I wonder how long Polestar and Smart have left, they are both in similar positions of being owned by Geely (which wants to start bringing their own models to Europe) and while Smart/Polestar make good products there just isn’t a market for them sales have been extremely low and they need big discounts to move units with most of them ending in fleets at one point Geely will choose to focus on its own brand which with its more economical approach has a higher chance of success.
Also now with the tariffs all the Chinese made cars (like the Polestar 5) are unviable in America and in Europe they have lost a huge part of their price advantages. In Polestar case I doubt the 5 or the 6 (Roadster) will save it because they aren’t the type of cars that sell while Smart might be able to have a decent hit with the #2 which is a return to the original Smart

No cars have soul, they're cars. Luddites scared of losing their broom broom noises

Color selection is awful.

~~Color~~ Grayscale selection is awful.

The interior is such a downside to such a gorgeous sedan.
Literally just looks like an IPhone is attached behind the steering wheel, and then a larger IPad placed as the infotainment.

The landscape screen from the Polestar 4 is much better. Portrait is dumb.

This car costs more than $100K. I sure hope it drives well. But also, I am tired of car news relating to something 1% of people can buy or own. Car makers seem to have basically quit on trying to make cars for normal people that are interesting or fun.

I'm not going to get excited about EVs again until we get a Miata or at least GTI equivalent in the states.
lurpeli@reddit
I'm glad I got an EV, due to the gas prices, but yeah I'm basically waiting for the electric GTI. The Miata, by all accounts, isn't going electric unfortunately.
BeerorCoffee@reddit
An EV6 is basically an awd gti.

It's Taycan money... The Polestar 5 looks pretty good, but the Taycan is, IMHO, the best looking EV on the market... and it has the badge...
odelay42@reddit
The taycan sport turismo is the only car I regret not being rich enough to afford.
reward72@reddit
As far as we are talking EVs, yes, same here.
gordonnowak@reddit
it's always been that way with car news. why do you think Top Gear made it a running gag to test normal cars. no one cares.

I have a 500e. It’s interesting and fun. Sure it has shitty range but it’s a great city car that’s zippy, easy to park and always puts a smile on my face when I get behind the wheel.
DetroitLionsEh@reddit
Yeah, they realized they can make good profit with smaller sales numbers during Covid
The real question is if they can still do that with a used car market that’s cheaper.
I hope they can’t
Bloated_Plaid@reddit
Literally zero reason to buy this when used Taycan exist.
StrongOnline007@reddit
Looks mostly good. No rearview window is dumb and would probably push me to something else. Range and charging feel somewhat last-gen

I love the exterior design on this thing, it almost reminds me of a more angular A7. It’s a shame they went full Tesla on the interior with the piano black trim and a giant iPad in the center stack.
muduke@reddit
That reminds me of the very famous and well remembered quote from Transformers: Age of Extinction:
Optimus Prime: "You have no soul!"
Galvatron: "That is why I have no fear!"
