
I used to keep my legs & armpits shaved, but I have very sensitive skin and a tendency towards ingrown hairs. I spent so many years trying to find razors and shave creams that didn’t leave me with razor burn and irritated skin.
Eventually one summer in my 30’s I gave up. It turns out only shaving occasionally is the best for me. Basically every 4-6 weeks or so in the summer for legs and every month for pits-no more rashes, the hair is fine enough to not bother me.
Most of my friends are still die hard never let your man see you without being shaved, exfoliated, and plucked to perfection though.
New_Needleworker_473@reddit
Oh no thanks. I hate hair on my legs, too itchy. And I haven't had hair in my pits since Clinton was president. Lol!!

Brave_Tadpole2072@reddit
Nope! I hate the itchy feeling when the hair grows back, so I gave up a long time ago.
FingerCapital3193@reddit
Not always. Whenever I feel like it …
I wax, so the hair has to grow a certain length before i can wax again anyway, and sometimes I end up waiting really long time.
moving2mars@reddit

beautifulcheat@reddit
I get itchy if I don't (literally), But I really have never shaved above my knees, because the hair there is so baby fine and pale that no one notices it.
MissIndependent577@reddit
Yes, but only about once every 2 weeks on average. In winter, maybe a little less and summer a little more.
StormyStenafie@reddit
The only hair removal I practice is cleaning up my eyebrows. It's been challenging with the armpits because stupid beauty standards are still so present in my head after decades of conditioning.
I don't mind the leg hair, it's actually soft and doesn't bother me.
I just want to be comfortable and to be left alone. I don't want wires in my bra or sticky mascara on my eyelashes. I do not want to practice time consuming grooming habits that cost a lot of money. Why are razors so expensive? Let me grow into an old crone in peace.
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
I am thoroughly enjoying this turning into an old hag phase of my life. It's joyfully freeing letting go of social beauty standards.
Twilight_Skip34@reddit

Feisty-Comfort-3967@reddit
HEEEEEEEEEELL NO. I stopped when I decided I'd marry my bf over a decade ago. I only started shaving because I thought I was supposed to.😆 I only kept shaving for men.🤣 Apparently, my legs only do sparse hairs anyway but I have pretty respectable armpit hair. At least enough to make a newly pubescent boy jealous.
affectionateanarchy8@reddit
No i quit like 15 years ago out of laziness and I find I smell better
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
The armpit smell is actually why I stopped! I don't know why but at some point shaving my armpits started to make my pit sweat smell like male cat pee. So I stopped and the smell left.
I'm now at the stage of life where the hairy areas not on my chin is disappearing. No smell has returned with the hair loss. So just a weird life body thing.
sea_chelle7@reddit

Currently in the tub to do just that after I saw my hairy ol’ legs at the pool today! The long dark hairs on my pale skin make ME uncomfortable, especially in the pubic area, so I’m doing it for me.
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
I'm working on being ok with going to the public pool with my hairy legs. But the paleness of the skin to the darkness of my leg hairs just bothers me.
Got my pubic area lasered in my early 20s and it never grew back. And I got it done for free because I traded services with the technician. Best early 20s decision I made!

SmellTheRoses78@reddit
Nah. I was never consistent about shaving in the first place so it was an easy decision. I shave my armpits but that's just personal preference. I don't like armpit hair any anyone haha
butterednoodlelovers@reddit
I only shaved my pits for years. My armpits have now stopped growing hair. So that's nice. I guess.

I hate the feel of having body hair so shave regularly. Not quite daily, but close.
But it’s entirely for my own physical comfort (probably an ADHD-related thing), not any sort of statement or to please someone else.
I fully support everyone doing what’s right for them! Pressuring someone else to shave or, equally, pressuring someone NOT to shave is so weird.

Speaking negatively about others' bodies is way more gross than someone being comfortable with their own body. I hope you get ingrown eyelashes
CalmDownReddit509@reddit
Tells me that it's gross to speak negatively about others' bodies. Proceeds to speak negatively about my body. lol, what a clown.
Denali973@reddit

