Is the gt73 street legal?

If I were to limit the speed to 750 watts and 28 mph would I be able to use it on sidewalks? I live in north Vancouver and would use it for trips to school and back.
whattteva@reddit
I can't tell if this is trolling or not because asking if 750W, 28 mph is fine on the sidewalk is like asking if it's fine to drive a car in the bike lane.
Specialist_Event_129@reddit
let me enlighten you quickly unless your from Europe 750w is fine and 28mph is a class 3 e-bike
whattteva@reddit
No... It is NOT fine. He said specifically "sidewalk". You ride 28 mph on the sidewalk?
Specialist_Event_129@reddit
See 20mph on sidewalk is fine and 28mph on the side of the road is also fine and if you put your deadbeat brain together you’ll see this “I obv would not got 28 mph on a sidewalk”
MrBensonhurst@reddit
Not legally in most North American cities, and not with anyone who has a functioning brain.
bradland@reddit
Vancouver, WA or Vancouver, BC? I'm assuming WA since you said mph.
If the bike is rated 750W and limited to 28 mph with no throttle, that would make it a class 3 e-bike. Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited on sidewalks, except where there are no safe alternatives.
Note that the bike cannot have a throttle, or it is a "grey area" e-bike, and can be impounded.

The sidewalk on the left Is what I would need to use
Big_Red_Checkmark@reddit
Wow that is a terrifyingly busy road lol. Use the effing street with your e-moped
Ok-Crow8768@reddit (OP)
It’s not that, that street currently and most of the time has construction so using the sidewalk saves me time
Specialist_Event_129@reddit
so don’t use it use the center of the road
CatDadof2@reddit
Why would you ride a bike at 28 mph on a sidewalk? That is dangerous. You could easily hurt someone, or yourself. Ride on the side of the road if you are going to go 28 mph. Please.
Ok-Crow8768@reddit (OP)
Well I wouldn’t be going that fast obv, I would be like 10-12 mph its just some sections on my trip to school are quicker on the sidewalk
HistorianAlert9986@reddit
You definitely shouldn’t ride a bike on a sidewalk, but if you do because for some reason, you have to slow down to the speed of people walking.
SSalloSS@reddit
Vancouver is absolutely not in the US lol. If he needs to briefly use the sidewalk, as long as he slows down and doesn't blast through, I see no issue - it's all about being courteous
dananapatman@reddit
Why not Vancouver, Washington?
SSalloSS@reddit
Nobody is referring to Vancouver Washington as "North Vancouver" 😭
HistorianAlert9986@reddit
Is miles per hour a standard measurement of distance in Canada?
Specialist_Event_129@reddit
Yes would be legal but check for speed limits even though and make sure your actually limiting the out of the watts. also if your going 28mph do it on the road never go over 20 on the sidewalk enjoy
Zentransit@reddit
How old are you?
Ok-Crow8768@reddit (OP)
16
SSalloSS@reddit
Bikes belong in the bike lane, not the sidewalk
Temporary-Film-7374@reddit
28mph on a sidewalk is asking to die
even half that is seriously fast given typical sidewalk sight lines
vivaaprimavera@reddit
That's the best case scenario.
It's too easy to kill someone doing that kind of stunt.
RichGuarantee7482@reddit
definitely street legal in eco and std mode. It's also funny they call it STD.
celeste_ferret@reddit
Not street legal in Canada.
Aww8@reddit

gba_sg1@reddit
