the app knows what area you are in a wont allow you past what local laws allow, this is why I went with a fold 1 plus its still old enough to not restrict under 28 on throttle alone, I never use it like an emotto but its cool to have it be able to do that.

there are 3 legal classes:
class 1, pedal assist only up to 20
class 2, throttle up to 20
class 3, pedal assist only up to 28
if you're expecting throttle past 20, it isn't legally an ebike

I have to go through a long road with no bike lane. Want to get off it asap
SignificantBerry8591@reddit
Did you unlock it?

Tried all the options on app and menu still doesn't go up to 28mph. Idk I think it the cadence option and I need to switch back to throttle
SignificantBerry8591@reddit
So the throttle won’t go above the max mode, like boost or trail

I should add I have a nomad 2x so I’m familiar with the menu

Pedal harder

I think you need to manually unlock in via the app. Aventon does the same

According to their FAQ:
If you look at the original class definitions the federal government came up with to regulate ebikes on federal land, Class 3 is pedal assist only. Thirty-six states base their laws on these class definitions, but they aren't obligated to implement them exactly as the federal agencies have. Most states allow a kind of hybrid of classes 2 and 3 where you can have a throttle to 20MPH and still have pedal assist up to 28MPH. California explicitly does not. I thought Oregon also had that restriction, but maybe I'm mistaken on that.

Go into the menu, and settings, and make sure you increased the speed limits.

First thing you should do, it can be done on both the phone app and the menu