I've done it on and off. I'm bi but lived as a lesbian for years and was more masculine in the late nineties theough 2010s. Didn't do it much through those times, just here and there because sometimes smooth legs feel nice. I also love swimming and at some point in my early 30s noticed teen girls pointing at my armpit hair and got self conscious after it happened a few times. I started shaving more to avoid attention and shave every few months or so now, more in the summer and keep the pits trimmed if I'm not shaving and they are exposed. I am married to a dude now and he seems just as into me when I'm furry.
New_Stats@reddit
Depends on the weather
When it's too cold for a dress and bare legs? Absolutely not, there's no need
When it's hot and I wear nothing but dresses to work, I buy some Nair and use it on Sundays just above the knee & down. Lasts about a week
Pits get done as needed. Once a week at least. If I'm wearing a sleeveless dress, they get shaved the night before
AnteaterCritical9168@reddit
I haven’t shaved my pits in over a decade. I shave my legs like once every 3 years.
But also, I don’t think I agree with your premise. I’m a nurse midwife. Most of my patients are millennials and Gen Z— and the vast majority of them are not only still shaving their pits and legs, but also doing near total/total pubic hair removal.
Honestly, I feel like it’s the older among our generation and into Gen X that were the last (for now) to not massively remove pubic hair.
MotherofaPickle@reddit
Yes, but with certain conditions. In summer , pretty regularly, because I wear dresses and, for some godawful reason, I still like being tan. In the winter, only when the leg hair gets so long that it rubs on pants legs and sheets and becomes very uncomfortable. And that’s only ankle to knee, never above.
Armpits are a it’s-warm-enough-to-wear-something-sleeveless thing.
Kellzy1212@reddit
I do, but i skip sometimes too. I just like the feeling, but idc what anyone else thinks about it. I wax my armpits too, but i don’t keep them 100%, just most of it. I have blonde leg hair, so it’s not obvious when i skip.
PureOrange7049@reddit
I shave my armpits pretty regularly, but legs is a different story. In the summer I’ll shave about once a week or so, depends how often I’m wearing shorts. In the winter all bets are off, I’ll maybe shave once or twice. The hair provides an extra layer to help keep me warm.
InsideBase9235@reddit
Absolutely 100%. I shave everything.
BrandyBunch805@reddit
I shave every day.
aprillikesthings@reddit
I actually stopped in 1997, the summer after I graduated high school.
And while yes I was a rather ardent feminist, it was mostly because I cannot fucking STAND how stubble feels, and I always got stubbly within a single day. I'm allergic to Nair, and waxing just sounded too painful to bother.
I will say that it just skimmed a certain kind of asshole right off the top of the dating pool, when I dated men.
GardenHobbit@reddit
Did “No shave November “ for funsies like seven years ago and never looked back. I’ve shaved my legs I think three times since. Pits once and it felt too weird.
Equivalent-Grade-142@reddit
Uhhh if it’s a special occasion..?
grilledstuffed@reddit
Not a lady, but married to a lady.
Her pits are au naturel because she figured out that it drastically improved her B.O.
She still shaves her legs and puss at least once a week.
chocolatepig214@reddit
Every time I have a bath (2-3 times a week). Also pits and bits. Partly habit as I was a dancer for years and partly because I like having smooth legs! I looked into having laser to permanently remove the hair but I am very fair with red hair and apparently it doesn’t work well on that combo.
onions-make-me-cry@reddit
I have barely any leg hair, so I don't shave regularly
Kurigunde@reddit
I’m too lazy to shave all the time so I just get my legs waxed because the hair bothers me. So technically, yes, I do get rid of the hair on my legs.
MrsSamT82@reddit
I’m AuDHD, and I shave because hair is a huge sensory issue for me. I hate to feel the prickles inside clothing/in bed/etc
optimistlyricist@reddit
Yes cause I look too Much like my bro if I don’t. It’s a source of family hilarity and I don’t like to deal With their jokes.
depictionofmood@reddit
I only shave for the gynecology exam. I don't swim or go to the beach, and have not been in a relationship for many years, so I don't see a need to shave, even though it grows out very long and dark.
Pinkkorn69@reddit
I dont but I didnt even shave regularly when I was in my 20s. My hair is so fair and fine on my legs youd have to be up close and way too personal to see it lol I avoid shaving my pits but I get those waxed and I cant shave my bikini line.
Flat-While2521@reddit
My girlfriend is in her early 30’s, and she doesn’t shave anything. She’s not super hirsute, but her armpits, legs, etc. definitely remain unshaven.
I think she’s incredibly sexy either way.
church-basement-lady@reddit
During shorts/skirts weather I do, as I'm a very pale brunette. During the winter I'm pretty haphazard about it.
ladyvanderboom@reddit
My daughters made a comment about my needing to shave one day (they were 8), so I stopped shaving to prove that it’s all normal and no big deal to have body hair. I loved it, but also can’t stand not shaving in the spring/summer. Now, once the cooler weather hits, I let my leg hair and armpit hair grow out for the winter.
MiniRems@reddit
I stopped shaving when I began waxing over ten years ago. Then waxing became too expensive (even DIY) so I bought myself an epilator.
SissyWasHere@reddit
I shave. I haven’t heard that shaving is old fashioned. In fact I’ve seen millennials shaving EVERYTHING. including their arms.
Really-ok@reddit
My leg hair doesn't grow much anymore so I only shave once a week or so. Pits every other day.
caryn1477@reddit
Yes, but not as often. Unfortunately my leg hair is still thick and dark.
Far-Veterinarian6465@reddit
Once a week I shave. Maybe more in the summer.
Sufficient_Turn_9209@reddit
The world keeps turning. When we were teenagers/college age we stopped wearing panty hose. All the older women in my life were like, oh, why don't you wear panty hose? That's a beautiful dress, but with panty hose it would just look so much nicer and finished. Now I'm the older lady wondering why my daughter in law doesn't shave in the summer because smooth legs just look so much nicer, neat, and clean. 😏
gyrlonfilm6@reddit
I have lost most of my leg hair except for a stray two or three hairs. I let them get long then when I can't take it shave them.

