Bank of America rewards category / Nebraska Furniture Mart

Hoping someone can help -- I want to use my Bank of America customized cash rewards card to buy some furniture from NFM. Wanted to make sure the store falls under the "Home Improvement & Furnishings" category for Bank of America so I may get the 3% cash back. Can anyone with experience please confirm?
Thanks.

It does. We used it a few years ago.

Go buy something small and see what reward % you get. BOA doesn’t control that. NFM does. It all depends on what NFM uses as a merchant ID and how they code purchases. The bank can’t/wont tell you nor will NFM.
I work in the credit industry and answer this daily.

Thanks for clarifying. Why would they keep something like this so mysterious? Just makes no sense... If NFM codes if they should be more then happy to share it with customers who ask.

Buy something in a similar category as what your larger purchase will be. See what you get. Return that and buy the big stuff.
You could always call NFM customer service and see what they will tell you though. Sometimes retailers will share that info and sometimes they won’t.

It really boils down to there is just too much information to keep clear and how they run accounting. For example. Wal-Mart may use 20+ merchant id’s in one location. Auto, fuel, groceries, home, etc. most consumers never care or notice. It’s just too much info to publish and it changes constantly.
