ULPT Request: My friend is working illegally

So my friend has been working a job that hasn’t cleared his fingerprints. The job involves firearms, and the boss has been explicit in telling him to not verify ID for some customers. My friend is in a managers position, but if he gets caught by police/feds, he faces up to 5 years and/or $250k. Even though he’s a manager, his boss threatens his position using the lack of verification. He wants to get out, but he’s sent over 200 job apps (no that’s not an exaggeration) and hasn’t received any responses. He lives out Midwest, is there any ways for him to make it our safely? Unknown gigs to replace his income? Moves he should make to cover his ass?

Ethical answer: your friend should speak to a Defense Attorney who can advise him further on how to proceeed.
He does not want to play games with firearm laws.

I’m not a lawyer but I think it’s fair to guess an attorney is going to say your best defense is not doing something illegal in the first place.
And yeah, a criminal record for firearms doesn’t usually go well.

My brother in Christ. You posted this from your main? Are you stupid? You just snitched on your friend. It wasn't difficult to figure out where you live. It's in the doordash post. it wouldn't be difficult for law enforcement to determine who you are and who your friends are. After that, it's not difficult to determine which of them doesn't have official employment. We're taking an hour of police work for the ABC gang. You just lost this job for him or got him arrested with federal charges. If he doesn't quit first and immediately talk to a lawyer he can't afford, he's probably fucked. Nice job dude. Great friend.

The edit makes this even worse 🤦

Pretty sure you can get paid to be a narc

Become an informant. Get immunity. Collect evidence. Blackmail boss. Keep money if he pays you, get out clean if he doesn’t. Worst case, he’s out a job but his boss is in jail and it sounds like there is some cool stuff he can dump on eBay for a quick buck.

Whistleblower. Best case scenario.
Demoniac_smile@reddit
At this point, your friend’s best bet to avoid criminal charges is to cut a deal with law enforcement. They need to get immunity from prosecution in exchange for testifying.

So, it seems like the boss is having him sell to straw purchasers? I would suggest that your friend gets out in front of this because having a felony is going to make it a lot harder to find a job when he gets out of prison.
ThePureAxiom@reddit
Best option is probably to turn informant on condition of immunity.
He's leaving that job one way or another anyways, plus the consequences falling on his asshole boss seems like just deserts. Business closing under these circumstances would leave him eligible for unemployment many places (but not all).
IHaveBoneWorms@reddit
If the business gets shut down due to an anonymous report that they’re violating the law, your friend would qualify for unemployment. Just a thought.

So your friend is doing illegal stuff at work, not working here illegally?

Yes, i described it poorly
i-am-foxymoron@reddit
Your title described it poorly, the rest of your post was just fine.

If your buddy can get a recording of the boss telling him that, the ATF will be very excited about it.