I don’t shave my legs or pits but I do trim my bush. I have no idea what that says about me 🥲
dogtor_howl@reddit
I love how freshly shaved legs feel! I don’t care much about the pits or pubes unless I’m at the beach. One of the great things that has happened in my 40s is that my leg hair grows less quickly. In my 20s I shaved every single day and still felt stubbly. Now I shave like once or twice a week.
krissym99@reddit
Sometimes. The joys of being perimenopausal and being less hairy coupled with just caring a lot less. I was pretty hairy when I was younger and super self conscious about it, so I'd shave but also tried Hair, Veet, waxing. So glad I don't worry about that anymore. I do still shave my pits when it's hot out, though.
Designer-Bid-3155@reddit
Like 5x a year
Munchkin531@reddit
Oh I always shave. It feels weird if my legs are too hairy. Plus I love the feeling of my smooth legs on clean sheets. In the winter I might let it go for a few weeks but not in the summer. I don't think my husband cares either way but it matters to me.
My mom stopped shaving years ago. She also stopped wearing bras around me. I don't like it, but it's her body.
ConsciousChicken1249@reddit
My legs don’t grow hair on them very fast, but yes I do. If I don’t shave my pits I’m up shits creek without a paddle hygiene wise. If I don’t shave down there I get itchy from the hairs. Sorry, you asked lol
FethB@reddit
I’m a slacker about my leg hair outside of warm weather because it’s a hassle, but I do much prefer how my legs feel after shaving or epilating (it’s ADHD procrastination vs. autistic sensory avoidance😬). I do regularly shave my armpits but as long as I’m not wearing clothes that would reveal them, I wait until the hair is between an eighth and a quarter of an inch, which is really only a few days anyway.
thewolfwalker@reddit
I only shave when it gets long enough for a breeze to waft through it, which always makes me think there's a bug crawling on me. So 3-4 times a year in the summer, I guess!
Sea-Star8753@reddit
Legs and pits every day! I don't like the feeling of stubble but 100% a personal preference of course. Relationship or no relationship, everything gets shaved on the regular lol
Sea-Effort-5880@reddit
85 female. I shave as often as a leap year. It takes too much time and money. It's pricey enough to be a female. Not only in money but time as well. In my 20's i used it as a deterrent from creeps. lol just do the ole arm stretch. For some reason many people saw body hair as being a lesbian. But if i wanted to look nice I'd use opaque leggings.
melanyebaggins@reddit
I shave whenever it starts to bother me, and I can go months before that happens. I used to shave all the time and then gradually I just decided I didn't really care anymore and only do it now if it starts to irritate me or I'm just in the mood for smooth pits and legs. Same with crotch, I trim when it starts annoying me.
annaoceanus@reddit
I don’t only because I’ve had back surgery and I can’t do it anymore without aggravating things
Green-Factor-2526@reddit
Once a week in the summer. When I'm wearing a dress in the winter, which is rare since I live in the upper Midwest of the US and winters are cold
Queen_Of_InnisLear@reddit
I do but not as often. I live in skirts and dresses and tights, and if I'm going to wear sheer or fishnet I'll shave lol. And I guess I also do for my partner even though he says he doesn't care, but it feels nice.
But if I'm having a lazy week, so be it. I'm not fussed about it
guiltypleasures82@reddit
Nope. And no one cares at all, its great being middle aged.
TheIadyAmalthea@reddit
I’ll shave my legs if I’m going to be wearing a dress or shorts, which rarely happens. My leg hair is thick and black. Wish the hair on my head was as thick. My skin is very sensitive. If I shave more than once every couple of weeks, I get a rash. It doesn’t matter what razor or cream I use. I have tried exfoliating. I put lotion on every day, so I’m moisturized. It is what it is. I’m getting to that DGAF phase of life.
Elle_Duderino@reddit

80s_angel@reddit
I keep my armpits shaved all year but only shave my legs during the summer.
curmudgeonchief@reddit
when i was 20 i realized i could not see my leg hair when i was standing up (im 168cm) and have not shaved my legs since. unless you're a lot shorter than i am, my leg hair is not visible anywhere. though i am noticing it's getting longer somehow near the ankles, which is so odd.
i continued to shave my armpits most of the time and eventually did laser hair removal. I do prefer the look of less hair for myself, and without armpit hair i really don't get very smelly even when i sweat. that was money well spent.

