2011 lexus es350 with 184k on it.
It needs new outer and inner tie rods, control arms, sway bar links, strut and coil assembly for 4 wheels, and CV axles. Buying all of this will cost me around $950. Plus the alignment after all this work which will be around $100.
I'll be changing everything myself at home.
Now the question is, is it worth it?
My only concern is that after doing all of this, something big like the transmission or the engine would give up, since it has many miles on it. After spending all this money, I won't be able to fix something big as transmission of it fails. And if I sell the car like this, It won't sell for a good amount that would be enough to buy another one.

My “rule-of-thumb” on questions like this: look up the wholesale (aka trade-in) value of the car on NADA website. If the cost is equal to or greater than the value of the car , I suggest bailing on it.

$1000 of predictable regular maintenance every ten to fifteen years shouldn’t be a big decision. It should be built into your planning.

Yes, you're 100% right but I'm a student who's paying out of state community college tuition, out of pocket, by himself.
And I got the car 5 months ago because I needed a car.

Word of advice. Next time get a pre-/post-purchase inspection. Five months isn’t a long time and those repairs may have been identified for you then.

I am in the same situation with my wife’s Acura MDX, but double the cost of parts. About 23k miles away from a second timing chain job too….

Shiii, tough situation we are in.

As you're doing all the work yourself and it's a Lexus, yes, absolutely.
There's always the chance the tranny or engine can blow, but that's like 2 months worth of car payments to get your suspension back to factory. Very worth it!

Average car payment is like $800 these days.
Yes it's worth $1000 to fix your car.

Yeah it might go out, but if it only lasts a year you have a car that’s less than $100 a month.

Yes, your car is falling apart underneath.
