Am I dumb??

So i just got a chance to get in a 11th gen civic with the
1.5 turbo, the owner gave me a shotgun ride, he said this just a oriel imagine what the RS civic can do, I said "oh it's probably just a map for better throttle response" and he said "I think it's HP and torque". Turns out he was right. I feel embarrassed as a "Car Enthusiast" that I didn't know the difference. I always held myself to high standard and little mistakes embarrass me, I'm still a teen going around and experiencing different cars, researching, studying etc. am I dumb?

I don't even know what you're talking about so 🤷

Life is learning. There are a million things about cars you don't know. How could you? Stop living in your head and just live life. You are all good.

Don't worry about it. You're young and have a lot to learn still. If this is the most embarrassing thing you do over your entire lifetime you are incredibly lucky.
To know every detail of every car down to the different trims would be savant-level of knowledge. Just gather knowledge on cars you like and go from there. I know 80s and 90s Honda very well and work on my own (89 Prelude SI) all the time. But I don't know anything about Subarus from the same era. Just get comfortable with admitting what you don't know. And that doesn't just go for cars either.

Nah. Gotta fail before you can succeed. Get learned

I get that but I'm disappointed and frustrated

You're that embarrassed over it? This has to be a troll
sup5rman@reddit (OP)
I am, I'm not trolling
LOGGATO@reddit
you didn't' know the difference between a HP/TQ tune vs a throttle map? Did I read that right?
sup5rman@reddit (OP)
I know the difference between torque and horsepower, I thought the the RS just a different map for just throttle response for example if you press the accelerator 30% but the ECU perceives it as 50%
jrileyy229@reddit
Just look up the cars online and compare specs, then read reviews of the RS and they'll tell you what was upgraded vs the base or oriel... It's not rocket science

What's an 'oriel'?
