4 day trip travel suggestions?
Posted by Temporary-Vanilla-@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 16 comments
Supper bummed looking having looked at the weather app predictions for the upcoming week. Had planned to visit the beautiful isles of scilly for my partner’s birthday but now having to cancel looking at the weather. Have to be very picky because we don’t drive. If you had 4 days to spend in the UK, where would you go?

Bath is lovely

Getting supper bummed sounds awful, but then I'm straight.
What was the food like?
You sure it was the weather app and not grindr?

What about a spa break in a hotel, you can both get pampered in luxury and it’s inside.

Some great suggestions here to consider. Mildly infuriated that we can’t stick to the original plan. We planned on taking the night riviera train. Hope we can visit the isles someday! Cheers everyone!

Peak District - some hiking and if the weather is bad, more time in nice pubs.

First off, where are you based ? What is your mode of travel ? What is the maximum you want to be travelling for ? Do you prefer countryside, cities, seaside ?

Sorry for not adding this, we’re based in Oxford. We don’t mind long train journeys as we tend to enjoy the routes. Want to avoid the sea because we won’t be able to enjoy it. Also want to get away from the city. We were in Edinburgh last year and did a day trip to Loch Ness so genuinely considering going back to Scotland and visiting Inverness or the isle of skye!

Okay - I'm gonna throw two at you which are sea - but bear with me. Llandudno - it's seaside, but Llandudno is a beautiful Victorian town that's been well kept. Some fantastic walks up The Great Orme. Train to Anglesey or bus to Portmeirion
Whitby - long train ride, but some beautiful scenery through the Yorkshire Moors. Whitby town is lovely & again some great local walks.

Don't let the weather stop you!

Haha, I’m honestly tempted. However, we’d have to get a ferry from Penzance to the isles and given the conditions, the sea might be rough. Also, the isles are very expensive and we’d like to enjoy them when they’re sunny and warm :)

Never been, but I've enjoyed traipsing the beaches of Northumberland, Wales, Scotland, Kent and (should I check weather apps maybe?), Yorkshire in the pissing rain many a time... You'll still have a good time. If you don't lose by cancelling, then see what you can get. I hear Cape Verde is nice

You simply cannot let the weather determine the enjoyment of your trip within the UK. Unless it's dangerously stormy which I suppose could be the case travelling to the Isles of Scilly

Absolutely. We’ve been here 4 years now and have learnt it the hard way that the weather app cannot control the calendar app. However we’ve also learnt not to be stupid especially since we heavily rely on public transport.
