I wonder if this could be legally done? Have a brick and mortar location to get the FFL then drive around selling guns out of a truck with 4473 checks being done using a cell phone.
To my way of thinking, it is not too different from a gun shop that also sells at gun shows. The background checks are still performed but just at a different location from the FFL address.
It would be awesome to have a business named "Gun Runner" and a vanity plate: GUNRNR.

A_plural_singularity@reddit
Yes they can it's called an amendment.
Seared_Gibets@reddit
Actually no.
The original 10 are inalienable. They are quite literally stated to be inalienable rights. They cannot be removed, neither can they be surrendered.
They are recognized as inherent to all people, not granted by the Gov because "we like these ideas for now."
You can add more past the Tenth, you can remove or alter the ones you added, but the original 10 are inalienable.
No, you can't remove the 2nd anymore than the 1st or 10th.
2017hayden@reddit
If they actually had the support for that they would have done it a long time ago.
A_plural_singularity@reddit
You're missing the point. It can be changed. It was even in the original Constitution. It was an AMENDMENT! People forget that piece of information. The Constitution was altered with the second amendment. Which is fine but it doesn't mean it's not infallible. It can be changed. People who don't think it can are so dense they could power the Planet Express ship.
PacoBedejo@reddit
It's still a natural right and we're armed.
Accurate_Reporter252@reddit
Ironically, the right to bear arms existed as British law prior to the American Revolution and was already in colony charters as well.
Having to point this out to people who were supposed to be the government after using the same arms to fight and defeat the previous government after ancestors of the colonists used the same arms to fight and defeat the previous (British) government might have come across as... say... pedantic and not particularly necessary at first.
However, they did tell the new government to leave it alone anyway.
Fickle_Panic8649@reddit
Even IF they amended it, most will NOT surrender their guns. Then what?
2017hayden@reddit
No you’re arguing something I never said. The second amendment isn’t part of the constitution at all, it’s part of the bill of rights a separate document written two years after the constitution was. I never said the constitution couldn’t be changed nor did I say it was infallible, you’re arguing against a claim I never made. The constitution at its core is a living document, it’s in its nature to be changed. Anyone that has a basic grasp on constitutional law knows this. The founders not only made a way for the constitution to be changed but they in fact thought it might be entirely rewritten every decade or two. The fact is it’s never happened though, at least not to the extent they expected. Yeah we’ve written amendments (only 17 since the bill of rights) but very rarely. There haven’t been any sweeping changes to the constitution and it hasn’t changed at all since 1992 when the 27th amendment was passed. After the bill of rights the amendments have been largely minor changes and clarifications though there are some exceptions to that. The only amendment to ever be repealed was the 18th (prohibition). So yeah if you can get people to hate guns as much as they love alcohol you might be able to repeal/rewrite/replace the 2nd amendment, until such a time as that occurs I’ll say again the second amendment means the government can’t do shit about our guns.

After incident with someone with a weapon showing up at work location my prior employee had some trainers with security training company come in for mandatory training. Best course of action is for those in building to leave the building if they can do so. Only if you cannot get out do you take shelter in a room. At that point you make plan to have multiple people volunteer to risk their lives to take out the shooter if they enter. You don't have everyone hide under desks and tables. Use whatever objects you can to protect yourself if the shooter enters. But best option is escape. I would much rather be able to defend myself with a firearm than hope 3 or more young, strong men are in the room who offer to hit the shooter with whatever objects they have access to in the office or conference or classroom such as a fire extinguisher.

