Midnight Movies, yay or nay?

Absolutely yay for me. I stayed up late and saw a lot of awesome movies starting at midnight. Of course there was The Rocky Horror Picture Show, there was also The Song Remains the Same, The Wall, Tommy, Dune. These were old movies, even for then lol, so admission was cheap.
Anyway, I miss them. By "miss them", I am speaking more of a nostalgic "wouldn't that be nice", versus actually wanting to go. No way in hell I'm out of bed past midnight, lol.

Oh yeah, friends and I went to Rocky Horror every Saturday at midnight. Now I can't imagine having to be somewhere that late. Anything past 9 pm is rough on me lol

I miss being young enough to want to go to them.
I remember seeing Buckaroo Banzai as one of these. It seemed tailor-made to go directly to cult status.

My Dad took me to see my first R-rated movie, The Jerk, when it came out in the theater (thanks divorce guilt). It was the late showing and when we came out, there was a long line of people dressed up waiting to go in to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was my first time learning about the movie and I made sure to check it out as soon as possible. That took a few years until a buddy who hung out with older kids let me tag along to the midnight showing. Great Scott!

My favorite midnight movie back in the day was Return of the Living Dead in a theater full of college students. That was so fun.

Those were awesome. If they had them today, there would probably be shootings.

I occasionally do, few times a year I'd go - usually I think I'm the only person who's the oldest. I kinda miss watching old samurai films (which are essentially westerns) late and getting noodles with my dad. Fortunately with midnight showings some of the theaters makes it nostalgic and makes me feel comfie. Seeing that it's film and not a projected video adds happiness, especially hearing the film sprockets do their thing.
Nowadays it's eat a breakfast and passing out afterwards. Heck, late Halloween nights, I turn off the lights and listen to Orson Wells War of the World.

I miss the old (sometimes black and white) movies, late at night, for sure. Some would be mediocre, but I remember discovering Rear Window when I was too young to know about it, and that was great.
After missing them for a few years, I've now found a couple of YouTube channels that have pre code movies up - a few noir classics, etc. It's a pretty handy replacement.

Went to RHPS quite a few times. Never got into any of the other midnight movies, though.

my daughter is interning at the local non-profit theater in town. Late nights are what they call "Weird Elephant"; cult films, trivia, all that sort of stuff. This month they are running Trainspotting, Dazed and Confused, and Polyester in Odorama!

Don’t forget Reefer Madness.

We had a sweet theater near me. They would show heavy metal and rocky horror at midnight on Saturday. We would switch off which one we want to each weekend. I miss that so much.
