Don’t buy a ViVi E-bike

If I could give someone some advice and save them from all the trouble of having complications with their first e-bike experience like me. I would tell them not to buy a ViVi electric bike just buy a Lectric one at least the support is in America. Also they (probably) test their batteries to see if they work before shipping it off. Just spend the extra money I was a lurker on here looking at if getting a 400-500 or even 300 dollar e-bike would be a viable option. It isn’t I have seen multiple comments etc saying you need to spend more at first I thought these people were snobby people but no they were being sensible. Now im Fighting with ViVi to get a refund. TLDR don’t buy an e-bike from ViVi.

Trek, Giant, Specialized. Maybe Aventon, but prob not. Brompton for folding. Not sure I'd trust anything not from a heritage bike manufacturer.

I got a GoMad and super super happy.

I most likely can’t afford anything from those brands infact since the lectric bike sale is over I probably won’t be able to afford even the cheapest lectric even with the refund. But I’m not sure if they make folding ebikes

That's snobby lol, what's wrong with lectric or aventon?
Pretend_Editor_4447@reddit
I am very snobby. Aventons are heavy. Lectric is cheaply made. Both are basically shoddy junk made for people who don't know bikes.
Neither has an established dealer network. I can take my Trek anywhere in the world and get service. Same with Giant and Specialized.
Tyler_go_kipper@reddit
Yeah but you can't say they are bad starter e-bikes.
What you are reccomending is for an experienced biker who is willing to drop 3-5k

I can. Because battery fires are no fun. Neither is spending money for something that may or may not work and may or may not be returnable. You get what you pay for, and no one, regardless of how low their budget is, should be being the Shein or Temu of ebikes.
Tyler_go_kipper@reddit
Since when in the last couple years do lectric and aventon batteries catch fire?
Jedski89@reddit
Tbh aventon sold shit ebikes but now they are finally catching up quality wise. I think a lot of people still think they dropship AliExpress bikes. But now the quality is nearly there, the prices are following.

I was thinking about buying a $300 Walmart Ebike but changed my mind last minute. After seeing your post and reading reviews I'm glad I didn't. I decided to do a rent to own instead. If anything goes wrong I just take it back to the place for repairs and only have to pay a $5 service fee.

How did you pay for it? if you used a CC, you should be able to do a chargeback.
MrTryalot@reddit (OP)
I used a debit card and bought it from Walmart.
Temporary-Film-7374@reddit
how long have you had it?
MrTryalot@reddit (OP)
I’ve had it since Thursday
Temporary-Film-7374@reddit
have you tried to return it to walmart?
MrTryalot@reddit (OP)
I can’t return it physically there it says to contact the seller ViVi and talk to them about it but their response time is frustratingly slow.
Temporary-Film-7374@reddit
call your bank and explain that you bought it, it's defective, walmart won't let you return it, and the manufacturer won't help you
MrTryalot@reddit (OP)
Will do I’ll let you know how it works out

Well now I just wait

Man, I feel your pain. It really just comes down to the old saying: you get exactly what you pay for. With Vivi, you are paying dirt-cheap prices purely for the hardware itself, and for the vast majority of people, the bikes arrive totally fine and are actually pretty solid little entry-level cruisers for 400 bucks. But the tradeoff for that super low price is that if you happen to be the unlucky 1% who gets a dud battery out of the box, their overseas support is going to be a nightmare to deal with. That's why Lectric costs double—you're literally just pre-paying for the guarantee that an American support team will instantly mail you a new part if something breaks. If someone is on a super tight budget, a Vivi is honestly still a decent starter bike to get into the hobby, but if you want total peace of mind for your first ride, you're 100% right that paying up for Lectric is the way to go.

Yeah I’ve learned my lesson

The battery doesn’t work every time I turn it on it turns off within 10 seconds
