Logging Made Easy discontinued??

We were in the middle of implementing CISA's LME (https://github.com/cisagov/LME) and I saw they just released their 2.3.0 update a couple of weeks ago. I went to check on that update and saw the notice that they are retiring support! Does anyone know why this happened so suddenly (budget cuts?) and if anyone will be forking this to continue support? We don't want to throw away all the setup work we did.

There's a paragraph explaining what happened. Alignment with their mission and priorities.
After reviewing our cybersecurity services to ensure alignment with our strategic priorities and statutory mission, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) made the difficult decision to retire support for the Logging Made Easy (LME) service, effective May 22, 2026. Users may continue to use LME; however, the service will no longer be maintained or supported by CISA.

Aka, funding got cut.

Basically impossible not to get political here, but CISA has suffered greatly under the current administration and lost a lot of staff and funding. This is probably one of many projects that are getting cut because of this.

Its not politics to be honest. CISA has been gutted by the current administration and its cronies because its a federal organization. We are now see the fallout of those changes because the federal government does a lot more than just things in DC.

It's literally politics.... lol

If we want to look at that way, we have to ignore a lot of risks coming down the pipeline because the risk are happening because of ongoing politics. I would say therefore some politics is needed to be discussed to ensure the full context is available to admins.

... My friend, the Federal budget is now and has always been one of the most important bills that gets passed literally every single year. It's literally the #1 tool used by the President to shape policy. If anything is politics, Federal programs getting funding cut by one group of politicians for explicitly political reasons and that affecting the services provided by that program is as political as shit gets.
Feel free to live with your head in the sand, but, "I don't want to deal with or talk about politics on social media," is not the same thing as, "this problem is not political."

In current day and age, "Politics" is when you point out the consequences of someone's actions. Not the actions themselves.

I guess, im trying to not get into politics but security is about risk management and the changes our federal government make changes the risk calculation of orgs. Trying to avoid politics in security is like trying to drive with 1 eye shut. You can but its a bad idea.

What you’re describing is the effect of bad politics.
