What is your guilty pleasure film?

Mine is the jump street films. In particular 22 jump street. The Schmidt fucked the captains daughter scene.
Yeh they're crap, yeh they're cheesy, but I can watch them over an over and not be bored.
I'm not talking good films you can legitimately rewatch, I'm talking ones that if you said to friends/family, they'd look at you like you're crazy.

It's weirdly such a comfort film for me even though it's fucking ridiculous lol
ElectronicCoat5521@reddit
Forgot how bad the first 10 mins is when I got my partner to watch it. Thought he was going to abandon it but made it through and he loved it š
sunflowershan99@reddit
The Grinch lmfao. I literally love him

Amazing movie!

Sex drive or Euro Trip.
Just cheesy American teen comedy.
Totally predictable plot with countless holes but can watch it with very little thought

It's wacky, it's camp as hell, it makes zero sense, it's every 2000s stereotype in a bottle. I love it.

A bit too cringe for me personally. Loved the film in my younger days.

So, Snakes on a Plane was the big meme movie the year I left school. Myself and a lot of friends went to see it just because of how ridiculous the build up was. It actually was better than it had any right to be š

American pie 2, for the soundtrack

Twilight, as much as I laugh at the ridiculousness of the first film and find it to be a perfect watch when drunk, it's also the perfect autumn watch during a heavy downpour of rain under a blanket. Definitely very comforting, but also I am well aware how silly it is.
amboandy@reddit
Same, my wife detests the saga and I only like it because it's almost farcical but I revisit it ever year

maersyl@reddit
My wife and I watch the entire series every year as part of our Halloween movies.
We spend the entire time just howling but, deep down, weāre loving it.
JetMeIn_02@reddit
This is the way to enjoy it! Sure I'm laughing when I show friends it, but I'm also quoting every single line because I used to be OBSESSED as a kid.
maersyl@reddit
We have a little drinking game with it - every time Bella does some odd mouth thing or tucks her hair back just gets us absolutely fucked.
JetMeIn_02@reddit
Oh god I'm surprised you haven't ended up in hospital!!! I've been meaning to do a twilight drinking game but I'm not very good at following the rules. Also I'd be drinking extra when I get thirsty, so I'd probably end up in a coma.
maersyl@reddit
Donāt do it! Or do⦠we have drink every time:
Bella does some mouth thing.
Bella tucks her hair back.
The word vampire is said.
A vampire gets all sparkly.
Someone turns into a wolf / not a wolf.
Finish your drink when Michael Sheen does his crazy laugh thing.
Itās raining.

Tried to rewatch these recently, first time since they came out pretty much. Made it to halfway through the third and just couldn't any more.
JetMeIn_02@reddit
I can't blame you tbh, Eclipse is probably the least enjoyable one on either a comedy or serious level. Breaking Dawn drags me back though with how funny Part 2 is.
Sushi_pyjamas6541@reddit
Twilight has aged from a fantasy/romance movie into a comedy. Absolutley love it.
JetMeIn_02@reddit
Nah I still enjoy it on the fantasy/romance level a fair bit! ...But same on fancying Charlie now < 3

The 'Carry on xxxx' series from the 60/70s
decentlyfair@reddit
Mine too. It is possibly a nostalgia thing for me but I love the nonsense of it all.
HullIsNotThatBad@reddit
I'm 64 and have been watching them since I was a young teen. I know all the gags and what's coming next, but it doesn't matter a jot - I still laugh and giggle like a schoolkid. Smutty, corny and purile and I love it!
decentlyfair@reddit
I am a couple of years younger than you but i think our love of them comes from growing up with them. I remember as a kid being really excited when I saw there was a Carry On film on the TV. Utter nonsense but I love them (most of them). I think my favourite is Carry on Camping.
HullIsNotThatBad@reddit
I think you've hit the nail on the head regarding the nostalgia part; however, I got my kids into them too, and they a product of the early 90s!

ShufflingToGlory@reddit
I must have terrible taste in films because this entire comment section is basically all my favourites. Banger after banger.
My main guilty pleasure is the variations of what became the "American Pie" genre. The optimism of coming of age (normally in a well heeled, oddly glamorous American suburb or college setting) hit me at just the right time. 25 years ago now, give or take.
But going even further back films like Animal House, Dazed and Confused, Ferris Bueller and Caddyshack all hit that nostalgic note for me.
StatusHabit7622@reddit
Alien vs Predator I know itās terrible, I love it. That and Doom. Yes, I know thatās also terrible.
Content-Tip1048@reddit
Mine is White Chicks. I know it's not exactly a masterpiece, but if it's on TV, I'm watching it. No matter how many times I've seen it, it still makes me laugh

Iām male. Put a āchick flickā in front of me and I am THERE.
Devil Wears Prada. Stanley Tucci⦠horrrrr what a guy. Emily Blunt. Yes. Anne Hathaway. Hell yes. Meryl Streep. Aww yisss.
Princess Diaries. Fucking Julie Andrews?! Yes mate. Anne Hathaway again?!
Mean Girls. Fetch. So fetch. Too gay to function.
10 Things I Hate About You. Okay letās go.
Bridget Jonesā Diary.Ā
The Holiday.
Bridesmaids. Dirty Dancing. Cats. Pretty Woman. Cruel Intentions. Titanic. Notting Hill. Maid in Manhattan.
Honestly, as a hetero guy, chick flicks are just brilliant.
Admittedly, and this is a huge not even slightly humble brag, my wife is often told by people she looks like Anne Hathaway. Iām not complaining.

Probably because most people never saw it, we just saw Will Smith slap Chris Rock over a GI Jane joke.

Saw.
If you say youāre a Saw fan to some new people, you get one of two reactions: the first is a response of agreement that the movies are good OR a response that you must be an evil, sick, twisted future serial killer. Thatās why itās a guilty pleasure.
āSawā is so fun and watching the series is a wild silly ride. You start with the best movie of the series with a perfect ending to the first film. You next watch 2 and 3 that are the other great movies in the series. It all goes ridiculously downhill from there (6 and X are decent) but itās so fun to watch. It turns into a camp daytime police drama with outlandish, brutal traps and homoerotic tension throughout. I saw the musical of āSawā in New York and that was so fun.

Jaws is a great film.
Taken is good or at least very entertaining.

Tango and Cash.
Awkward action, ridiculous bad guys, boobies, quotes that stay with you; the meaning of FUBAR and how live electric cables probably won't kill you if you're not grounded and only touch 1 of them.
Broken Arrow.
For many of the same reasons but without boobies and Travolta is a great villain. "I say God damn what a rush!"