For the most part, hair stopped growing on my legs a few years ago. Every couple of weeks, I take a couple of swipes with a razor at the one small spot that still grows because I like to wear skirts to the office.
Sensitive-Elevator1@reddit
After menopause (hysterectomy), all of my hair got thinner, including my legs. I was lazy about shaving to begin with, but once I realized how hard it is to even see the hair, I stopped. I do still shave my pits a couple times a week.

I'm in Seattle and shave underarms once a week, and legs every week or three. Currently on hiatus with legs until the mosquito welts from camping go down.
imaniluv1@reddit
I shave my pits regularly in the summer for hygiene purposes; less often in the winter. I’ll shave my legs in the summer or on vacation or for a partner when I find the situation calls for it.
There are fewer and fewer situations as I get older tho, go figure. Lol
GnarlyLeg@reddit
47m/48f I give zero fucks if my wife shaves her legs or anything else. I occasionally ask for a shower if she just went for a workout/run.
Jerkrollatex@reddit
I do if I'm going to wear a dress or skirt otherwise no.
SaveusJebus@reddit
Not as much as I used to. I did it every shower, but I think my legs are going bald which I'm definitely not mad about. I haven't had to shave above knee in years and seems like the hair loss has moved to below the knee too. I'll shave like once a week.
I've gotten lazy with my pits too. I'll do it like.. once every other week with the electric razor. Husband doesn't care and neither do I.
TheLowFlyingBirds@reddit
Maybe 5 times a year. I randomly decide to and then don’t for months. My husband could not care less.
MercyCriesHavoc@reddit
Nope. Only hair I remove now is facial hair. Husband is fine with it, told me soft hair is better than sharp stubble.
throwitlikethewind@reddit
I do. I have coarse leg hairs and it feels uncomfortable AF to have them grown out. I am lax about my armpits and can go months without shaving them unless I'm going to wear something sleeveless.
sticks_and_stoners@reddit

LongjumpingJaguar308@reddit
Enby AFAB queer person, haven't shaved in like 15 years, and mostly haven't for the last 25 years. Might run clippers over my legs if I'm swimming near my mom because she might complain. I guess I only shave for my mom.
Leg hair especially thinned out significantly until I startred testosterone for perimenopause and now its definitely thicker than ever. Might be on too much T 🤣
LongjumpingJaguar308@reddit
I might consider shaving if my gf and I both coordinated because I do kinda miss the shaved legs slidy feeling.
iridescentnightshade@reddit

junepath@reddit

Suitable-Brush-4467@reddit
Always in the summer, sporadically the rest of the year.
lecoqmako@reddit
I shave my legs before wearing shorts or a bathing suit, and would shave my legs for a fun night (in my dreams). I’m noticing in old age that I need to pluck more than I need to shave. Clean sheets and freshly shaven legs are still one of life’s greatest pleasures though.
What confuses and distresses me more is the current trend to shave vellus hairs, aka peach fuzz so make up looks better? As long as my self hatred helps a rich man fulfill his dreams of being richer, have at me!
star_b_nettor@reddit
I shave regularly, legs and pits. I've been doing it long enough I think it would feel strange to stop at this point.
Filbertine@reddit
I wax my legs (home kit) but haven’t touched my armpits since 1999. I tell myself it’s glamorous, and kind of French…but honestly that’s just my preference. I didn’t shave my legs for many years but recently got sick of the fur, just a few years ago (I’m in my mid-forties)
francie-potato@reddit
Only when I feel like it. I’m South Asian and was teased about the hair on my face, arms, and legs throughout elementary school, and grew really self conscious about it. Spent a lot of time and money (and experienced quite a bit of pain) trying to eliminate all traces in my teens and twenties. Now, in my 40s, I’m thrilled that younger women are normalizing visible hairiness!
Terrapin3641@reddit

FaeFollette@reddit
I prefer to shave, but finding the time is rough. I shave pits and legs once per week, or once very two weeks if I get bogged down with work.
shagbark_dryad@reddit
I can't be bothered to shave my legs. My husband doesn't care and since it's grown out it's soft. Before anyone gets going that he's lying, he'll actually spend time stroking them so different things for different people. If I feel like I'll feel more comfortable socially when wearing a dress or skirt for the rare occasion, I'll shave up only as far as I need to.
The pits spend the cold months growing out, and I tend to only shave them in the warm months so I don't feel damp.
People should do their own thing and everyone else should keep their opinions to themselves.