Octothorperater@reddit
Ok, off the top of your head, tell me the steps to legally buy a pistol in New York and how long it takes. Since it’s in general. While you’re at it, tell me what you have to do to obtain any firearm in the US, the steps it takes to get a suppressor, sbr, or full auto. Since you know so much about them.
MariannoOderSo@reddit
Here's a general overview of how one might legally buy a firearm in New York:
Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements. In New York, you generally need to be at least 21 years old to purchase a handgun and at least 18 years old for a long gun (shotgun or rifle). You must not have a felony conviction or certain other disqualifying factors, such as certain mental health conditions or orders of protection against you.
Obtain a Permit: For handguns, you typically need to apply for a handgun license from your county's licensing authority. Different counties may have variations in their application processes, so it's essential to check with your local authorities for specific requirements. For long guns, you typically do not need a license but must pass a background check.
Background Check: Regardless of the type of firearm you're purchasing, a background check will be conducted through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to verify your eligibility. This is usually done by the licensed firearms dealer at the time of purchase.
Waiting Period: In New York, there may be a waiting period between the time you apply for a handgun license and when you can purchase the firearm. This waiting period varies by county.
Safety Course: Many counties in New York require handgun license applicants to complete a firearm safety course before approval.
Purchase: Once you've obtained the necessary permits and passed the background check, you can legally purchase a firearm from a licensed firearms dealer. Be prepared to provide identification and fill out the required paperwork.
Registration: Handguns in New York must be registered with the state. Long guns do not require registration.
Storage and Transport: Familiarize yourself with New York's laws on firearm storage and transportation, as they have specific requirements.
Restrictions: Be aware of New York's restrictions on magazine capacity, assault weapons, and other specific regulations, which can vary within the state.
Compliance with Local Laws: Some cities and counties within New York may have additional restrictions and regulations, so it's crucial to be aware of local ordinances.
And now, a few reasons why this is problematic.
One argument against the perceived weaknesses in New York's firearm laws is the issue of inter-state gun trafficking. While New York has relatively strict firearm regulations, neighboring states may have less stringent laws. This creates a situation where individuals can legally purchase firearms in nearby states and then transport them into New York, often ending up in the hands of those who might not pass New York's background checks or meet its eligibility criteria.
This disparity in gun laws between states highlights the need for stronger federal regulations to prevent firearms from flowing too easily across state lines. Advocates for stricter gun control argue that a comprehensive and uniform set of federal laws would help reduce the influx of firearms into states with stricter regulations, like New York, and ultimately contribute to enhanced public safety.
Additionally, proponents of stronger firearm regulations argue that a stricter approach could help reduce the overall prevalence of firearms, particularly in urban areas, which could lead to a decrease in gun-related crimes and accidents. They contend that this approach would prioritize the safety of communities and individuals over easy access to firearms, addressing concerns about the potential misuse of firearms.
MariannoOderSo@reddit
In the United States, obtaining permission to own a firearm accessory like a suppressor involves navigating federal and often state-specific regulations:
Paperwork: Complete ATF Form 4 or Form 1, depending on whether you are purchasing a pre-manufactured suppressor (Form 4) or making your own (Form 1). These forms require detailed information about the firearm, including its serial number and characteristics.
State Requirements:
Check your state's specific laws regarding suppressors. Some states have additional restrictions or outright bans on them, while others allow their use without much regulation.
Purchase Process:
Purchase the suppressor through the dealer. They will assist with the necessary paperwork and submit your application to the ATF.
Wait for Approval:
ATF processing times can vary, but it often takes several months for your application to be approved.
Transfer:
Once approved, you can take possession of your suppressor from the dealer.
Storage and Use:
And here, once again, a few arguments against it:
There are several arguments that can be made for why firearm suppressor laws in the United States are perceived by some as too lenient or why some argue that private individuals should not possess them:
Public Safety Concerns: Critics argue that suppressors can potentially hinder the early detection of gunfire in public places, making it more challenging for law enforcement and the public to respond to active shooter situations swiftly. This delay in response time can have severe consequences in terms of casualties.
Increased Criminal Activity: Some argue that suppressors could be more appealing to criminals, as they can muffle the sound of gunfire and potentially aid in committing crimes discreetly. This concern revolves around the idea that easier access to suppressors might facilitate illegal activities.
Accident Risks: Opponents of private suppressor ownership argue that accidents involving firearms become more dangerous when suppressors are involved. Reduced noise can make it harder for bystanders or individuals nearby to recognize and react to accidental discharges.
Erosion of Gun Control: Critics contend that relaxing regulations on suppressors might set a precedent for the erosion of gun control measures in the future. They worry that making suppressors more accessible could be part of a broader trend toward loosening gun laws, potentially leading to unintended consequences.
Impact on Hunting Ethics: In the context of hunting, some argue that the use of suppressors might disrupt traditional hunting ethics, as the sound of gunfire serves as a safety mechanism, alerting other hunters and wildlife to the presence of firearms in the area.
Law Enforcement Concerns: Law enforcement agencies may express concerns about the increased prevalence of suppressors, as they could make their job more challenging by hindering situational awareness during incidents involving firearms.
It's important to note that the debate over suppressor ownership involves varying perspectives, with proponents arguing that suppressors can protect hearing and reduce noise pollution in shooting sports. However, opponents emphasize the potential safety and security risks associated with their widespread use. Ultimately, the balance between individual rights and public safety remains a central issue in this debate.
MariannoOderSo@reddit
Are you happy now?
Octothorperater@reddit
I said off the top of your head. It’s obvious you looked up “how to buy gun in america” and “why are Americas too weak” and copy and pasted it. Otherwise you wouldn’t switch between bullet points and coulons, and format it that way. There’s a difference between having knowledge on a topic, and being able to plagiarize. Reading and understanding don’t seem to be your strong points.
MariannoOderSo@reddit
First of all, I did copy something, namely my basic arguments that I set out here, but these are formulated in German just like the rest of my transcripts and translated with the help of Google Translate, I hope that explains the same for you.
Besides, I'm amused that you talk about "knowing a subject" while at the same time assuming that informative knowledge about firearms entitles you to assess their impact on social and economic structures.
antariusz@reddit

