Flight school employee discount?

How much employee discount do you get working at your flight school? Asking ZERO to CFI training, not the ones that work as a CFI already. Would be great if you share your state. I’m in the US.

The vast majority of flight schools run on razor-thin margins, there simply isn't any money to give discounts on. Employees may get other benefits like priority in scheduling etc. but I've never heard of a place that gives employee discounts on the actual flight costs.

Pretty sure employees get benefits like loggable flight time 😃

Never heard of an employee discount. I get 10 percent off for paying $1k at a time. Flying 2-3 times a week that's 1-2 weeks of lessons/flight time at once so I take advantage of it. I wouldn't pre pay more than that though.

You get a discount of 100% the normal rate

In truth I as a cfi was about to get the block rate rather than the by the hour rate

I’ve not heard of that.
Most flight schools don’t make much on the rental cost, the reason they charge the student $60 for the instructor but only pay the instructor $30 is so they can actually make some money.

$50 off the student rate at my school for all staff

A lot of them barely any. The flight school I fly with lets their employees borrow money for training though with no interest and pay it back as they work

Oh geez there's a song about that ...

You load sixteen students and what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt. Saint Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go, I owe my soul to the company flight school.....

If we have to keep waiting for every generation to make all the mistakes of history we're going to miss out watching them screw up in really new and interesting ways

Why would you think this is a universal thing across a state?
I don’t know a single school that offers one unless you’re an A&P and providing the maintenance yourself.
