Will I receive outstanding fines?

I’ve had my car since 2024 and the logbook v5c has never officially been in my name.
For example, if I fill out a v62 to get a v5c officially in my name will any outstanding NIP’s, congestion charges, fines etc, covering the period of 2024 - present get sent to me?

Probably not but if they go to the previous owner and they occurred while you were driving, there’s nothing stopping them making a representation and transferring liability to you anyway.

Appreciate the reply. I highly doubt I accrued penalties. This is just a thought I suddenly developed and was curious of how the DVLA go about this to other drivers…

They can issue a fine to the seller for not keeping their records up to date when selling a vehicle but the DVLA don’t really have much to do with issuing PCNs, NIPs or congestion/tunnel charges etc aside from releasing the registered keepers info to the issuer. I’ve had fines come through my office for things that happened over a year ago, so definitely just keep your eye out for any letters.

Appreciate that.
Small things like when I go to tax the vehicle, it prompts me to visit a post office…
So I think the previous owner removed himself from being registered to this vehicle. The current “recent” v5c I have is from 2019 😂🤣
With no-one being registered to this vehicle since 2024 until now and if I have accrued penalties, you reckon letters are begging for me to register as an official owner? 😂😂😂

So in that case, when the garage acquired the vehicle it was likely “sold to trade” by whoever they got the vehicle from. A V5 isn’t issued when a vehicle is sold to the motor trade, they only issue a new one when the vehicle is “sold out of trade” ie sold to you, the customer. Essentially it’s a way for the DVLA to keep track of who has had the vehicle without having to put 5 previous keepers on the history. So when you bought it, the garage likely didn’t sell the vehicle out of trade and put it into your name.
Are you saying you actually have a copy of V5? Have you not tried to just put it into your name? How have you been taxing it?
The DVLA can’t reissue parking fines to you for a vehicle that isn’t in your name. They don’t issue these kinds of fines at all. If they have already been issued, they will have gone to the previous keeper, and it’s up to them to contact the issuer to transfer liability to you and then that company would reissue it to you.
The DVLA only care about whether their records are up to date or not.

I mean you a breaking the law by not having your current details on there already.
Yes potentially if there are any fines thy will come your way.
Lying about the date is a bad idea as if it’s to avoid fines you fall into “perverting the course of justice” territory.

Probably not.

There is no box 14 on a v62. Only 1-4 or am I missing something?

Look at the light blue background....
The bit when it asks when you first got the vehicle...

I see, in my circumstance it would be “No”, and for date I won’t go into specific day & month here but 2024. What do you think? 🤣