Recently a guy shot a mugger in self defense(nyc) and because his pistol was slightly illegal they raided his house and found his other guns that would be legal in almost any other state, and they wanna put him in prison for life.

There was a bill for nyc (not sure where it went, don’t care) saying that for “assault weapon ammo” you could only purchase twice the magazine capacity over a period of 120 days. And legal limit for nyc is either 5 or 10 rounds lol.
2017hayden@reddit
The US has more than 20,000 federal laws covering restrictions on firearms ownership, use, design, sales etc. if 20,000 laws isn’t enough regulation then nothing is and they either need to sack up and say the quiet pet out loud (they want to take the guns) or they need to shut the fuck up and stop wasting everyone’s time.
Random_User_1337_@reddit
On one hand, everyone being armed would seem like an amazing idea (eg; if someone tries anything everybody has the means to retaliate, so nobody would dare to start a gunfight involving everyone around you.), but there’s a chance things could (emphasis on “could”) get worse. Everyone killing each other left and right. If ABSOLUTELY nobody’s armed nobody dies (ideally), but if there’s even a couple folks who ARE, things could get messy (not very many people could defend themselves in this specific scenario unless armed and only about 5 out of 100 are, and all 5 are killing everyone else). There’s no single solution to this since there’s always someone that doesn’t agree with the other, meaning there isn’t a way to make everyone happy without someone saying “There’s too many guns!” or “There’s too few guns!” But that’s my 2 cents. Feel free to (respectfully) disagree or agree. :/
Pitiful_Confusion622@reddit (OP)
Problem is you'd never get absolutely nobody armed. Even if all us gun owners turned in our guns that still leaves cops and criminals armed.

That's sickening and shows that the people stating such things don't care about the lives of those affected by the deaths.
Anyone who is serious about keeping people, especially children, safe in an educational environment would advocate for deterrents that comply with the Gun Free School Zone Act.
Those deterrents can be as simple as requiring a badge to enter the front door and all the doors leading outside to be closed during the school day.

At least there are some Gen Z, even in this thread, that are against this bs
Pew_Pew_Lookout@reddit
Zero gun control?! You have to take a fucking course and submit fingerprints to get a carry license in NC. This is why it's frustrating to debate guns because one side is full of emotion and ignorance.
But this is also very telling of how little gun grabbers gaf about root problems in this country. A few months ago two college students had commit suicide in a span of 24 hours. If there was EVER evidence that mental health needs to be addressed in this country, among the youth specifically, 2023 was it. But as usual, let no tragedy go to waste. Somebody who was evidently in need of help snaps and the only conclusion they can arrive at is 'guns/ar15s bad'. It's annoying. Because at this point you know they see it too but they just cant stop beating this ineffective drum because of political tribalism.
JoltyJob@reddit
“Zero gun laws” is crazy
FollowMyReality@reddit
They can have ALL the gun laws in the world, explain what the hell does that mean to a criminal or a person with bad intentions? You know, people that don't obey laws?
They ban class A drugs....yet they still exist, still sold on the street and people still use and abuse them....because people do shit. Regardless of laws or rules or whatever.

