Can't wait to pick one of these up in 8 years for 2k
JuniorDeveloper73@reddit
Humanity will be dead in 8 years
Sevealin_@reddit
how will it happen? do you know what month or day? this is really important, for everyone here. this is critical information, i can't believe you thought warning us through a reddit comment was the way to do this
New-Implement-5979@reddit
Find me 10 year old such station for 2k … is there anything even from 10 years ago worth buying?
Sevealin_@reddit
you can find 8x v100 servers for under 8k and those were easily over 100k when they released. I was merely utilizing exaggeration to make a joke that hardware will get a lot cheaper once supply meets demand
rebelSun25@reddit
For GPUs not so much, but I bought second hand Xeon which retailed for $5k+ originally, for under $100 8 years after.
I don't think we will get this lucky with this
Vileteen@reddit
who said local is cheap?
More-Curious816@reddit
definitely not NVIDIA
Bloated_Plaid@reddit
Pretty cheap.
More-Curious816@reddit
dirt cheap ^for ^millionaires
alexp702@reddit
Why do the bottom to have 748GB??
More-Curious816@reddit
because the GB300 station has 748GB of memory, the first one was written by LLM and report (288GB of HBM3e memory) which is for the servers chip, the desktop ultra has 252GB HBM3e. the official page of the first option also said 748GB.
LankyGuitar6528@reddit
But what's the costco bulk rate if you buy a case of 12?
hellek-1@reddit
Oops sorry wrong window 😳
teachersecret@reddit
… and a lawn chair. Disengage all safety protocols. Engage.
0xbyt3@reddit
3 months later "You are absolutely right. You meant tax avoidance by cutting costs, not tax evasion. Should I look up if tax evasion is a federal crime?"
mindwip@reddit
Lol
Stepfunction@reddit
The more you buy, the more you save.
myreala@reddit
Lol, rip to everyone who was hoping this would be 20k-30k
atape_1@reddit
It will be as soon as the bubble pops. Those are just crazy prices.
brianoh@reddit
For someone in to LLMs and more than likely see the potential in it why do you think we’re in a bubble?
ThisGonBHard@reddit
Because the money is in a circular bubble, and is fake.
It was all definitions of a bubble.
They are literally buying hardware they can't use, cause they dont have the power.
Twirrim@reddit
The fun part is, money isn't actually changing hands. It's a promise that it will change hands as/when various conditions are in place. e.g. Anthropic won't pay money until AWS has data centers in place, AWS won't build data centers until it could get power, or until Nvidia can commit to delivering hardware (they've been struggling with the backlog, now increasingly about memory).
So those $10bn numbers and the like we see is literally no money changing hands, just everyone saying to each other in a really public way "Wouldn't it be nice if we could spend $10bn on this stuff?" It technically it means something, because as soon as stuff is able to proceed, that money starts to flow and everyone has to follow through on their deal assuming all terms are met.
Yet, if I understand it correctly, it shows up as positive for the US GDP, because we love numbers that have no bearing on reality.
DunderSunder@reddit
We are in a bubble but it won't pop.
thrownawaymane@reddit
When I said "I want to live to see the Bubble Bowl" this is not what I meant
atape_1@reddit
Revenue to valuation ratio. So how much money the company gets in yearly (total, not just profit) vs their worth on the stock market. SpaceX is going to be worth 100x more than their revenue is and they are not even profitable. Z.ai (GLM models) are 150x or there abouts. These kinds of ratios haven't been seen since the .com bubble.
brianoh@reddit
You’re cherry picking spacex which not one person I know thinks is fairly valued. Look at hyper scalers and semis forwards earnings that have been leading this rally.
Genuinely surprised at how many ppl on this sub think it’s a bubble while all building out their own LLMs who understand the need for more compute, VRAM and HDD. Mostly it’s ppl that have missed it and wishfully thinking that it’s a bubble
krzonkalla@reddit
Enormous potential doesn't mean it isn't a bubble. See the .com bubble for a counterexample
MasterKoolT@reddit
High prices also don't necessarily indicate a bubble. They primarily indicate demand far outstripping supply.
brianoh@reddit
Look at forward earnings back then vs hyperscalers and semis now.
xamboozi@reddit
Lol, I doubt they'll be over $10k
mxforest@reddit
Nobody with half a braincell was.
elemental-mind@reddit
The trick is to listen to Jensen: "The more you buy, the more you save"!
koloved@reddit
Thanks , but I better buy a house
waiting_for_zban@reddit
House prices are crazy these days, even the radiators now cost 100k.
NarutoDragon732@reddit
In Argentina maybe.