dirtysock47@reddit
I went to elementary school in the mid 2000's. They never did this "active shooter drill" crap. They only started that fear porn when Sandy Hook happened.
Abolish ALICE training. All it does is brainwash children into hating the Second Amendment and fearing guns and gun owners. It's absolutely possible to have intruder drills without the over the top realism that's happening nowadays.
kamon123@reddit
I graduated in 09 and we had these drills from jr. high to highschool. Wasn't just for active shooters it was for "violent individual/s have come on to the school property"
dirtysock47@reddit
Yup, that's more or less what they said when I did it as well.
antariusz@reddit
You know what has never once stopped any school shooter ever? Hiding in a corner with the lights off. It’s been proven to… not stop a school shooter.
GhilliesInTheCyst@reddit
You can't just abolish training because it makes guns look scary
School shootings are a reality in this country and students need to be trained for it
dirtysock47@reddit
But we can when it gives children unnecessary trauma and they don't make that much of a difference anyways since a lot of the shooters are students who also are subject to the drills.
It absolutely is possible to train children for when a potential intruder comes on the school campus without scaring the absolute shit out of children. I did it, lots of other older Gen Z/Millennials did it, so we know it's possible. The purpose of ALICE training isn't to prepare children for a potential shooter, it's to scare the shit out of them and use that fear to brainwash them into hating guns and gun owners. And it's working.
I'm positive you're trolling at this point. No, absolutely not, all of those things are the jobs of the adults and first responders.
GhilliesInTheCyst@reddit
Uh huh, and how did that work in Uvalde?
dirtysock47@reddit
The cops at Uvalde & Parkland failed those kids, and absolutely nothing is going to happen to them because they aren't legally obligated to protect citizens (Warren v. DC, Deshaney v. Winnebago, Lozito v. NYC, Gonzales v. Castle Rock). A cop could literally watch children get massacred in a school and do nothing, and they will be immune from both criminal and civil liability because of those four rulings.
That's why I said adults and first responders, not cops.
SniperInCherno@reddit
A cop will be immune to civil and criminal liability. They will not be immune to what I will do to them however, if my child or family member is killed due to their lack of action.
I said what I said
hitemlow@reddit
Literally just dress it up like a game of hide-and-seek. If the principal spots or hears you, you get detention. Same effect, way less traumatizing.
dirtysock47@reddit
I was a bit older when they started doing the lockdown drills (4th/5th grade), so they basically said "cover the windows, lock the doors, and sit in a corner for 15 minutes while the principal goes around and checks. This is for when an intruder comes onto the school campus". They didn't simulate an actual school shooting like what ALICE training does now.
And kids aren't stupid. They'll understand what it's for, because me and my entire class did (although I thought it was for robbers, not necessarily school shooters).

Ok that post is dumb but if we can’t see the gen z numerical data backlash… everything hut wheel guns and bolt actions will be classified as assault bazookas, and banned. If education and data isn’t embraced and the only popular voices are highly misinformed gun grabbers vs gun nut, “there shouldn’t be any regulation” types. We will lose everything. I for one am for common sense laws, that consider firearms owners rights just as well as kids collective safety to keep the ability to regulate and buy cool stuff. I love my p90. They will ban everything like this if they get their way. The arguments currently set forth leads me to believe this fight will be an easy win for them on not too many election cycles. In 77 fully 1/ 2 of the student body at my high school, of about 1400, on any given day, a look inside any vehicle on campus you would find a loaded shotgun or long gun inside. The racial make being about 60/40 white to black. During my 2 years there, the most violence we encountered was a couple of fist fights. What's changed, except more single parent homes (dad replaced by Xbox-Playstation), God has been removed from the school. Criminal behavior is now condoned by municipalities attempting to appease all the shit-stirrers out there. Teachers have been indoctrinated by the NEA to focus instruction more on social bs than providing a real education. That 6 # piece of steel is not the problem.

They have to have us afraid of something to control our thinking on everything. They found this out with the Cold War and nuke attack drills. Not wierd at all. Absolutely tragic but not all wierd.
Most of these kids, and I use that term because while they are of the age of majority they have yet to reach mental and emotional maturity, have never been taught to be independent and self sufficient. They have been taught to look to others for answers and protection and that when troubles arise it is more important to talk about on line. So that is what they are doing.
For many of them the thought of defending themself likely never crossed their mind and for those that did it was in a passive "why isn't someone going to protect me!" mindset. Truly a tragic failing of their families, especially their fathers, and then their communities to instil an action oriented problem solving mindset in these people from an early age.