Remote_Elevator_281@reddit
You can live in this
ReallyFineJelly@reddit
You mean like maybe 5-10 % of a house?
LePfeiff@reddit
More like half to a third of a house in most US cities
Miserable_Barber4351@reddit
But is this home ready for Agentic AI era?
the320x200@reddit
If your house isn't AI-native it's ngmi
phido3000@reddit
Shame they aren't cool.
SGI's used to be $100k for a desktop. But they were cool. Style and design and innovation.
These look like generic things. Like literally UPS. If you drop 100k of coin, even business coin, shouldn't it at least look cool.
power97992@reddit
You can buy a b300 and a cpu for cheaper than that
fastlanedev@reddit
Dang... I want one
geldonyetich@reddit
I don't think I can afford the insurance to be in the same room with one of these.
I don't know what AI work people are doing to expect to recoup six figures pound sterling but good luck with that.
jeekp@reddit
GPU Memory: 252 GB HBM3e - 7.1 TB/s
CPU Memory: 496 GB LPDDR5X - 396 GB/s
Not bad for 1600W, but I'd probably still go with RTX 6000's.
SurefootTM@reddit
That's still a lot better than an equivalent setup with RTX 6000's as the power draw would be a lot higher, also LPDDR5X is extremely expensive. I think NVidia know what they have here and since no one's facing them in any form or fashion they can set the price they want.
cibernox@reddit
I thought that 10k for the Mac Studio ultra 512gb was expensive. At this rate Apple could charge 20k and still feel like a bargain.
michaelsoft__binbows@reddit
they definitely could but I'll be surprised if 512GB sku even exists for m5 ultra.
if it does exist, 20k will be a steal for it, yeah.
Intelligent_Ice_113@reddit
is this like 5 maxxed Mac Studios?
srigi@reddit
Remember... the more you buy, the more you save!
Objective_Mousse7216@reddit
That's actually very cheap.
Alan_Silva_TI@reddit
Yeah, I wasn't expecting them to charge less to be honest.
rebelSun25@reddit
I was expecting minimum $100kCAD
Not surprised, and not disappointed. This market breaks the most hopeful and even some of the realistic crowds
cloudone@reddit
Pricing is not a problem. The problem is I can't get one in a reasonable time frame
info_solutions@reddit
Can i run Claude Mythos 15.1 on it ?
No_Lingonberry1201@reddit
So both kidneys? And a lung or two?
Remote_Elevator_281@reddit
But can it run CyberPunk 2078
ImportancePitiful795@reddit
OK price not bad considering if you can claim the 20% VAT and the whole machine as company expense....
But still. imho too expensive for what it is.
esw123@reddit
Exactly 100k euro pre-tax.
ImportancePitiful795@reddit
Yep.
SmileLonely5470@reddit
Who is the intended customer for this? (Not a rhetorical question). Smaller workplaces and wealthy enthusiasts?
esw123@reddit
Cheaper than 8 x RTX6000.
MotokoAGI@reddit
8xRTX6000 is better. Outside of electricity, this is approximately equivalent to 3 Blackwell 6000 on an epyc genoa with 512gb of ram.
bladezor@reddit
What are the power requirements on this?
Juulk9087@reddit
Anyone buying 8x rts pros isn't concerned with electricity lmao.
esw123@reddit
Yeah, already looking, only 288GB is HBM3e. Seems this variant is below 50-55k euro pre-tax, or somewhere near for +1-2kW only.
New-Implement-5979@reddit
Don’t worry guys Huawei will make something similar in 5 years and it will probably cost 15k
New-Implement-5979@reddit
100k GBP for a desktop 🖥️ workstation…
arbv@reddit
Wow, that is NSFW material right here.
Velocita84@reddit
Not safe for wallet
SurpriseOk6927@reddit
damn those dgx prices are something else. glad i built my stack around quantized local models. cloud gpu rental at this level would eat months of runway
Single_Ring4886@reddit
This is what monopoly leads to...
kiwibonga@reddit
Why does this feel naughty like opening a playboy centerfold
missbohica@reddit
This is more obscene than playboy.
FullstackSensei@reddit
Some youtuber titled their video: Nvidia is trying to kill Intel and AMD PCs and laptops.
Because, as we all know, everyone has 120k in the drawer just in case they need a new desktop and laptop....
sernamenotdefined@reddit
Don't worry, they are selling them to agents, not us. And by us I mean the billion people that nVidia acknowledges to exist and the 7+ billion nVidia doesn't even find worth mentioning.
tat_tvam_asshole@reddit
Schwing!