Biden: kids shouldn’t have to practice duck and cover in schools.
Also Biden: has fond memories of practicing duck and cover in school during the Cold War, to the point where he wants us all to live under the fear of nuclear holocaust by INSISTING that this proxy war isn’t his doing whatsoever.
LightSpeedAutism@reddit
The proxy war is definitely Putin’s doing. He has a pattern of starting wars under false pretenses and it’s how he came to power in 1999, and boosted his popularity in 2008 & 2014.
I’m not a fan of nearly anything that Biden does, but it’s disingenuous to blame him for something that would have happened no matter who was in office.
The only presidency that caused this war was that of Petro Poroshenko, and the only one that could have prevented it is Viktor Yanukovych, but that would have been against the will of the people and is like saying that Lukashenko is the only reason Belarus isn’t being invaded right now. At some point you have to admit Russia is an aggressor.
udmh-nto@reddit
You can admit Russia is an aggressor, yet still think that the proxy war is US' doing.
ParticularIndvdual@reddit
Nuance, the other n-word not allowed on Reddit. I do agree that Russia overplayed their hand (in any metric), but come on. Day after day, Ukrainian men, funded by the west, are constantly going off on a march to doom in a war of attrition against a foe with much more resources then they have, while families that just had their lives destroyed (if not lost) to one of Americas worst disasters get peanuts, you have to ask yourself “do we share some of the blame here”? (and the answer should be yes, otherwise you’re just a yankee vatnik, which is pretty whack)
LightSpeedAutism@reddit
Yes, and they as a nation broadly support continuing the fight because the alternative is annihilation. Both geostrategically and morally, it makes sense to spend 3% of our military budget to significantly reduce the fighting capability of our historical enemy, while also giving a nation the means to fend off a country that wishes to commit genocide against them again, most likely completing the job this time.
What we’ve done in the Middle East is inexcusable, we invaded Iraq for no reason. That resulted in 120,000 to a million civilians dead and turned the region into a basket case. (sound familiar?) At the same time we spent 20 years trying to force a backwater nation into westernizing, then gave up and abandoned the people that helped us to be brutally murdered. At the beginning of 2022 there was little to no sign that anything would be done to aid these people.
I’m well aware of our moral failures as a nation, but aiding Ukraine isn’t one of them.

Teacher here: Even if they did overturn the second amendment, we wouldn’t stop doing lockdown drills because they’re used any time student safety is threatened. It could be a totally unarmed person walking into the school — if we don’t know who they are, or why they’re there, you bet we’re making sure every kid is behind a closed, locked door.
My current school sits on a big campus and sometimes cops pull people over for speeding on our driveway. Lockdown. When I was a kid, a deer wandered into our building because a janitor left a side door open. Lockdown. Lost parent who has genuinely good intentions but is in the building without checking in. Lockdown.
It doesn’t matter what they’re carrying — if anything — anybody or anything who is in the building when they shouldn’t be is going to cause a lockdown. As well it should! Because if it didn’t, then the same exact people would be on our asses for not keeping their precious babies safe enough.
So no, voting blue and grabbing the guns is not going to end the scary lockdown drills any more than it will end tornado drills and fire drills. It’s just one more talking point that can play on the motions of easily manipulated individuals.

When I grew up, "under the desk" meant I was safe from thermonuclear annihilation. My first memory of school is a drill in a pre-k orientation that sent all of us down into a basement hallway, sitting on the floor with our heads down between our knees. None of us kids had any clue what was going on.
That's truly defenseless.
I don't mean to belittle the terror they're engendering in kids today. But my own kids had the exact same drill for potential tornadoes. Now it's a psycho with a gun.
The answer, in my humble, but experienced opinion, is that we need to follow the same dogma President Ronald Reagan used to end the Cold War. If you want peace, prepare for war. We need to make the psychos more concerned with the fire power they might be facing than the fire power they can unleash.
Maybe if we had fewer gun laws, we'd have fewer mass murderers.

Sitting ducks even when I was 16 in high wanted a pistol. I would’ve had no issue with the school doing morning check ins with those students who carry. Nothing in the constitution says 16 years olds can’t own a firearm. Marbury V. Madison 1803 makes the laws that requires you to be 18 for rifle and shotguns and 21 for pistols void when the laws where first passed. It makes any unconstitutional law void for instance if I want to own a full auto open bolt sbr suppressed I can do it without government permission because Marbury V. Madison protects me.
